Maybe someone with accurate knowledge of the definitions of left wing and right wing could post it so we don't continuously see these asinine definitions pop up here from someone who doesn't have an inkling of what he/she is talking about.

The most sensible thing I ever heard about 'left wing' and 'right wing' was as follows:
It takes two 'wings' to get anywhere. A bird with a broken wing cannot fly. Try to propel a canoe by oaring only on one side and you'll just go around in circles. Airplanes don't fly with one wing missing. A ship must have a rudder that will propel it left or right.
How true! 'Left wing' and 'Right wing' are really silly when you think of it that way. Plain old common sense would eliminate the need for those terms.

Of course, you are right, you DO paddle a canoe. But any paddle I ever saw that propels a canoe looks pretty much like an oar.
Then there are ping pong paddles and tennis racquets that both serve the same purpose but look quite different........HoHum!!!!
