Now developing economies at the expensive our own is something you oppose? Since when?

Well if Corporate America had it's way, they would be paying Canadians the same wages they pay Mexicans and Chinese.

The RMB goes a long way in China. Further than a dollar does here.

85¢ will get you bottle of Snow.

...and when Canada had tariffs it was cheaper for Ford, Toyota to have a plant in Canada than pay the tariffs, also pay union workers a livable wage.

Mexico does not care about environment and labor laws.. so operating in Mexico is obviously cheaper.

So I guess as Canada pushes for Environmental limits on Canadian Companies, more businesses will move to Mexico. and/or China.

Our economy is tanking, oil jobs gone, manufacturing leaving.. what's going to be left??

Protesting. No shortage of jobs for professional protestors. Just can't bathe or shave. But you get to fly to all the in places and party.

Start designing, making and selling weapons in old assembly facilities. It's steady business.

Yep, that's the way to go. I understand Omar Khadar is available now, he could help out kick start the wiring process of U/G explosives!!

It would be a Bang Up business!!

First I always supported domestic auto's not anymore they are out of touch with
our social and economic agenda. Another factor here in Canada and America
directly or indirectly citizens sat there while governments handed out subsidies
and outrageous tax breaks to these people and now they behave in this fashion.
And costs are not too high you know we hear the term there is no free lunch.
At the same time with companies not paying their fair share the citizens of Canada
have provided companies with their free lunch for years.
They got privilege and special tax treatment and still they are disloyal.

It should be noted they left after they ate their free lunch at our expense for decades

How about a 140% tariff on top of the 600% retail mark up on solar panels made in China?
Keep taxing until the production moves back to North America. The best thing that could happen to the youth of this country is to see a few decades of massive inflation. That's the only way they'll get out of debt. That's how our grandparents and parents got out.

It's those easterners eh, they have grown up with a culture of entitlement, the rest of Canada has always supported the easterners (Central Can, Ont and Q). The governments have always given manufacturing jobs/industries to these two provinces.
Now they have gotten overpaid, inefficient and lazy.

Let them live with the results they have brought on themselves.

So what you're saying is that it's okay if a corporation does something nefarious as long as ignorant people support it with their wallet.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Boy, two and two make thirteen.

What I meant is that if you support car manufacturing here, buy a car that comes from here, not China, Mexico.

That is what I meant by voting with your wallet.

As far as the nefarious part goes, it is really hard to spend a dime on anything without encountering a nefarious cooperation. You can't get away from the fundamental psychosis of corporations.

Mexico is a country of the future-Canada not so much.

Funny, I would have said the exact opposite.

Mexico is much older, poorer and far more corrupt than Canada. Their strength is that the populace is relatively poor and will settle for less. Mexican democracy is a spectacular failure and something akin to regional warlords are taking over the place. Their chief export is poor people who flood into their neighbouring country illegally rather than stay behind and build their own, despite coming from a homeland with one foot in the third world. The population is fecund ... not much of an advantage in a world of 8 billion plus and woefully uneducated by our standards. It is a dry country, getting drier. Environmental degradation is becoming a major issue as they industrialize at an accelerated rate.

Sorry, Eyeore, it doesn't get much better than this, out there. Canada is still a brand new place and we've hardly started.
