It's on the home page, on the top right, there's a little music player.

Just the fact that they posted it for streaming seems to indicate that it will be the single. Ugh.

Going to listen now.

I know right.

I don't like that song. I have to be honest. I just don't like it. I don't think I ever will. Adding Pat's vocals to it doesn't add anything. In fact, it actually made me like the song even less, if that's possible.

Actually, the main part where they added his voice is where I think Kris sounds super strained, so it could be positive, but it's not, it just sounds awkward.

I commented on the website.

If the other guy singing on the song was a huge star I might think it's a good idea for Kris to "duet" with him and thus get some attention that would be shared with said huge star. But it's just Pat Monahan from Train.

I never liked this song much, though it's not bad -- however I've always hated the arrangement and I was hoping the new one was softer and more acoustic-feeling. I don't understand why the band has to sound so crashingly loud and overblown. It's very overdone-sounding, to me, and Kris always sounds like he's yelling.

Do you think Kris likes this? He knows himself so well (seemingly). What he likes to sing, what suits him. He's great at suiting songs to his voice and arranging things to make them his own. I'm surprised because I thought they (Jive) understood how he's 'organic'. This song is a bad fit for him.

And I've always loved the Truth, but this makes me hate it.

You like the original, then? For the single? (I just don't, unfortunately.)

Isn't the original supposed to be too long for radio (btw)?

Are you guys going to comment on KAO? You should. Jive is listening, obviously.

What's interesting (though not surprising) is that many of the people commenting don't like the song, not just this version of it.

The one thing I wish people would stop saying about AWM is that it's "summery" or is a "summer single." That's nonsense. It has nothing to do with the season, it's just a great song. I've been listening to it since September, all through the winter, after all. It's been performed by Kris all through the winter. "Summer song?" my ass. Jive would never want to release a song that's only popular in the summer.

I could see the original being a big hit on radio. I would like AWM to be released first, but I really DNW Pat Monahan's The Truth.

But yeah, It also makes me think Jive doesn't "get" Kris. Which is soooo frustrating.

They cut some stuff in the version they're streaming. Like the chorus goes directly into the second verse and they also cut the end. So be scared, be very scared.

Oh, I guess I could picture the original doing well, even being a massive hit, but I think there's something cheesy about it that doesn't have much to do with how I think of Kris. I don't know if cheesy is the right word. It's just too commercial, in the wrong sense of the word, for him. Also, I can picture a girl singing it. Jordin, maybe.

I'm avoiding MJ's blog.

Elaborating a little, on the above post -- Falling Slowly, Heartless, LLWD, AWM, CSA, these are Kris, to me. They sound like him and they kind of describe or elaborate on who he is as an artist. This song is just like an anamoly, to me. It's too sappy. He's never sappy. He's cool. Danny Gokey is sappy.

Reason #12 why I don't want The Truth to be released as a single (not second single anyway) is that I don't see it getting airplay on Pop radio. Do you, SleepinIn? On HAC, possibly, but it'll end up being like Come Back to Me, which was just playing on HAC and while it was popular on HAC and played for a long time, I don't even think CBTM sold 300,000 copies and it didn't drive the sales of the album. I kind of foresee the same future for The Truth and I don't want that.

People are really pissed!

In the comments in KAO:

Hey, check it out, y'all! NOT A SINGLE PERSON ON THE SITE ACTUALLY LIKES THIS.
The underlay of Monaghan's vocals gives the entire song a wheezy double-breath feel, and you went ahead and gave the most emotionally fraught lines to someone who is, um, not the artist. Was this version designed to undercut the direct emotion of the original? Unfortunately, when people listen to music, they tend to listen to... music. Not the title of the music being read in a grave tone of epic importance. Therefore, any unpaid intern on your staff ought to be able to tell you that releasing this version of The Truth as FT PAT MONAGHAN OMG is going to fail epically as a marketing strategy, because it sucks, and nobody wants to listen to things that suck. Evidenced by this forum of Kris fans who are telling you that... it sucks.
So, here's what you are going to do. Shoot the sound mixer, take this version out back and incinerate it, fire his PR. Leave The Truth alone. Then release Alright With Me as a single. Next week. Okay? Jesus, it's really not that hard.

I want to ask you both something. How do you think this song would sound in a softer, quieter, more intimate version, where Kris sings it introspectively, instead of belting it? Can you envision it?

No, I can't see them playing it on Pop radio. I agree. HAC

The Accoustic version's of the Truth are amazing.
