i generally go for the high cocoa content stuff cos i prefer the taste anyway. dark chocolate is hard to get hold of here. also decent cheese is non-existant here

I always look forward to when my cousin comes back from Oxford. He always brings a wide assortment of cheese back with him. Unfortunately he's finished there this spring:sad10:

Cheese is death for me. In the same league as butter, cream and Mars Bars. Oh the good old days of roast beef sandwiches with meat, butter and cheese slathered in mayo. The butter cut as thick as the cheese which is a s thick as the 1/4" slices of meat. No bloody wonder I had to be jumped started back in to this world.

My Dad is also an insulin diabetic. Have you tried diabetic choclate? (Though to be fair my dad says it tastes like cat pee)I have known people who liked it though.

it tastes fine, although it's poor quality. Problem is, I know it's ok to binge on it, so i di, and the sweeteners are laxatives. Big disaster. Also it's more expensive. I find it's best just to eat sensibly, have chocolate in small quanitites after meals. My problem is that it was expressly forbidden and I am a rebellious little sod and so can never quite see chocolate in a normal light again.

the modern way of treating diabetics is much less forbidding and much more explaining. when i was a child i was told off for being a bad boy when i messed up. It made me very anti-doctors, which is ironic. i'm over it now.

I suspect anyone who enjoys marijuana would not purchase it from the government. I can only imagine the tampering the government would do with the drug until the THC levels were next to nothing, leaving you with a mildy intoxicating cigarette.

That's not how it works in Amsterdam.

amsterdam has a strange method of government though. basically if something becomes a problem they make it legal.

Amsterdam is an international city ... not much of a "Dutch" city anymore. Illegal drugs were being run by criminals and drug use was becoming very dangerous. By legalizing marijuana, the government ensures that the quality of the product is high, that the cost is reasonable and that drug deals are made in well lit cafes where people are having a coffee and reading the newspaper. I think the liberal attitudes are more along the lines of accepting that adults can make their own decisions so why not make it safe for them to do what they want to do. It's not like marijuana is all that bad.

i didnt say it was a bad idea. It seems counter-intuitive but it really does work. amsterdam is an excellent place to be. They also recently came up with an excellent method of traffic control:

what you do is remove ALL markings and signs and let everyone fend for themselves. This works because no-one knows what to do and the only way to get through the area is to make eye contact with other road users and drive slowly and carefully.

this kind of thinking makes me smile

Yah, I like the idea of giving people the right to choose for themselves what's good for them ... respecting the autonomy of others and all that stuff.

it surprises me that old people still do it. it f*cks your head up you know. that explains allot about the older generation and why we have so much problems in canada.youd think getting older would make you more responsible.

actually it's been shown that OVERuse can somtimes be linked with schizophrenia, and that the incidence of this is increased when the smoking is done at a young age. old people are better off than young

I have no issues with organically grown, relatively low-grade pot. I smoke it every now and then myself. Mind you, the stuff I've got is so low dose, all it does is relax you and put you to sleep - which is exactly what I use it for. My mother grows it, and she is a very trustworthy person, lol.

I don't think I'd ever buy it from a person I didn't know really well and trust. There's so much crap they put in it nowadays, it's no surprise when somebody who claims they only smoked pot overdoses on ecstacy. I do not agree with people who smoke it constantly just for a high. I do not think people, who are in school and still underage should be smoking it, there is no excuse for that irresponsibility. The same can be said about drinking and smoking cigarettes.

Nice to have your input but many many studies refute the notion of marijuana as "gate-way" drug.

Is the phenomenon of "graduating" from one drug to another a product of that particular drug or is it a move to some other perhaps harder drug...as product of dynamics in the social climate, influences from media, contact with the seamy side of life that marijuana and other drugs must necessarily find themselves in as response to social and media pressure? If you sell guns at the local flea market the gun-police will shut you down...if you sell prophylactics in a Cathoic schoolyard the nuns will have you quartered at high noon...

Society declares determines and establishes the nature and character of both the marketplace and the consumer...
I think you hit on it, Mike. I think it depends on your age whether pot is gateway or not. Kids are really curious critters and they'll try beer. Beer usually leads to a faster buzz from rum, vodka, etc. Pot, the same thing, the kids want to try something else and see if they can get a faster buzz or a higher buzz. Older people may not extend beyond pot because it may be enough of a high for them.

Anyway, folks, as much as any pot smoker can tell you that there's no way they're addicted and could quit anytime they want, I've seen with my own eyes addicted people, one of whom was a tenant of mine. I do know that it causes changes in thought patterns and at least short term memory takes a helluva sh|tkicking.

All that having been said, I think they should just bite the f'n bullet legalize it and put it up for sale in gov't liquor stores and cigarettes, too, until they're phased out. It's likely they'll never have any sort of control over pot otherwise and it's likely they'll never stop it.

Um, concerning the state of Canadian affairs, I highly doubt it has much to do with pot, Maple, but more to do with politician's personal greed for money and/or fame and power.
