Canadians are angry because of “climate change” says Trudeau

Correct. "Influence." A couple of percent either way.
A couple of points 'either way' is the difference between a healthy growing economy and a serious recession. That's a HUGE difference. 2 percent growth vs 2 percent negative growth is absolutely massive. But you blow it off like the gov't has zero to do with the economy.

The main argument against further oil and gas development is that it would increase Canada’s GHG emissions. Maybe so. But would it increase global emissions?
Well this is what doesn't get talked about. The truth is that selling natural gas to someone else doesn't change OUR emissions one bit, and as they'll be burning NG either way it doesn't change their emissions.

But the environmentalists think that if we make it HARD for them to GET energy, they'll be forced to use less. So it's OUR fault they're burning fuel if we sell it to them.

That's just wrong thinking.

Serious question. I know you'd blame a rainy day on True Dope, but do you really think he controls the economy?

I mean, when you're not hissing "Curssssse the Trudeauses! We hates them forever, precioussss!"
He controls the economy in that he imposes rules/regulations that affect - well damn near everything so while he may not "control" the economy, he certainly can make decisions that affect the economy.

You bet Canadians are angry. While China cranks out 26% of the world's man-made GHGs to the tune of of over 12,000Mt/yr, we're being punished for our paltry 750Mt/yr or so while the Groper beats Canada into the ground over a fake 97% consensus.

You need to believe emissions really are making a difference to use that. Are emissions are issue?

Well i'd say the do a lot more than 'nudge' but it's not far off my position so sure. Of course - gov'ts CAN 'control' the economy to whatever degree they want, and many do, we just don't do that here as completely. So the amount of control (or influence if you prefer) is a decision and does vary over time.

Trudeau is on the high end. Seriously - repressing the energy industry, the carbon tax, the spending, the regulation - it's hard to catagorize that as mere 'influence'. That's a pretty major direct affect on the economy, that is exerting a fair bit of control some would argue ,
Correct. "Influence." A couple of percent either way. And should do whatever it can. And True Dope isn't doing very well, probably through ignorance of the levers and tools he does have and indifference to the economy in his priority list.

But I get sick of whimpering morons who blame ONE prime minister of ONE small country (no intent to insult y'all or put you down, but <40 million population is "small") for a global surge in gas prices.
A small percentage less globally is different that a small increase globally. Globally is a small but significant change one way or the other, but Nationally is a large difference one way or another.

By “nudge” I was picturing an automobile going downhill at highway speed, then “nudging” steering wheel an inch or two to the left, then correcting that by “nudging” The steering wheel another inch or two to the left….& as the ditch is coming up on the left of you, correcting that by “nudging” the steering wheel an inch or two to the left….

Nudges to non-stationary situations/objects influence it’s direction and in turn it’s outcome.

Trudeau sure likes to insist they are. But let's pretend the moron is actually right for once. Even if Canada went 100% emissions-free today, it would not make a difference globally. That's because China burps out in just over 3 weeks what Canada generates over an entire year. Never mind the emissions from India, Russia, the US, the EU and international maritime shipping (which ranks at #6 in annual GHG emissions).

It's the equivalent of slitting your own throat because someone else is hungry.

If real, action Canada takes does make an impact. Prbkem is Trudeau is to eager to be cherry popping climate iniatives when he is a premature ejaculator. Its costing us huge.

What you’re both describing is the economy of scale. Trudeau is the PM of CANADA & not the PM of Earth or the UN or whatever he’s trying to be.

Maybe he should be trying to look out for the well being an economic interest of CANADA instead of trying to offset China’s emissions by hobbling CANADA’s economy? Is that what I’m hearing.

Meh. We're splitting hairs i think. At the end of the day we're saying more or less the same thing - while Canadian gov'ts don't exercise total control over the economy they exercise control over elements that greatly affect it or have a significant impact positively or negatively.
