I have to work on blurriness. My video is only blurry at concerts.

mtlfan says she's coming to the Boston show in October. A fan from Maine (jmatt on mj's blog, who I thought was a man but isn't), who we saw at the Vermont show, bought four tickets to Kris/Lifehouse, but is going alone. She bought them in case other people wanted them. Ninth row. Anyhow, mtlfan said she might use one.

Well, I hope you guys get to see Kris sometime. I felt his set was long this time around. Eight songs. Probably because that's the most I've ever seen him do, live. $77.00 wasn't really worth it for those seats, either. They weren't that good. I wouldn't pay that again unless I loved the headliner.

I'm on vacation this week, by the way. I wish I could have stayed in Vermont a couple more days, or driven up to Montreal, since I was only 73 miles away. I don't even have a passport, though. I didn't even think I'd be going until a couple of weeks ago, actually. I'm not going anywhere else on my vacation, just day-tripping.

It's awesome to me that these guys are covering a fairly obscure Kris Allen song. I think their sincerity is greater than their talent. They're at Harding U., in Arkansas. Though the singer is from NY, as he says.

This is from the show I saw. If you watch it all, you'll see a shot of the venue near the end.

Kris was much better in his own set than he was doing this. The band sounded great, that's mainly what I enjoyed about it. I don't think this is a great song for Kris as it's not his style - and he doesn't really sing. Anyhow, he seemed less than enthused, at times.

I have no idea why this is underlined.

eee.. the fans compared an Adam concert to a trekkie convention or comic-con.. yikes. Not saying that those things can't be fun.. there's just a certain stigma that maybe an aspiring rock star doesn't really want to be caught up in.

I love the fact that I Need to Know is getting noticed. It's probably my favourite song on the album. :) But yeah.. that guys version wasn't what I'd hope it would be.

Heartless gaining spins in Atlanta? LOL. How crazy is that? It has gone rogue. I think they probably would have pushed it on more stations if The Fray hadn't released their version to radio too. The probably figured it was too many versions within a certain amount of time. I love that Kris's version is lasting though. :)

Lizzie uploaded another version of Boys of Summer. Lizzie's getting chatty on youtube now. :)

I think Kris (and KAB!!) need a hook-up with whoever is doing Hedley's videos. I love both of Kris's videos - they're gorgeous, but I'd like to see Kris's sense of humour in a video I think.

'Cause it's pretty darn irresistible.

What I said in my post was that when Adam was asked what kind of music he wanted to do (after Idol ended), he said he wanted to do music that made people want to dance, have fun, and be sexy. I knew more or less that the audience that description would attract is the audience he's got now. Why, I don't know.

All riiiight, Canada! :canada:

Hedley doing videos like Cha-Ching seems like the usual pop punk stuff. I can't see Kris doing anything that chaotic. Never Too Late would be more like it. Hedley has made mostly serious videos, though, I think.*

I would agree that Kris's humor needs to come out in a video. Him and the band.

The Truth video is similar to LLWD in that Kris is alone. If I were them, I wouldn't do too much of that. He needs to be with the band, or with anyone. I assumed the lyrics of TT plus the participation of Cindy Vela might indicate he'd have a love interest in the video. I mean, he has a wife but I hope that doesn't mean he can't do some acting, in a video, with another woman.

The other thing is that, like Jacob, Kris is actually more of a standout with the band than he is alone. (imho) Playing with a band brings a lot of extras out in him. (This is interesting because, unlike Jacob, Kris wasn't band-oriented from the start. This is his first time with a band. But it just seems like it fits, doesn't it?)

Yeah, I'm not saying Kris should make a video like cha-ching, or even 1-2-3 - just something that shows a different side of him - more of his sense of humour and personality. And you're right Kris + the band really shows that. (Okay, mainly I want him out of the desert - and ugly suits with piped collars) The band just has a great easy chemistry together.. plus all of them are pretty easy on the eyes. So I think that would come across really well in a video.

Damn - okay - this is really a thinly veiled attempt to get a live video version of IIO as a video with the full band. That would be awesome-sauce.

This underling is very distracting.. :sign7:

Huh? (ETA: Underlining?)

The lines under the words. underlining. I may have spelled it wrong though.. hmm.. or am I the only one still in underline hell? LOL

Jacob did sound weird. I did recognize him though. But very odd voice.

No underlines on my end. Though everything is blue.

I remember reading the blog of a guy who went to high school with Jacob, who said Jacob was racist, based on his attitude to Indians and Pakistanis, in his home town, back then. So, if true, it's nice that Jacob has become a person who's working against racism. Not that you should believe everything you read.

Kind of surprised at how some people see Kris. I've been respectfully disagreeing with some people on Top Idol who seem to think he's another Mat Kearney or Amos Lee. Or that Brand New Shoes represents the "true" Kris. I just don't see this. I've never seen Kris as anything other than a pop rock singer, with some acoustic tendencies, rather than the other way around. I don't see BNS, from five years ago, as a direction Kris is likely to go in. I love dynamic, rocking Kris, with his big voice, and KAB. I also like the other side of Kris when he slows it down, or quiets it down. It's all who he is, and I expect him to continue in that vein, putting on a great show.

As for David Cook, missaddicted, I'm assuming his CD is going to have his band on it, but are they going to go by the name "The Anthemic" on the album?

Well, I guess Allison is officially off the Jive label. But still with 19E. People are saying Universal may pick her up now that they are Idol's label. What do you think?

What do you think about this past summer and her opening for Adam? I wondered if this was the only tour, or the best tour, they could get her on. I always figured Adam's fans would be really good to her, but I'm not sure, now -were they? Or was it all abouot him, and did they just tolerate her? I was also surprised that Adam didn't duet with her (did he? Maybe he did).

I'm sure David would want this for sure. Will RCA do it? I have very big doubts. I hope they do.

What I find encouraging is that yesterday, they posted a new video on David's website and they wrote:

Curious to know what David's been up to in the studio these past few months? Check out some great footage of David Cook and his band recording their brand new album and get a sneak peek of what the songs will sound like. Are you excited for David's new album?

The "their" made me happy.

Preview David Cook's New Album | DavidCookOfficial.com

Anyway, it includes stuff from the studio, but also hilarious parts where you can see David during his training. Not sure why it was included, but it's funny. Fans were actually kind of upset that it doesn't actually give us a sneek peek at what the songs will sound like (as advertised), except for a few guitar lines.

I agree with you both. I think Kris will always follow the music. Whatever he's feeling at the time will be what he sounds like. We all said it so long ago - organic. When you watch as many youtube videos of Kris and the band doing the same songs so many times it really is interesting the variations in the same songs, and how they evolve. I think the best thing Kris and the band could do before recording a new album is play the songs live for awhile and see how they settle. Whether they'll have that opportunity is another matter. Acoustic Kris, Bluesy jammy Kris, rocking Kris. They're all him.

Well, I guess Allison is officially off the Jive label. But still with 19E. People are saying Universal may pick her up now that they are Idol's label. What do you think?

Well, who knows really? I've always thought she wasn't ready - whatever that means. I bought her album, but I don't listen to it much since for me it doesn't really sound like her. It's fine, there are some fun songs on it, and there are a couple I really like, but it - more so than Adam or Kris's - seemed almost forced. (Not sure that's the right way to put it) I know the critics seemed to like Allison's CD way more than Kris and Adams - but I never got that. I think she's mad talented, but she's got to find her own voice and direction - she knows who she isn't - now she has to figure out who she is.

Oh. And you were asking about Universal (LOL) - my answer is maybe ? If she presents to them something that they think they can sell, then yes. Age is on her side here. She'll have other opportunities. It's just whether or not she recognizes them and makes the most of them that's key.

I guess I think of singers that were signed young in her genre and then dropped or changed labels, like Pink, Katy Perry and Fefe Dobson. They all had to figure out who they were and I think Allison is really at this part of her career. I mean she's 18 - it might actually be the best thing to happen to her. She doesn't want to be stuck on a label that isn't interested in promoting or developing her. I think she has more options this way.

Maybe he did)
.

I was thinking about this today (because clearly AI and it's contestants are all I think about, LMAO) and while it was a great opportunity to tour with Adam and sing in front of thousands a night. She was never going to get her own spotlight on this tour. It was all about Adam - he's like a media blackhole - Orianthi never even really got press from this tour. Orianthi was in Canada with Adam and I never heard a peep about her for example.

I think Allison would have been better off doing small shows with other artists away from typical Idol fans. Maybe they couldn't get them for her? Maybe it all just comes back to the fact that she's not ready, and needs some time to mature - musically I mean. Or maybe all she really needed was to focus on touring with a younger overall crowd. Maybe tour with Archie or one of the disney hordes.

Because while Adam's fans liked her and supported her, they didn't come to see her. Not really.

I'm sure David would want this for sure. Will RCA do it? I have very big doubts. I hope they do.

I hope they do too. David and his band have certainly made their preferences known, I hope they get to follow their own path.

Am I a bad person if I say the Kris fans on MJ's drive me almost as crazy as the Adam fans? They just...I don't know. It's like they have to pick him apart, follow his every move, comment on every detail. We aren't like that, are we? 8O I think I just like him, I don't want to manage him. I need to go over there for the news, but there's so much stupid stuff.

This ^ is a reaction to the Hall of Fame induction thread. Kris sang Man In The Mirror. One person said this:

Congratulations Kris! Great night! Just one thought: He really, really needs to start playing his own music. I know he loves that song, and it’s one he has worked to sing alone, but SMAYA would have been a great message for tonight. I hope he picks one of his own songs and works out a solo arrangements.

I mean, what business is this of hers? (I've heard Kris sing this live three times, btw.The first time, I almost cried, seriously, it was so incredibly touching. I'm not ashamed to say it. Most of the people there will be hearing it for the first time, as well.) This person wasn't there, didn't hear it, doesn't care if it was an amazing performance, whatever. She's already decided he shouldn't be doing it. He should have done SMAYA ( I hate those damn acronyms!). What the hell? Just...

Go away.

I didn't read the comments, but in that case, I actually understand his fans who are pissed. Well, I didn't care for the bad review, but his "review" wasn't actually one. He made it into a rant, a completely useless social commentary that I found didn't have much to do at all with Adam himself. I rolled my eyes several times while reading that "review".

Apparently, someone from David's management or RCA said recently that David's album won't be released before the end of 2010. Not that I'm that shocked because he's obviously not done at all, but I do wonder what's taking so long. When you hear that bands record albums in 2 weeks, it makes you question why David and crew have already been in the studio for 3 months, and that was after months and months of prior songwriting with various people.

Maybe the fans have a right to be pissed, but the comments are still over the top. Including threats.

as an adam lambert fan, i feel deeply offended and insulted by what you wrote about both adam and his fans and I DEMAND A PUBLIC APOLOGY. do we need to collect signatures to get it or will you just apologise and get it over with?

This is the second review I've read for which they've demanded a public apology.

Then there's this:
WTF? You do know that Adam did not win American Idol right? Even though he is outselling the "winner" more than 2 to 1 and it has nothing to do with feeling guilty. If anything America should feel guilty that they voted ANYONE over the superior singer that is Adam Lambert.

And this:
I always love the opportunity to publicly praise Adam Lambert as the innovative artist and beautiful spirited person that he is! I'll elaboarate; Hot & sexy, charismatic, brilliant & outrageous vocals, a sweetness that can't be denied, the ability to be totally himself, incredible work ethic, and he's becoming very successful because of all that. Oh and I forgot to mention he's gay, which for some strange reason, makes him all that HOTTER to me! If I really wanted to go overboard, I would add that he is the new guru of love and light in the universe, spreading positivity where e're he treads! I adore Adam lambert and thank you for the opportunity to tell everyone so, once again!! Let me also quickly add that time is running out to catch a Glam Nation concert here in the states, but Adam's overseas tour begins end of the month.

David has been in the studio a long time, huh? I don't know much about how long people take to make albums. I know it varies a lot. I felt the same way about Kalan Porter. One day he announced he was going to start writing, and then the messages from him gradually dwindled down to silence. Months turned into a year, then more than a year. No public performances, and no album. And then, unfortunately, he was dropped by Sony. I don't really get what people do. It seems like remaining in the public eye is important. At least Cook has done some performing, not just gone into hiding.

We aren't like that, are we?

Yeah, we never talk about him.... lol :wav:

It's hard to say why bands release cd's when they do, some release follow-ups right away and then others take years to do so.

David seemed excited about the music he was writing, so maybe it's the label that wasn't as excited, or it wasn't what they thought and they're sticking their two cents in. I hope David wins the war, whatever the battle. He deserves to put out the music that he wants to.

I do think I recognize the writing style of the person you quoted. :) It seems to me I've read that comment before.. many times. Crappy review but website hits were what they were going for, I'm sure it's no surprise to them the reaction that Adam's fans had.

Well, this is a legitimate newspaper; an alternative weekly in Houston, TX.

I think this is a regular review, not done just for website hits. That is, I think it was written to appear in the print edition.

Also a picture of snapcracklypop. These are the uber-fans, I guess. They seem to be at everything. This one is from Arkansas, but s-c-p is from California. You have to wonder how they do it (and how they always get in, to everything, win every contest, etc.).
