Hockey is a fine sport and I have nothing against players, it's the crap involved in pro sports I find offensive. BTW, I have seen many junior games far more entertaining than some pro games, so in that light, I prefer to dish out 25 bucks for a night at the game rather than 250 ( if I was interested, I could always watch a pro game for free on the tv).

ITN has a good point: there's more business in pro sports than there is sports..

If you sit up high you can get tickets for 60 dollars. To me this is much better value.

I don't even attempt getting Leaf's tickets as they are next to impossible to find and are prohibitively expensive. I prefer spending my money to see the Toronto Rock Lacrosse team play, $30.00 gets you a seat aboout 15 rows from the floor and the atmosphere is much more alive then a Leafs game.

The clause being exercised has been in place since about 1965, something the CBC should have known about don't you think. Typically, it the taxpayers being screwed again. This should be the straw that rids us of that ever useless organization.

So whatever you normally do on a Saturday afternoon, don't. Just turn on the telly at 3pm and settle in.

I don't watch the 'business', and it doesn't bother me at all. There are corporations for anything and
everything. Whatever they do in their businesses to succeed, is up to them, as far as NHL is concerned the more successful the business, the better the TV coverage, (now HD), and over the years the product has improved one hundred times over. I follow the games, love the players, they
all played minor hockey, through jrs and now they have reached their dream, and without the business they would have no job, that pays extremely well. The business was awful many years ago when there was no players union, players were payed very little, bullied around by the management, now, at least they have their own union, and can have their own say.
And, for all of you out there who are going to jump all over the union, there is no other choice, as
it's the only way players/workers have some sort of balance.

For me to turn away from something I enjoy emmensley, because os the business,( which I don't find awful anyway,) would only be hurting myself, for what?????, boy didn't I show them.

I've been to a few games this year (Canucks), had really good seats, (gifts for special occasions), and
I enjoyed my self very much, BUT we do have a 60" TV HD, and the games are great on that set, and even
'live' at the game, there are things I miss, that I would see on the TV.
But it's nice to be around all the fans, like I used to be years ago when I lived in New Westminster, but it's also nice at home, more comfortable, constant replays, can't get any closer to the play than
that, I enjoy Jim Hughson and John Garett, chatting away as they call the game, find out lots of
little goodies, enjoy the after game interviews etc. Don't get any of that at the game.
I should say, I enjoy almost all the fans, as there are always a few who came without their brain,
but think they know more than everyone else. Oh well, makes me happy I don't know them, or
have to sit with them.
We have NHL Center Ice, so we can flip over to all kinds of games every night, watch whatever we
want, for how long we want, and can follow the 'complete' NHL, and not just our local North West Division.
So, now you know why I don't have any other social life, don't have time ;-)

I think the playoffs are designed so that won't happen. If there are Canadian teams still around after the second round, they will play each other. But still....

The playoffs aren't designed at all, everyone knows what the format is at the beginning of the season.

There are three teams in the west, and three teams in the east, so it is very possible for two of them
to play eath other in the finals, they just have to get there.
It's got nothing to do with any design, they just have to win.

It's a sport for crying outloud.

You bet it is, a great sport, brings excitement and happiness to thousands and thousands of people,
there can't be any bad in that.
I see people in Courtenay, allready driving around with Canuck flags on their cars, they
are really pumped right now.
