No it's literally the ideology of capitalism to have people poorer. Capitalism is an aggressive accumulation of wealth by any means necessary, without regards to health of people, animals or the planet itself. Giving workers proper wages goes against the ideology of maximizing profits so it's better to lower wages and keep people poorer.

Actually that is wrong. Without a well paid population there would be no demand for the capitalist goods and services.

Mom and pop also no longer have to stock and carry the costs of low volume sale items. They can diversify their inventory

Big deal. If Walmart can save an entire small city from decades of mom and pop gouging the entire city now has extra jingle in their pockets to spend at venues and shops Walmart doesn't compete against.

from TB's link said:
Depending what type of business you own, you may find that having a megastore nearby actually helps to boost sales. If you run a high-end boutique, things could work in your favor: It could be the case that consumers are spending less money on basic staples like food, and as a result have more spare cash to buy high-end nonessentials. A recent study found that while some businesses suffer, nearby shops that offer products not sold at Walmart tend to do well. So if you know that a superstore is coming to town soon, it could be a good time to look at diversifying your inventory and making sure you offer products that are a cut above the superstores’ offerings

Do you feel enslaved?

Ask the vanguard to the Free Market ideology in the Maquilladora Free Trade Zones in Mexico and around the world.. who live in hovels in primitive shanty towns..and work for subsistence wages.

The 'industries' here hire only young women... who are immediately fired if they get pregnant. Union organizers are murdered by company goons... often drug cartel enforcers. There is a nasty correpondence between the drug trade with the free trade in commodities. Both profit from misery.

Yeah.. i think this growing sector of the global economy deems themselves enslaved.. and it will inexorably move into the First World.. at the hands greed crazed traders and bankers.. the parasitic managers of the Global Economy.

Precisely. The west does not think that their lifestyle is based on the enslavement of the third world: textile sweat shops, high tech factories in China. Just because their sitting pretty doesn't mean that half the world population lives at slave labour wages to support it.

A Chinese worker makes the same as a Canadian. Can you buy a KFC meal for 89¢ in Canada? How about a high rise condo? Are they $55,000 for a two bedroom in Vancouver Toronto or even Regina?

Oh those poor poor imaginary slaves.

Doesn'tgive any buying ppower of the $1.36 an hour. One day's labour buys 15.2 KFC meals. How many does one days labour buy here?

64RMB for the bucket. How much is 64RMB in Canadian?

$12.98 Canadian.

1.00*cad = 4.92877*cny

um $1.36 an hr in china you're pretty much living in a factory. you're homeless.

Ummmmm no. They house you and feed you and pay you. Average is more like $3.75US an hour for a no skills job.

Take that $3.75 and multiple by 6.2 for US equivalent.

$23.25 US an hour.....

"they house and feed you", yea slaves got the same treatment. chinese citizens on average don't have close to the purchasing power of people in the west. this is absurd that you would even argue this.
