There's an album with a DVD? No, there was only one there, in the store - and it was just a regular CD. It was an impulse buy. I wasn't planning to buy that album. I'm not wild about it. But maybe it will grow on me now.

I like your answer to my demanding question. What you said about Gunnin'... I think nobody would know that song was about anorexia if they hadn't been told. (And even then, I can't figure out how it's about anorexia.) But anyway - I think the songs have become more literal for the reason you say, but also I think Jacob probably wants to be more simple and direct because he wants to entertain, with stuff like Sweater Song.

Jacob's voice has improved a lot since "old Hedley" and CI2. He said that on CI he used to eat yogurt before perfoming - and that's what he sounded like, too, sometimes. (Thanks for the link!)

So is The Truth a hit in Brazil, or what? Seems like it based on the number of tweets every day.

Yes, a live album with a DVD called - Go With the Show. The original was The Show Must Go. It's a good marketing idea I wish Kris had put out a live CD. I can only dream about a DVD. :)

I doubt that's available in the US, in stores. Probably just online? They're still basically unknown here. :(

Interesting how Kris's comments about the Idol judges were picked up by so many sources. He's still being quoted. lol

(Here are a couple new pics from a Japanese fashion magazine: http://twitpic.com/3sy2fk http://twitpic.com/3sy2gt) Gray jeans are being worn by a lot of guys here currently. Personally, I think I started this trend last year, but whatever. :) Ha.

It was a big release here, they actually aired the DVD on much - after the fact. But you're right maybe not available in the US.

Kris's comments being picked up didn't surprise me (much) watch how much MTV news stuff gets picked up by the general press. Plus with the new judges the papers etc were looking for sound bites and -- sound bites from a winner of AI? Even better. MTV really focused on Kris with that article. It's not just Jim who likes him. ;). plus Kris is pretty hilarious.

Exactly.

MTV really focused on Kris with that article. It's not just Jim who likes him.. plus Kris is pretty hilarious.

What article? I missed the article. The show did sort of lose focus after Kris's segment. Jim is no Slezak (and the other two guys he had there were unnecessary). Allison and Matt - I like them both but they were losing me, or I was really tired.

Anyhow - At the time, I thought the Cantiello show online was rather small or unimportant - didn't think anyone would pay attention to Kris's participation in something like that. Wrong!

Recap of first week audition episodes:

http://www.film.com/features/story/american-idol-recap-show-everyone/43782620

Two others from Jersey had promise, but are probably not what the show is looking for. Caleb Hawley sounded fine doing Ray Charles's "Hallelujah I Love Her So," a little bit like Kris Allen -- which would be a good thing if Idol weren't terrified of another Kris emerging this season.

I just skimmed the article but this guy seems like a good writer - never saw his stuff before.

Cute couple...

Independent art.. nice. CI was always more eager to embrace the individuality in an idol contestant. Ha I forgot Faber Drive, Eva and Katherine McPhee performed at the auditions.

Oh, yeah. Earl Stevenson, anyone? You know, I'm pretty happy with the CI Top 5 for the last season. They were all good, and if any one of the five won that would have been okay with me. I doubt all five of those guys would have made it into the Top 20 of AI. Maybe none of them would have.

As to your second point - yeah, Faber Drive played at the auditions - I forgot that, too. How are they doing lately, in Canada?

Web article.
'American Idol' Champ Kris Allen Rates Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez - Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV

Sleazak's Idoloonies is up now (! :) !!) , and Michael had Matt on (looks like the same night), he had a lot more time on Michael's show, and was a lot more to the point since it was edited. It was nice to hear from Matt because I agree he got kind of lost in the shuffle between Kris and Allison. Jim's show was more of a stream of conscience live kind of thing. I liked both shows, but seeing Kris live was special :) LOL

BUT - I'm super glad Michael and Jason are doing the Idoloonie show though. 'Cause it's awesome.

Earl.. loved him so much..bought his album.. but they'd have kicked his ass off in Hollywood week. If he made it that far.

I don't know what Faber Drive are doing at the moment, I haven't heard anything .. nothing on the radio etc.

Hip Hop WWFM.. I agree. 8O Dislike. But they clearly have good taste in music...

I just got what's-his-name's book out of the library - Richard Rushfield. About Idol. I've been skimming it. Have you read this?

I have a strange urge to eat some eggs right about now.

YouTube - David Cook Dishes Out New Album Details - Interview

(Hee! They both seem kind of flirty in that interview.)

Yay, Idoloonies! It was pretty cool. The three people they chose were interesting. It was cool to hear from Matt, even though his music is really not my cup of tea.

Rushfield's book must not even be available here. You'll have to summarize it for us, ross. Aside from his interviews with Mansfield, I didn't really read anything about it. The only thing I saw was that some Cook fans were (rightly) angry that Rushfield wrote that Cook had "struggled" to reach platinum with his album, when it happened in only four months. Rushfield apologized and said that he would change it in the next edition of his book (if they do make a second edition).

Eggs?

Yes! I thought so too. Nice choice on the interviewees, and my exact thought on Matt. Like him but the music isn't my thing.

David's looking really good, isn't he? :)

Check out Kris' and David's recent tweets, lol.

I did summarize some of Rushfield's comments here but I lost the post. One of the interesting things was how on the first season of the British version, Pop Idol, Simon liked the runner up (who had had a theatre background) more than the winner, and kept insisting the winner was a nice guy but the runner up should have won.

The first mention of Kris is this: "While Lambert continued to dominate the coverage, as the contest came down to the wire, the final weeks were ruled by the Arkansas prayer leader, Kris Allen, a highly likable and endearing soft rocker whose John Mayer-inspired performance demonstrated the diversity of musical styles emerging from America's megachurches. In eight years of Idol there had never been a darker horse than Allen, who even three weeks before the season's end seemed unlikely to make the finals, let alone take the crown." Later, he writes, "Ultmately, the crown went to Allen, continuing the cute rocker boys' dynasty." This is at the end of the chapter on season 8. There's no profile of Kris (like there are of many other contestants). Nothing about his being newly married - or married - is mentioned. His performances are ignored, as is his friendship with Adam - his playing of instruments is never mentioned.

Most of the chapter is about Adam, especially Mad World - as well as Gokey and some church woman who ministers to the Idols - and a lot is about Kara and Paula. Season 7, he writes a lot about Archie and Cook - earlier, he has a biographical sketch of Taylor Hicks, etc.

Anyway, the season 8 he wrote about was not really the one I watched, since I recall Kris being in it.

Okay, I saw Torres this time! Also, David says "on Chris' bass" right at the beginning of the video and then we hear some bass. Pretty cool! Now, Monty (David's bass player) is going to go play with Kris, lol.

I thought this, on that page, even more exciting: Lady Gaga's Perfume to Smell Like Blood & Semen

Okay, not really. (eee...) Is there a different world I can go to until she goes away?

That doesn't look like Torres to me. But people on twitter are saying it's him so who am I to question it?

Okay, I'm sure that is not Torres on the couch. Unless he got a new face.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Randy is soooooo annoying and dull. Sheez. What a putz.

I'm having a hard time getting into this season. It's really because of the producer's comments before the season. I've watched almost every second of their cockamaimie show for two seasons and they basically told me my vote is not important to them, right? I doubt I'll vote this year - I'm only here because of you guys. AI and I have basically split up. I've already moved on, in my mind...

Ugh - they're admitting they lowered the age limit due to Bieber? This show is so rank. I hate them!!!

I guess you guys should get used to this kind of thing, from me! I don't know what/who will change it. Hopefully some real person who cuts through the bullsh*t.

OMG, Randy, yes!!! She's FIFTEEN!!!

F I F T E E N

And no, I don't KNOW how she can do that, at AGE FIFTEEN. I guess the same way that last year's OMG! SIXTEEN!!! year olds could do that.

LOL Ross.

You'll like this then. :)

American Idol Fails to Support Kris Allen

I pretty much agree with everything they say except I'll probably still watch the show, cause I have love for this manipulative little show with their overplayed addiction to sob stories, and 15! year olds. (not that I want sob stories.. 'cause I DON'T)

Plus Steven Tyler is cracking me up.. but 2 hours is still WAY too long.

Eh, the 15 year olds.. some were okay.. the truth is whether or not they'll be standing on the stage at the end of the season, I vote probably not on pretty much all of them. There were a few tonight I liked, some got through too easy, and some were pushed through with both hands.

PLUS! Matt was with Danny at the auditions and they didn't show him!!! ARGH!

Yeah, I'm not breaking up with Idol just yet either, LOL. If there's really nobody interesting in the top 20 or top-whatever it's supposed to be, maybe I'll consider not watching. We'll see, but I'll probably continue watching anyway!

OMG! 15!!! Ugh. Teenagers, please go away! I thought the one who sang Chasing Pavements was terrible. As was the girl who just got her permit.

I guess I liked some of the older ones, like Jerome Bell (more for the tone of his voice than for the crazy runs), Molly the White House intern, Steve the accountant and Scott, the guy with the lipstick. Also, I hate sob stories, and I'm not sure if Chris Medina's voice was really all that good, but I admit his story touched me.

Oh, and I still want JLo's makeup.
