Why not let people buy their own health insurance?

Many can't afford it. There is nothing wrong with a single payer. The question should be why not let people find their own health care provider? Just like auto insurance in BC. One payer, but competition for the business.

Why would the Canadian public be "freaked out". Most people I know have problems with handing billions to the CBC while we wait in line for health services
I'd bet most people aren't aware or don't remember what the CBC gets every year. And if the gov't just up and dropped the CBC, I bet a fair amount of people would start to complain about a dead air channel they usually catch the news or Murdoch Mysteries or This Hour has 22 Minutes or whatever on. Like CHBC in the Okanagan, for instance.
And on the other hand, people hardly said diddly about aPAULing Martin's cuts to seniors, provinces, and students because he balanced the budget. I'd make a bet that the sleazball boosted the budget allowance in the books to begin with so if he came in under budget, he'd look like some kind of hero. It worked. The only good thing that came out of his actions back then that is worth a pinch of goose shtt is that he paid off a little of the nat'l debt. Those jerks did nothing about maintaining the infrastructure of education and health and now we are still dealing with that neglect.
So I would make another bet that if Harpy balanced the budget and paid off a decent chunk of the debt, people would forget about the CBC budget and keep watching.

Anyways, funding for the CBC is dwindling, so that's fine with me.

I remember Scott Reid (Conservative incumbent) had proposed media vouchers in his book Lament for a Notion. I actually thought that, if we must provide public media funding, it would be a good idea by at least letting the consumer decide. Then again, Scott Reid is one of those rare independently-thinking Conservatives who has broken party ranks on votes in Parliament sometimes.

The choice isn't between handing over billions and up and dropping the CBC. Why is it that some people can only see the word in black and white?

Harper is against CBC because his view any Government supported enterprise must support the government. He wants the CBC to act as the Conservative Party cheerleading squad.

He doesn't believe in a independent press if you're not for me you're agin me.

Your statement is strange, considering that the Harper government kept giving money to the CBC all these years.
Would you care to explain?

Huh? In here, most words are black and white. WTH does that have to do with the topic anyways?

I'll take that as a yes.
Take whatever you want, it's irrelevant.

I don't mind being silly on occasion as it relieves tension, lightens things up a bit, etc. I don't know anyone, including you, that isn't silly now and then. Some of us are intentionally silly, although in your case, I don't think you realize that you do become silly.

And again, you have siderailed someone (me) into helping you hijack a thread.
Do you have anything on topic?

I haven't hijacked the thread. You said something stupid then got silly when what you said was question. Suck it up and get back on topic.

Another ad hominem. It looks like you have nothing on topic and won't even clarify yourself when asked. It's sad but that's ok. You are who you are and cannot help it.
