I didn't really like Faber Drive's Christmas effort. Disco-fied hymns are not my favorite things (unlike whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens).

I have a Christmas tune addiction. :) I could listen to that stuff all day in December.

Mike Posner should have second hit on the radio after Cooler That Me. And he sings it (and everything) in that same annoying baby voice. You guys remember that review I linked to, when he played in Boston last summer? About how bad he was, live? If the review was to be believed. I was just looking at the VH1 countdown and his new song, Please Don't Go, is at #6. Why do these people make it?

Well, as you know I don't understand the Mike Posner thing either, so you're preaching to the choir. I downloaded his mix tape remember? - it was horrible. The only song I liked of his was Cooler Than me. As to how he's on the countdown.. People voted for him and VH1 let them. Simple as that.

Today I found myself wondering why Jive (or whoever it was) took from June to September to make a video for The Truth, and why all that effort was finally made for a song that had begun to stall by that point. I was also wondering why they took so long to release a second single in the first place. No, they were not trying to decide what the single should be. That doesn't take weeks and weeks. When decisions need to be made, they're made, even if it means flipping a coin. So - any speculations, about these things?

Lots. Seems to me it was really bad planning. Maybe they were trying to get Pat in the video and it took time? plus Kris's calendar was really full. Although if that's the reason I'd have dumped Pat from the single sooner. I still hate the Pat decision. And I love that song.

I always liked Alex - you know until I watched that show and he began to irritate me in real life - but his voice I like.

Disappointed that they have changed Crystal's single. I prefer "Hold On" to "Farmer's Daughter". "Farmer's Daughter is too mellow and I don't think it will get decent radioplay.

For me I think Farmer's Daughter is the better song, but I think you're right. Hold On would do better on the radio for sure.

I have a Christmas tune addiction. I could listen to that stuff all day in December.

I like Christmas music, but I guess dance beat/autotune applied to religious Christmas songs? = tacky, to me. I know the Faber guys are religious so they probably didn't mean it disrespectfully. Not that it's sacreligeous, just kind of ruins the music. But, anyway, I also like a lot of Christmas songs. (Not country Christmas, though - usually.)

As to how he's on the countdown.. People voted for him and VH1 let them. Simple as that.

I guess I meant: How do these things originally get on the countdown? Do you need to hae a radio hit, first?

Anyhow, he's doing it in the correct way - he had a hit, then his record company got out another single and a video in a timely manner. It doesn't seem that difficult. My point (which I admit got lost, in my last post) was that if his record label can push this guy, successfully, just by following a few simple rules of thumb, what is Jive's problem if they can't push a much better guy as successfully as this nonentity has been pushed?

Seems to me it was really bad planning.

Lol. Or maybe being over-cautious, or over-thinking it all (like the Pat Monahan addition). If they had just planned to put AWM out there for adds, when LLWD was peaking, I think we can safely say it would have been a respectable hit. Maybe not massive, but who knows? Or Can't Stay Away, or Written All Over My Face. I think they were greedy and looking for another massive hit. They over-thought it, in my opinion. The inclusion of Pat and the whole video fiasco kind of proves that, in my mind. And the fact that they didn't want to let The Truth go, and quickly release something else.

I just don't want the label to think LLWD was the result of Kris's fleeting Idol fame, like some coronation song. But I'm wondering if that's what they do think. To me, Kris was probably the least likely Idol to ride Idol fame to a hit song. I always felt LLWD was just a popular song, and that's why I think it wasn't a fluke and he can do it again if they back him. But what they think is a mystery.

"For Your Entertainment" was used for a group number on the final show of the Battle of the Blades. A bunch of hockey tough guys skating to Adam's song

I think they used it earlier too - didn't they? Yep.

YouTube - Adam Lambert's 'For Your Entertainment' on 'Battle of the Blades'

Battle of the Blades is so much more interesting than Skating with the Stars. IMHO.

Or over-thinking it all (like the Pat Monahan thing, for ex.)? If they had just planned to put AWM out there for adds, when LLWD was peaking, I think we can safely say it would have been a respectable hit. Or Can't Stay Away, or Written All Over My Face. Yeah, over thinking it and pushing the Pat connection when it didn't make sense. I know Train were #1 at the time, but there just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do something. Also the music video should have been out when Kris went on Idol, the single was barely out then, and it should have been out well before that IMHO.

Sometimes, fandoms can do some great things. A charity organism called Why Hunger had an autographed David Cook guitar and an autographed Daughtry poster that they put up for auction. The starting bid was 750$ and the deadline was today. Yesterday, less than 24 hours before the deadline, some Cook fans decided to do some type of raffle. People would buy tickets for 1$ each and they could buy whatever number of tickets they wanted. The person who was put in charge offered to prepare raffle tickets, collect the money and if they won the guitar, they would draw to see who would win the guitar among all who had purchased tickets. And today, they had some competition at the end of the auction, but they won! They managed to pay 2,000$ for the guitar and the poster! And they even had some money left that they'll give to charity as well. Anyway, that means that the person responsible will have lots of raffle tickets to prepare, but it was a really cool idea and they managed to give a lot of money to that charity!

Wow, that's fantastic that they managed to raise $2,000 - when you can get people focused on one goal it's kind of amazing what you can accomplish.

I think way back we talked about Kris, Katy and their adorable pets, future children etc. That dog makes a real good start on that plan. LOL Seriously cute puppy.. and it's name is Zorro. That puppy.. OMG, and the first picture with him and his little tree??? EEEEE!

Zorro is a cute name! It's cool they got a puppy, I'm jealous, I want one! I'm the first one to be all "awwww" when I see puppies, but I have to admit that I actually find the kind of dog they got really ugly, LOL!

So they called it Zorro because it has a little mask, right? That was my guess, anyhow.

As a puppy he looks a lot like my little chihuahua that I used to have. When he was a little pup he was so tiny.

Zorro is kind of homely, but also cute. I did go "aw" when I saw that sleeping picture.

ETA: It's inspiring that a song called F*ck You has been nominated for a Best Song Grammy. I think our society has really hit a new high with that one.

7 nominations for Bruno Mars. I don't get him. That song "Amazing" makes me want to take a brick and smash my radio. I mean, "Just The Way You Are." Which makes me think of a Billy Joel song (because it is a Billy Joel song. A good song, btw).

Oh, God, Adam got a Grammy nomination.

Sara Bareilles also got a nomination (people seem to be re-tweeting this on my twiiter).

The Grammy's are wack. They have less and less credibility in my eyes as the years go by. If Arcade Fire don't win for Album of the Year, the Grammy's will definitely have no credibility left in my eyes.

They have not had any credibility for years.

I'm thinking about Kris's answer when anyone asks him what he wants professionally (to win a Grammy). I'm sorry - I don't feel so happy.

I'm glad for Adam, he works hard, and he's gotten a lot of great breaks. I have to try not to take stuff like this as something against Kris, but I feel bad for him. The thing is he needs a few breaks. Deserves. It's hard. He doesn't deserve to be in this guys's shadow. I think that's what bugs me the most.

LOL - I LOVE that song!! LOVE IT! :) The lyrics are really clever actually.

Also - LOVE Bruno Mars. Even bought the whole album - and I like the whole thing.

Really happy for Adam, not so happy about the "Did Kris get a grammy nomination?" questions that are sure to follow, argh!

I know they're kind of a big deal, but the Grammy's are always wack. As are all award shows really. I didn't watch the nominations... but I caught enough through twitter.

I don't actually mind that Kris wasn't nominated. I think of course he'd love to be nominated for any of his work, And I'd love it to happen, but the timing isn't right. And the music business is all about timing. It's not going to happen until radio plays the music without a fight.

LOL - the Puppy's getting press!! It’s A Boy! MIX 105.1- The Best MIX of the 80s, 90s and Today

Oh please don't buy into that. LLWD was played without a fight and I still hear it all the time (I heard it yesterday). The Truth was played without a fight, too, I'd say. This current song was not sent for adds. It can't make it without that. Not in any mass kind of way. But I don't see radio as being resisitant.

I guess I just don't see Adam as being someone who deserves everything he gets. He has a big mouth and has almost sabotaged himself at times. Plus he took the great opportunity he got last year (AMAs) and acted like a child. He does stupid things like attacking photographers and smoking pot onstage, and whatever. Somehow he always comes up smelling like a rose, though, and that doesn't make me feel good when good things happen to him. Plus that Idol pimpage of him last year will never make me think he could have done it on his own. Granted, none of them do it on their own, but he's just this manufactured entity, to me.

He's the one who has to live with that - but I doubt he cares, he's not the type. To him, the fake is more real than the real. I don't think he has any real artistic or personal integrity, and he's the one who's always talking about needing to be true to yourself. I find it laughable.

Hey, life is unfair, but it's a shame that someone who really could take all those advantages and build on them in an artistic way to create new music has to struggle while this clown gets everything.

Sorry, just my opinion (and it's probably never going to change).

You claimed that you don't hate Adam yet you always seem to make bitchy comments about him and now you even call him “clown”. I've noticed that a lot of Kris fans can't talk about Kris without having to disparage Adam. It's not Adam's fault that Kris can't even sell out a 1,000 seat venue in the US. The problem I see is that he is never able to go out and connect with audiences in way where he could build a strong fan base. An IDOL needs to have star quality, charisma. At some point, he has to take some responsibility for his failures. You can't just keep acting like it's always someone else's fault.

As for Adam's personality, other Idol contestants and a lot of industry people have nothing but great things to say about him. Michael Lynch said in the OK magazine interview that Adam and David Cook had the best reputations among the Idol crew and handlers. I'm more inclined to believe people who work with Adam and know him well and their judgment, rather than someone who's merely speculating what he is like, without knowing him.

I was thinking more about AWM when I wrote that radio was hesitant to play. It wasn't sent for ads which I agree is a problem with radio knowing it's available, but radio could have played it at anytime, they don't need the ads date. I was thinking more about that. Until radio is ready and waiting for the next song to come out that they can play, I don't see a Grammy happening. Kris isn't there yet in his career. Which is absolutely fine.

I'm glad you're really happy for Adam. Because I know you like him.

;) I do.

He does stupid things like attacking photographers and smoking pot onstage, and whatever. Somehow he always comes up smelling like a rose, though, and that doesn't make me feel good when good things happen to him.

That kind of thing I don't really care about. He didn't beat the photographer up, he grabbed for the camera - In a grandma hat. Pot smoking -- whatever. If I thought he truly had a drug problem that's a whole different story, but I probably still wouldn't care - that's his business. I don't see Adam as being the wild child of Rock n' roll. He's just not. I've spent a lot of time following INXS since Rockstar. And JD is a lot wilder, and I wouldn't even classify him as all that wild in the scheme of things... now the guys in INXS back in the day .. that's another story. LOL

I've noticed that a lot of Kris fans can't talk about Kris without having to disparage Adam.

And vice versa. :) There are BOOKS written disparaging Kris. BOOKS. (Well, okay random crazy book - but still BOOK)

At the same time. The focus was really on Adam to the exclusion of all else coming off season 8. It's not Adam's fault but it is the fault of 19. They hold a competition, ask the public to watch, vote and invest and then at the end of the competition discard the results. It happened the year Taylor won, and it happened season 8. Now I would have wanted Chris to win that season, but when you disregard the person that wins, it creates the feeling in the audience that if they don't like him why should I? Plus, although Adam is a new artist as well, he's also a new artist with a LOT of connections to people in LA.

But Kris is doing fine. He's building his fan base - that's what musician's do.

So anyway.. Puppy takes a bath. :)
