I'm still waiting. Tick...tick...tick...

Yes, well it might be more a matter of flip.. flip... (pages of the calendar flipping) years rather than minutes. :) Doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

Does this mean that if it's a sold out show, whoever writes the Kris thread can write that his show is SOLD OUT? Know what I'm referring to?

LOL - I do, I do.

I think that 2nd show might get a little raucous. I'm really jealous. I can't imagine too many hardcore fans leaving after show #1 - can you? After all you're already there.....might as well do it all again.

BTW I LOVE that concert review. Even though the Examiner is somewhat sketchy at times.

ETA: Okay MOST of the time. But clearly this guy is very discriminating.

Well, we need something to counter Kerry Kolsch and her rantings about the cheating, lying Allen family (also on Examiner.com, I think).

Yes, well it might be more a matter of flip.. flip... (pages of the calendar flipping) years rather than minutes. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

I don't want to seem cynical. I just believe that after all this time if any of these people are still trying to get over a case of nerves, they might be in the wrong business. Performers enjoy performing; they're scared, but they do it anyway. Inexperience? I guess the Top 10 of AI often lack experience, but they make up for it in raw talent. You can only learn so much. The raw talent has to be there. Or the star quality.

Still, I understand what you're saying. I kind of feel that way about Garcia the most. But he has a way to go yet.

Kind of cool that Kris's show almost a month from now, on July 24th, is already sold out.

Anthology, San Diego's Award-winning Live Music Venue and Fine Dining Restaurant

But now people are worried he will not be able to sing two sets in one night. (I shouldn't look at blogs. I never think of this stuff, then I read it, and it gets on my nerves.) By the way, I thought "SD" stood for South Dakota, when I read people's comments. Now I see it's San Diego.

Thanks for the SF interview and the other links. Kris is getting way more comfortable in interviews.

Damn. I love his voice.

It is an otherworldly voice sent from heaven!!! A rare, priceless gift given to us by the most stunningly sexy person ever put on this earth!!! How can a mere human being be so talented and gorgeous??? He must be a beautiful alien from another planet!!!

Oh, wait, that's the other one.

This one?

Yeah, I love his voice, too. Damn. So good.

Unfortunately you have to log in to read this full story, and I didn't.

I think "mywaytoday" has been visiting this site:

Kris Allen Offers Lee DeWyze Some Advice: The MTV News Quote Of The Day MTV Newsroom

I have to give Zack Efron, er, I mean, Timmy Urban, credit for balls, anyhow. (And a small pass for saying he wants to work with Kris. At least the kid has good taste.)

Yep, Kris' voice? So good.

Timmy's version of Viva La Vida is not too bad. Kind of lacks the "oomph" of when Coldplay does it live though.

I watched a couple of Lee videos from last night. He sounded good and energetic to me, but he's going to kill his voice if he sings like that every night. Maybe he should use a little restraint.

There used to be a YouTube vid of Faber being brought onstage taped up, on the dolly, with "Hedley" on his chest. I can't find it any more. It was (I don't use the term loosely) epic. I think FD got them back by picking up a lot of road kill and putting it in their dressing room. Which reportedly caused Dave Rosin to do this: :pukeright:. But that may have been a different time.

It sucks bands have to do so much for themselves. I'm not sure why things changed, in this way. Anybody have any ideas? Seems crazy they can't depend more on their management for that.

I totally forgot Krikkit's real name is "Jeremy Liddle."

By the way, does anyone know how much they eneded up raising?

Tim Urban didn't sound awful. That is high praise coming from me. He has a pretty bad sense of rhythm, though. A lot of people don't care about that. It's something I tend to notice about Adam. (I know, I always say that.) When it's not natural, I notice. White-guy rhythm, kind of. (Still much better than Tim, of course.) Matt G. has a very good sense of rhythm, Casey has it, and of course Kris - innate. imho. Sorry, but I guess that's an important factor, to me.

Just heard on Etalk that Jully Black will be opening for Kanye on certain dates overseas. Go Jully.

Good for her. Of course, she's much better than him. Speaking of overseas, that's cool about Theo entertaining the troops in Afganistan.

ETA: I just read on another site that "Q3" (of MJ's Blog/Planet Fierce fame) is planning on following Adam on his Asian tour. And someone else on Top Idol said they talked to a woman at an Adam concert who is planning on attending 17 shows. Make of it all what you will.

Would not want a prank battle with Hedley. They're nuts.

This is cool. It's a really far away video from the Kiss concert in Boston. Crowd was loving it.

Thanks. I was loving it too. I kinda wish I'd gone to that. If I'd known he was going to go last and get to do all those songs, I think I might have.

ETA: I haven't heard The Truth on the radio lately. I heard Adam's new song for the first time on Kiss108 yesterday. I don't want to be predictable but I didn't really care for it. lol (Well, I like dance music if it's more hardcore. I'm finding his music kind of "neither fish nor fowl." If he busted loose, maybe.)

My computer is telling me not to go on MJ's blog, with a big, red warning shield. So I'm not a' goin'.

Do you realize what it will cost to do what she plans on doing? And how long will it be? I would wish her well except the bitch is always saying natsy things about Kris so **** her. (Did I say that? :angel7:)

Sorry, I think I linked to some of those videos before, but I couldn't remember which ones (maybe all? Oh, well). Anyhow, my favorite might be the one where the guy tries to prank Jacob by climbing all over him, and Jacob won't let him get the upper hand at all, and makes him kind of look like a loser. Jacob is tenacious.

That's interesting about Island Def Jam. In a way I hope Hedley doesn't become big here. I don't even know why I feel that way.

Yeah she was tweeting that people using IE were getting security messages. I think it was link to Fun Office Pools and might be fixed now.

Uh, yeah. Wish I had her money source.

Jacob is tenacious and pretty much can't be embarrassed. A bad type of person to prank.

A lot of Idol tour stops were cancelled. I feel bad for the Season 9 peeps.

Kris freaking out the band by going off the set list and playing God Bless the USA.

The good thing is, he probably won't sing that again until next fourth of July (I hate that song).

It's not on my play list either (no offense USA) just never gonna make the ipod.

I think they cancelled a few and rearranged a few.

MJ's lists UPDATE: Cleveland officially canceled according to USA Today. It’s not looking good for the other dates–Omaha, Buffalo and Kansas City that are listed at Ticketmaster as no longer available.

I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel or move the Toronto date. They're playing the Air Canada centre which is a larger venue than Copps was last year, although if they cancel Buffalo... they might get those people.

It's definitely no offense to the USA! What a stupid song. He should have done This Land Is Your Land, or some decent song, but, whatevs.

Looking at the concert thread on MJ's, it seems the opening band played for way too long. People were even tweeting about it. Then apparently Kris was cut off or had to stop because there were fireworks scheduled. So his set was short.

Ugh, the Canada Day peeps did Share the Land. Trust me it wasn't good either.

Major, major fail. Fireworks or Kris Allen. I choose Kris.

This is really sad for those kids (kids/adults). I mean, they aren't all that wonderful, or interesting, but they have talent, and they were excited to tour. I feel bad for them. I don't feel bad for Idol. I blame Idol.

I've been wondering about something you said, once, SleepinIn. About the way AI treated Adam and Kris this season, and the loss of credibility because of that. If the show makes it look like what they're hyping - winning - is meaningless, the show is meaningless. It no longer matters. I know I felt totally played. That's one reason this season held no meaning for me. I wonder how many other people just felt they were somehow being manipulated and didn't like it.

I guess Woody Guthrie doesn't suit Kris either.

Me too. But it's (almost) 4th of July, and 4th = fireworks. I don't especially know what went on, but it was really rude of that other band to play long. Don't they work this stuff out beforehand? Remember the time (was it San Diego?) Sara Bareilles opened for Kris? Sophie 103.7. She's a much bigger name than this band tonight, but she didn't hog the stage.

I think that and hyping the judges more than the contestants. I mean it was apparent all last year that it was a year about Simon and Paula/Ellen. It's not about them at all, and the show forgot that. Nigel Lythgoe even remarked on it. If the show doesn't promote their own discoveries and celebrate them, then they can't expect anyone else to do so either. This show was a success all over the world. Only two versions had Simon.

I don't know what happened with Sister Hazel either but someone just tweeted that Kris did sing LLWD so maybe the cut off was the Falling Slowly / Come Together encore. They had a lot of issues with this show due to the venue being switched due to the weather so maybe that also played some sort of a part.

Hm. You've said this before, but honestly? I guess I didn't notice that the judges were hyped any more this past year than they were in season 8. Actually I don't really know what you (or Nigel) mean by it. How were they hyped more, this past season? I know they had to publicize Ellen as a new judge, (and it was Simon's last year, so that got a lot of press), but I didn't really see the judges getting more attention than usual. I actually thought they were kind of subdued compared to season 8.

I mean, I don't see how the jusges overshadowed the show (any more than they usually do). I just thought the contestants were dull.

Well, I guess I'm thinking about how the press focused on Simon and Paul and Ellen, from the end of season 8 almost every interview included a questions about the judges. What do you think about Paula leaving? What do you think about Ellen's judging? What do you think about Simon leaving? Will the show survive?

Maybe I was just sensitive to it, I don't know? But I really did feel that there was an emphasis on the judges this year.

Yes, that's true. I kind of thought it was just a case of the media needing to ask something, anything, and that that was the hot topic. But I guess I didn't think it stole focus. But you may be right. Good point.

I also think that, obviously, the show was messed up because they had to work out the logistics of having all those guest judges. And I also thought that the guest judges might not necessarily be good judges of talent, or of what makes a successful AI contestant. I would rather have seen the show do the auditions with three judges, and add Ellen later, than to have all those guest judges.

Ultimately, though, the cast was really disappointing. I remember there being a week when I thought, "This week they have to bring it. And they will." Only they didn't. So I gave them one more week. And then one more. Then I realized they were never going to bring it. The show wasn't entertaining, because the contestants weren't good enough. Remember when missaddicted said there needed to be Idol moments? There really weren't any.

For this I do blame the judges. There were a lot of people, mainly guys, in the Top 100, who were good. Some seemed to be good looking and have charisma, as well as good voices. (remember several guys who said Kris inspired them? What happened to them?) Why didn't some of these people make the cut, and why did people like Paige and Lacey and Aaron make the cut?

I don't know what went on, but something seemed forced in the wrong direction this year. I swear they left behind some excellent guys and picked some mediocre guys on purpose (so the guys wouldn't be better than the girl, or girls, they hoped would win?) Hey, maybe they didn't want a guy to win because they didn't want to steal focus from their darling Adam.

Then something happened to sour them on Crystal and they seemed to grasp at Lee like drowning men.

Then there was all the Kris-Adam strangeness. The whole season was weird and it always seemed like there was more going on than met the eye. Agendas. The show is always manipulated, but it seemed so crazy this year.

Sorry, that was kind of a long post. I just kept on adding to it.

I was just looking at MJ's and people have various things to say about last season.
Blaming singer-songwriter types for being dull performers, for ex. That gets me mad so I left the site.

I'm interested to read the recap of last night's Kris concert, in the Kris thread, over there, when it goes up (the person has to go to church first. The nerve of some people).

Have you guys noticed that the Adam concert thread seems to always go first on MJ's? Or does she alternate?

If you're interested in interviews with the season 9 idols, here are some. "Lee, what's with the big head?"

Sorry, but this gives you an idea why the Season 9 idols are so boring. Interviews with Season 8 were a tad more interesting. Just saying. A smidgin more interesting. Maybe.

And maybe some people from season 8 were nicer than Katie Stevens. And smarter than all of them? Oh, boy. Can't wait till next season. Bring on the 15 year olds! Now that's gonna be some intelligent convo.

Free advice: You can blow up the videos, so you don't have to watch those little postage stamps.
