I'm watching some videos from last night right now, they're awesome! And Kris and KAB are awesome as well!

Have a great show tomorrow night ross, we'll of course be expecting a full recap!

There's a new Archie song that was played on radio somewhere (random). I like it better than his first single: Listen To Studio Version Of "Elevator" By David Archuleta. (I even watch the video of his performance of Crush on that page, it was lovely.)

Oh, and Kara won't be back on Idol! I think I'm thrilled, but I'm still nervous about who they will put on the judges panel this year. And apparently, Randy is in, so, yuck. Oh, and Steven Tyler. Not sure what to expect about him, but I'm not overly confident about what he'll bring to the show.

Yes!! Have a GREAT time!! (and what she said.. recap thing.. ;) )

I like the elevator song, Wasn't sure at first, but that elevator go up, elevator go down is catchy. I wonder why they're releasing another song already? Or did the radio station just play it?

No Kara.. Steven Tyler and J Lo I think.. and Randy.. it will be totally different panel. Randy as head judge? It will be strange, eh?

I'm psyched about tomorrow. Not that it will be on the State College PA level, on the awesome meter, but for some reason I've always wanted to see a concert at a big state fair. (This is not literally a state fair, but it's about the same thing. It seems huge.) When I was a kid I went to a state fair and it was love at first sight. I remember climbing a greased pole, and chasing pigs. And getting bitten by a goat. And getting sick on the Cyclone and puking. Good times.

I don't really dislike Kara, I always was willing to give her some slack - but it was a bad fit. Some people don't belong on TV. I do think she's kind of pretty, and I have a feeling she's more real than some of her H'wood counterparts, Plus, she lives in Maine. Points for that. Still, I can't say I'll miss her on Idol.

Then again, we don't know what's coming.

I think it shows a lack of creativity on the part of Idol to go for "names". They're only thinking about bringing up their ratings. I wish they were interested in the long-term quality of the show.

ETA: I was looking at a Lee DeWyze thread on mj's. One of the people was saying, wouldn't it be cool if he was another Kelly, Carrie, or Daughtry? And someone else said, "I hope he won't be another Kris Allen," and then they inserted the winking smiley. I'm not sure of the exact words. That made me so f***ing mad. I mean, now we have Lee fans dissing Kris?

How delusional can these people be?

I so agree with this. Sure they maybe think they need a name because of the Simon vacumn, but what they really need is a panel that works well together. I'm with Nigel - it's all about chemistry. So I hope that's what they're basing their decisions on. (Chemisty and knowledge that is)

I didn't really mind Kara, and she knew what she was talking about, but she was really awkward on television. I don't know if it was nerves or what, or maybe just being the new kid thrust in on the Simon-Paula-Randy love fest. When it was pretty apparent that Simon didn't want her there. Plus.. No Boundaries.. that song.. I still kinda hold a grudge over it. lol

GRR! (I had a lot more to say.. but Grr, kinda covers it).

Seriously, Kris is so talented, and all the people he surrounds himself with are multi-talented. He's gonna be just fine.

YouTube - Kris Allen Band ft. Andrew DeRoberts - I'm Tore Down - State College, PA - 9/2/10

Lee should be so lucky to be like Kris. But stupid fans, are stupid fans, and it's not really Lee's fault that they tear down Kris to build Lee up. They can all be talented. I haven't really seen in Lee what I've seen in Kris, but maybe it's there. I've liked his recorded stuff and some of the acoustic stuff I've heard, I'm just not compelled to seek his stuff out yet.

I kinda still wonder who Lee is musically.

What do you guys know about this place they played after hours? How did Kris's fans end up there? Some of them always seem to know where he and his band will be.

Have to go to bed but will report back eventually...

Ha, I know nothing. They probably found out by talking with the band I'd bet.

Who loves AWM.. ? Oh yeah, ... only EVERYBODY.

Pittsburgh Music Report: Show Review - VV Brown w/ Kris Allen and Maroon 5 - 9/29/10 - Tribune Total Media Amphitheatre - Concert Review - Live Review

When I heard the shrill cries of young girls I knew Kris Allen had taken the stage. I had zero expectations for this previous American Idol Contestant. He is a part of a genre I do not particularly adore, but I can admire when an artist can perform his or her songs live just as well recorded as Kris Allen did. The crowd loved every "ooo" and acoustic guitar feature. Granted, it was justified, Allen is a great performer and has a lot of talent. His stand out songs were his covers: Kanye West's "Heartless," The Beatles' "Come Together," and Michael Jackson's "Man In the Mirror."

it's amusing me that other people besides the fan type people are calling Chris Torres Latin Jesus. LOL

The venue is huge tonight: Waiting for @KrisAllen to take the stage! Didn't know there were so many cowboy hats in VT. | Plixi (honestly, not my favorite type of venue, at all).

All the people sitting around us wearing cowboy hats were French Canadians. Every one of them. "mtlfan" is of course from Montreal, and she was talking to them all en francais.

These people were not especially Kris fans but I noticed by the middle of his set they were clapping along, then later they were dancing to LLWD and CT (the only two songs most of the audience stood up for). I thought it was cool how he got a lot of them into it.

Kris is brilliant. You guy need to see him live. He sounds phenomenal. The place had great sound. I was so impressed by the band's sound. I loved Jack and Diane live. (Surprise!) Kris flubbed something - it was funny. Keith covered it. Keith mentioned Kris's name several times, once when Kris wasn't even on. He just gave him a plug in the middle of his (Keith's set).

Keith was awesome. I loved seeing him - even though his music is not totally my type. He's a great showman. More about that another time.

I've never seen Kris with the band - plugged (in). Wow. They sound great. He sounds out of this world - his voice is so powerful and he does such cool things singing off the beat, improvising different things. Whatever the heck he does.

The crowd was not as into his set as I've seen at other shows where he's opened for Keith - they were kind of a tough crowd, in a way, though I noticed they were attentive and not wandering all over or talking - once he got into his set. His applause was really good at the end of his set. You could feel the audience come to him. (The grandstands were, overall, much more appreciate, I thought.) jmatt from MJ's was there. She felt the crowd was cooler to him than I did. They were actaully very into him for an opening act they weren't there to see.

Down where we were, with the Quebec contingent, guess who I saw? That Landry guy who won Nouvelle Star! Before the show, he was standing in the aisle near us having his picture taken with people in the audience. I took his picture. I'll post it on twitter eventually. (He looked familiar - then mtlfan told me who he was, and I thought - I can't wait to tell missaddicted!)

I'm writing this from the hotel lobby.

Let's see, what else - the tickets were 77 dollars (ow!)...it rained during Keith's set. It was windy and pretty cold.

I knew the perfect time to "stalk" Kris and KAB was after Jack and Diane -- but I couldn't get mtlfan to go until much later, then she wanted to get some food, so when we finally got on the busses, they were getting ready to go. As soon as Keith got offstage, he went to his bus, and the bus left. We stood and watched all this. While talking to a security guard.

We saw Cale standing inside the bus, and Andrew. Cale was basically naked except for his undershorts. (Ha.) Torres came out of the bus and was running around - obviously in a hurry, since they were leaving - I have no idea what he was doing. Then they drove out. They had a couple of big screen TVs on, watching football. mtlfan remarked that Keith Urban was "mighty fine" as his bus drove by - he was sitting up with the driver.

It took me about five and half hours to get here today. Due to some traffic near where I live, I went about 20 miles in an hour. I got to the fair just as it was time to go in. I almost didn't make it.

I enjoyed it - it was worth it.

My mouth was hanging open at how good Kris and KAB was. And I was surprised at the hard rocking sound they have - and Kris has.

OKay, I have to go, I'll be intouch tomorrow night, or maybe tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the recap ross! I'm glad you had a great time! I thought I would regret not going, but it's not so bad. I guess I'm greedy. When I see Kris, I want to see him do a full set, not with Keith Urban, and in a more regular-sized venue. Crossing the border and the price of the ticket were off-putting as well. But it's really the size of the venue that turned me off the most. And Keith Urban. I know he's super nice and he's a great showman, but I really hate country music. I would probably have been tempted to rent a car and go to Burlington if Kris had done a headlining show in a regular-sized venue.

I guess I suck a little, because I know it's good for Kris to open for all these bands, but from a selfish point of view, I don't like any of these bands. Never would I be tempted to go see Keith Urban, Barenaked Ladies, Maroon5 or Lifehouse. I know Maroon5 and Lifehouse have similar styles, so they're a good fit, but both these bands bore me so so much.

I am actually going to see a show for one of the openers this fall (Rich Aucoin-Hey Rosetta!-Hot Hot Heat). But it's 15 minutes from my house and the show is 15$ (I wonder how any of these three bands make any money out of the 15$ it costs), I would have been crazy not to go, even though I think it kind of sucks for Hey Rosetta! to open for Hot Hot Heat, well it makes sense in the US, where they're doing shows right now, but in Canada, I think both bands must have an equivalent fan base. Anyway.

It's funny that you saw a lot of Québécois! Makes sense since Keith Urban is not coming to Montréal. The big country stars actually rarely do. There are a lot of country fans in Québec, but we don't hear from them a lot. There isn't even a country radio station here. It's funny about Maxime Landry too!

Speculation that Alison's been dropped from Jive.

I can't say that I'm surprised, I've always thought she wasn't quite ready even though I think she's amazing, and her CD seems too pop for her style.

Bad day for her anyway. Alison you will kill in a few years. I have a feeling.

Yeah, I read that too about Allison. I can't say I'm surprised either. I hope for her that she manages to continue doing what she loves. I think she still has lots of room to improve though and I don't think she'll ever make it big unless she works on some things, like trying to find a personal musical style and getting better at enunciating. Seems stupid I know, but I think it's a huge problem.

True. They jumped the gun on Allison, she just wasn't ready. Especially when they were releasing music from Kris and Adam at the same time, she got lost in the shuffle.

You know, I edited my post last night, but for some reason that version didn't post - so that's why there are so many spelling mistakes.

I was really glad I got to see Kris in this big venue. It was cool to hear a crowd of thousands people singing along to Live Like We're Dying, for example. He did things such as having the grandstands sing, and the spotlights were put on the grandstands, as they sang. There's a different energy all around - audience, and performers. I think I was so impressed with Kris last night because I've seen him play acoustic, twice. I didn't know he was as adept as he is at fronting a rock band and being a different kind of performer. And - he's only been doing this for less than a year.

Anyhow.

It was very windy, and it got really chilly, and then when Keith was on it started to rain. There was some lightning. We went up into the grandstands for a while because they were covered. Then it stopped - but it was pretty cold by the time Jack and Diane came around (around the middle of Keith's set).

I was a little bored by Keith's music, since I don't like country, either - though it's really more country rock - and the band really rocks. He's likeable, and he works really hard. He has a ton of energy. Best part of his set was probably when he came out into the audience and did a song standing on one of the seats - with his light-up guitar. I was glad I got to see him, since he's a big star, and it's always interesting to see and try to figure out why someone is a star.

It's funny but a lot of the bigger music stars are somewhat more generic in their musical tastes than I generally like. I thought this about Keith, He himself has a lot of individuality and personality, but his music is on the bland side. I mean the songs themselves, not the presentation.

It must be such a different vibe to see them in a big concert and especially since you've only really seen them do acoustic shows. (and I'm totally jealous of every single one of them, BTW lol) I can't say that I know any Keith Urban music aside from Kiss A Girl. Which would make a concert kinda hard to sing along to. (Which is half the fun) But I've loved the way he's gone out of his way for Kris this year. Couldn't ask for a nicer guy.

I'm glad you had fun and the weather didn't completely rain you out.

With the end of the summer tour I was just thinking about The Miami Taligate start to Kris and the Band's tour schedule and it's really hard to believe that it's only been a year. How good they were then.. and how much better they've gotten at each tour stop. It's kind of amazing actually.

BTW.. random fact. Chris Nathan and the Sam Roberts band are following each other on twitter. I wonder if they did shows together? (Sam Roberts band was the first person I thought of who I wanted Kris to tour with.. ha!)

Seems to me the sound is better now at outdoor concerts since the last one I remember - whenever that was. Anyone know if that's true? I'm sure sound systems in the digital age are better, right? Anyhow, Keith and his band played really loud - actually so did KAB - and the sound was not distorted at all, or annoying. I have to say, his band rocks hard. If the songs didn't have a country tinge, you'd just think it was rock. Loud drum and guitar-heavy stuff. Very, very good band. And Keith works the audience so well. He's funny, though it's not (to me) lol funny. Kris is lol funny, though he only said, like, one funny thing. No time.

I only knew Kiss A Girl, and that was the first song - and yes, I definitely enjoyed hearing a song I knew vs. the rest that I didn't - I even sang along. After that, nada. Reverse that, and you have Kris's situation, with many of Keith's fans only knowing LLWD, and the covers. (Actually, I thought there was a ripple of recognition when he announced The Truth, also.)

Keith's whole show - except for sing-alongs - is done in such a way that, I think the idea is, you'll have a good time even if you don't know him. He does the bit where he introduces his band and they do a talent show - showing other talents they have. Like, the guitar player sang. Etc. And he does something where he just sings a lot of random notes and has the audience try to copy whatever he just sang. It's all very family friendly, wholesome fun, but musically, very tight. He's great and his band is great. His energy is unbelievable. Also, if he isn't a really nice guy, I'd be surprised, since he absolutely gives off that vibe. Even as his bus was pulling out, he waved and smiled at people, when he could have ignored the few people standing there; some stars probably would have.

I wouldn't go out of my way to see Keith but let's say he was playing somewhere and I was on vacation and wanted something to do, I'd go. I'd recommend him to people in a very positive way.

Oh, yeah, I got to see him up close, talking to some cops who apparently were waiting to escort the whole convoy to the road. He's kind of medium size. A bit taller than Kris. Probably Torres-size (who I also saw, so I can compare). 5'9", I 'd guess. I don't know what Torres was doing. Both times I've seen him, he's reminded me of a hyper puppy.

Anyhow, I have to say, I wanted to go back to the bus earlier than we did go - right after the K - K duet. I knew this was probably the time to see Kris or the guys hanging out. But my Montreal friend wanted to wait, to see Keith's big number with the neon guitar and going into the audience - which was really good, I have to admit. Then she wanted to have tea. You can't get tea on the midway (coffee, yeah), but we had to try several places before she found that out. Then we stopped for home-made apple pie at one of the places she hoped to get tea. It was fun, I didn't mind at all - she's a lot of fun, and nice. Anyhow, when we finally got there, they were getting ready to leave, which wasn't too big a surprise to me. They were just waiting for Keith to come out and get on his bus. The minute he did, they pulled out.

I loved the new way Kris sings Is It Over. Have you heard that? Where he goes higher, and kind of growls a bit of it? Can't really explain. Very cool. Also, how he sings Heartless now (the Heartless part of the H/GP mashup). He seems to understand the beat, whether it's jazz, rock, r&b, or anything else. Instinctively. (Unlike, say, Casey James, who, when he tried to sing jazz, couldn't.) Andrew can also play jazz, rock, rockabilly. So I think from Kris and some of his band you get a musical subtlety and sophistication. I fail when I try to describe it, but I guess I know it when I hear it.

We were sitting somewhat close, yet still, pretty far away. They had a spotlight on Kris, who was wearing a white shirt - If he had worn some dark plaid shirt he wouldn't have stood out at all, so the white was a good idea. There were no video screens at this event. You could see all of Kris's moves, like on CSA, because he made them big - and some of the times the guys came togther to play were big. So it worked, but Andrew was wearing dark clothes and he didn't especially stand out all the time, nor did Cale (also in dark clothes).

Sorry if I'm repeating myself at all. I forget what I wrote, originally.

I'll post a few pictures on twitter now (3:00 pm).

I posted them now. Jeez.

It takes hours. They take forever to upload. Some blurry video, too. Yay!!
