I'm gonna not stress the Truth. Jive will do what they'll do (curse them, and if they release the Pat version - it damn well better sell)

Well, after they release the Pat version and it bombs and ruins Kris's career, maybe they'll have room for an eighth ex-idol at the next Collingwood show. I'm sure Kris will have some nice covers he can sing with Paul Clifford.

(Not that I'm feeling negative or anything.)

I don't want to predict doom and gloom, but I'm not feeling positive about it either ross.

I was talking to a fellow Cook/Kris fan on twitter. She LOVES The Truth and wanted it as next single, but she also thinks Pat adds nothing to the song and that he ruined the bridge.

How can you stand the excitement?

I had to kinda take a break from angst. You fell asleep - I watched them eat dinner. They had burgers.

The thing is, I already don't trust 19 and their friends at all right now. And a lot of things they do just confirm that I'm right in not trusting them.

Oh, they are not trustworthy in the least. You're right. Kris fan revolution.

Kris singing the bridge was the best part of the song.

I'm astounded so many people who love The Truth have come out of the woodwork. Where were they all the time people were speculating on the next single. I don't think I read five posts from people saying The Truth was their choice.

Guys, the recording has only been out a few hours, no one has said it's going to be the next single, so there's no need to grin and bear it, quite yet. Relax. If Jive wanted to announce this as the single, they would have. It's quite possible a lot of people at the label dislike it also. If all of them were sure, they wouldn't be asking for any feedback. They can hardly release it now, at least not 'as is', with such a horrible introduction to the fans, can they? Remember, the reaction to LLWD being leaked was really positive.

I didn't fall asleep as a reaction to all the angst. I'm just a lazy-ass kristard. My comment was just supposed to be faux anti-Timmeh snark. Hoped it'd give you some grins. :)

The thing is, I already don't trust 19 and their friends at all right now. And a lot of things they do just confirm that I'm right in not trusting them.

I don't trust the bastards at 19, either, but who are these friends I'm supposed to be wary of?

I haven't given this thing any thought, so I'm just talking off the top of my head, as it were, but I have faith in Jive; not sure why, but I do. (Not 19, and maybe Kris would be better off not managed by 19. When can he end that, anyway?)

Jive probably did marketing surveys and found The Truth was popular. The song is too long and had to be re-recorded for radio. Since some time has passed, and the album was recorded in haste, they probably wanted to rearrange it a bit. Then because Hey Soul Sister is such a huge hit, someone got the bright idea to have Pat M. come in and sing on the record, so that they can market the song and tie it in with that hit in people's minds.

I think they think like business people, not artists, and this is how they came up with this semi-disaster (and I think, honestly, it's awful -- I haven't been able to listen to it a second time) -- i. e., with the best of intentions.

Maybe tonight they released this thinking they'd get a lot of positive feedback, and are now shocked at the result. Maybe they were divided, with some people thinking it was great and others thinking it sucked, so they decided, "Let's put it out there and see which of us the fans agree with." Maybe Kris doesn't like it, and they put it out there to prove to him he's wrong, and it backfired.

One thing, though -- I remember Kris said they were certain that when they released LLWD it was going to be a big hit for him. There doesn't seem to be that certainty with this, or they would have just released it.

Hilarious parody of some of the MJ's blog commenters by deez, on Top Idol:

NY TIMES
Friday, Apr 23, 2010
Las Vegas- Season 8 American Idol winner, Kris Allen, was in town today preparing for his stint as warm-up act for Country star Keith Urban. The mild mannered Arkansas native was seated outside his hotel signing autographs when a fan pointed out a disturbing sight overhead. Dangling from a 4th story window, was 8 year old Susan Conway who had ventured out onto her balcony in search of her “Hello Kitty” purse which she had left on the railing. As she reached for her purse, little Susan fell and was dangling by her ankles, ass-over-teacups. Mr. Allen alertly rushed to the scene and scaled the outside of the hotel wall. He swung himself over the ledge and grabbed Susan, pulling her to safety. Susan’s mother, Mystee, age 29, of Provo Utah, later told reporters that Kris is truly an American hero.

Comments:

Glamass: Jeebus, that Chris Alan is a douche. He could have seriously injured that child pulling her over a balcony like that.

Moorticia: No wonder he climbs so well, he looks like a midget monkey.

SweetSexySean: I am an out and proud gay man, and I don’t care who knows it. I was hit by a car driven by my 3rd cousin twice-removed as I was running away from a serial-killer who turned out to be my evil twin who suffers from paranoid dyslexia. Please donate to my site: SSSheartsJohnnyWeir.com.

Kerry Kolsch: This never should have happened. That boring squirt is no Adam Lambert. Adam is an International Superstar who has “people” to do that sort of thing for him.

Q3: Statistics show that rescuers who are untrained, no matter how well-intentioned end up causing more harm:
46% suffered additional trauma
12% suffered emotional stress
8% were sent to the hospital for extended stays, resulting in financial hardships
3% smeared their lipstick
Kris really should leave this sort of thing to trained personnel!!!!!!

Windy: Krtuty Allop ****er hoiuy not do l,pouu “hooo”??? Blopp godtfarp blimvv klinxx!!!

I'm astounded so many people who love The Truth have come out of the woodwork. Where were they all the time people were speculating on the next single. I don't think I read five posts from people saying The Truth was their choice.

I don't know. I've always read some very positive comments on The Truth, even though it wasn't necessarily THE favorite. Like the twitter friend I was talking about, TT was always her favorite from the album. I can't say I've seen more support for The Truth tonight than what I've seen before, you have?

The friends I was talking about are mainly the labels, Jive, RCA, etc.

I don't know, if I had wanted to make a business decision, I would've looked at the positive attention that AWM got in the Ford ads and build on that. Isn't it obvious? You hear a song on the radio and then you wonder where you heard it before and then you remember that it was from that Ford ad with the cute guy from American Idol, win-win, no? And it would have made even more sense if the song was already out while the ads are still playing. I can't believe they didn't build on that. The ads air during the most watched program on TV and also the program where the artist was discovered. I don't know, it was so obvious to me. Even more direct than doing surveys and what not.

Also, the uncertainty you're talking about ross, I find that it's just another reason not to trust them. Lots of good songs to choose from and you don't even seem certain of the choice you're making? Doesn't look good. And now, they do look to the fans as though they're hesitating. It shouldn't have been that long for them to announce a new single. The more they wait, the more they look as though they're not sure of what they're doing.

Oops, one more thing. What gets me about all the comments on KAO is that first most of them started out saying they don't even want The Truth as the next single at all -- the P. Monahan version, or any version. Then a bit later, they all say they don't want Pat Monahan singing the bridge, and that Kris does it so much better, so if it's going to be the next single, they want Kris to sing it, not Pat. But now no one seems to be mentioning that they don't want TT and they want AWM (or BWCU). It's amazing how quickly people go from "never!" to benign acceptance. That took, what? about four hours?

Maybe it's some kind of reverse psychology -- get us to hate the Pat Monahan version so much that we'll beg for the original version, then they'll release the original and everyone will be happy. With a song they didn't want in the first place.

missaddicted, yup, not only is AWM in the Ford ads, but people have been overwhelmingly voting for it for months in every poll asking what people prefer for the next single (with BWCU usually coming in second). Also, due to the Ford ads, and its popularity, it has already sold tens of thousands of copies.

I don't know. I've always read some very positive comments on The Truth, even though it wasn't necessarily THE favorite. Like the twitter friend I was talking about, TT was always her favorite from the album. I can't say I've seen more support for The Truth tonight than what I've seen before, you have?

The favorites for 2nd single (from all my forum reading) have been, #1, AWM, #2, BWCU, #3 CSA, Mainly these three, at first, then later on, a couple of the ballads (not TT) seemed to become more popular than CSA. It does seem to me that more people are saying tonight that they love TT than I've ever read before.

That was awesome. Brought back finale memories. Good song choice (and not a country song). Wonder if Kris is opening for Don Henley? I'm still trying to figure it out...

Ha, It bugs me there were *crickets* when he says "Kris Allen". Especially at the University of Tulsa (Oklahoma. Not far from Arkansas! Damn!) He bugs me, too, actually. I hope people didn't pay to watch this guy signing to pop songs. But I'm glad he chose LLWD, of course.:roll::roll:
