Me three!

I just came in from Maine (Thanksgiving at my cousin's house), and I just missed Kris on Extra. Well, I saw him singing AWM under the closing credits. But maybe he also talked to Mario earlier. I don't know. MJ will have it, I guess.

Yep it's there! It was so good to see them on tv singing it - ha - so much clearer than youtube. LOL - very small interview. They mentioned the video would be on their site too.

Happy Thanksgiving !! :)

This involves a whole mess of voting. Ack!

Extra. That wasn't much of a Kris fest. Fan questions for Kris? Why, yes. Here's one I'm dying to know the answer to. "Do you still keep in touch with Adam Lambert?" I don't think he's ever been asked that before. And it tells us so much about Kris.

Here are some more I'd like to have the answer to. And only Kris can answer them. "What's your favorite song by Adam Lambert?" "What do you think of Adam Lambert's CD?" "What is Adam Lambert really like?" "Do you think you could give Adam Lambert this love letter I wrote him?" "Do you know Adam Lambert's phone number? "Do you feel, as I do, that Adam Lambert is the sexiest, most exciting singer ever?"

L - O - L

Meanwhile, on planet earth, many of Kris's actual fans are crazy about that new song. It does have some of the vibe of Is It Over, which reminds me - a while ago I said here that I hoped Kris would write with people other than Cale (as well as with Cale) on the second CD. I forget why, but I used IIO as an example of why he needed to write with other people.

It wasn't a criticism of IIO. I think I meant I was afraid that Kris/Cale didn't have a broad, pop style, or maybe have enough variety. So their first new song is reminiscent of the only other song we know that they co-wrote.

Happy Thanksgiving !!

Thank you!

LOL - totally agree. But this is extra we're talking about. Not exactly cutting edge interviewing skills there. Still - AWM on TV!! I'll take it.

Ha! True enough. It's good though and that's a very big start. LOL - I really like it. (SQUEE!)

I know, but that was a fan question! (If she had been an actual fan, I doubt that would have been the question.)

Still - AWM on TV!! I'll take it.

I'll take it, too. Also, I wish they had been able to work out that visit to Ellen's show. That would have meant a full performance of the song. Maybe they'll manage to get another performance on a talk show or two. That would be great. I think most of them are booked far in advance, and there probably has to be a cancellation, or something.

So, what do you think of Kris-Cale-Chris (Torres) for this series of Christmas shows? It should be interesting, musically. I'm really glad I got to see full KAB do an acoustic set. Apparently, a rare privelege.

I really like...whatever the new song is called. I thought it was moving. Or maybe that was Kris. (I'll say it - he sounded a little less stong vocally than I'm used to. But it's the end of the tour. When I saw him he was in perfect voice.)

Almost like being there.

That's always a fan question. People always want to know if the Idols are still in touch.. are they friends, do they talk on the phone every night before they go to sleep? I think more than one question happened, and the tv show picked their fave. Which is always the same question. LOL. Second verse, same as the first.

I'm really curious about Torres on percussion. And that combo changes it up from what we've seen before at the acoustic type shows. IS it only the 3 of them for all shows?

I was just looking at the DJ from Star 101.3 and she tweeted that she was looking forward to Kris, the Goo Goo Dolls and Hedley for their Christmas show Dec 10th. That's a different one than we were talking about before ...I think.

Almost like being there.

:) That's a really good one.

Where is Star 101.3? Never mind, I looked it up - it's Saratoga Springs, NY. That is actually the closest Hedley has been to me, yet, in these Christmas shows. I would really love to see them - and Kris! (I really can't wrap my head around it altogether.) Saratoga is near Albany. It's about 200 miles from here.

Torres doing percussion - that's what girlygirl (?) said, didn't she? I don't know what this means. I bet he'll play guitar on some songs, don't you think? And then drums? Traditional drums? I can't picture it.

Anyway, the other Hedley - Kris show we were talking about is in Santa Rosa, CA. So -definitely not the same show.

True, true, and true.

To answer your other question, I don't think it's written in stone that all shows will be Kris-Cale-Torres. I think some could be full band if it's a big show. These Christmas concerts are so important I wish they were all full band. Weren't they all, last Christmas?

It's not Saratoga it's San Franciso. That would be an interesting tour though wouldn't it? I like them both, but I'm not sure how it would go.

No I think Kris and Cale did some alone too. But, you're right the bigger ones were definitely full band. I hope the Miami one is full band.

This is the Jingle Ball from Star

(Hedley isn't mentioned but the DJ tweeted that they'd be there, and Hedley's website confirms it - Hedley's site also has a code for $25.00 tickets)

Kris fan's are so slow at uploading, lol. This is great though.

So I went to Best Buy, and I was looking at the CDs. Just in one section (A through C), I saw one of Kris's CDs, and a few Amber Pacific CDs (that have a big photo of the band - Jesse Cottam in the center - on the back), and Jason Castro's CD. And I saw the AI Season 9 compilation. It made me think about the power of that Idol thing. Not that CI was the direct reason Jesse got his AP frontman gig, but it may have given him some of the training and confidence to get the gig.

I was also in Newbury Comics, today, and they're selling Kris's CD for 15.99. That's ridiculous. I've rarely seen Kris's CD selling for less than 12.99. (For whatever reason, Adam's CD has always been sold for less. Usually, about 10 dollars.) Newbury Comics also had two used copies of KATA selling for 9.99. Most people would probably buy the 9.99 copy. And of course that wouldn't count toward album sales. Makes you realize how many things stand in the way of record sales these days. High cost, guaranteed-quality used copies, being able to hear the album for free on YouTube, etc.

By the way, have you ever noticed that Kris's name is printed wrong, on the spine of his CD? It's upside-down. I noticed this when I first bought it, I always mean to mention it to see if anyone else noticed it.

Gotcha - thanks! ;)

I watched the Hedley DVD today, and it was interesting because the first 10 minutes of it was basically - We're serious about our music, we work hard, and we were crazy but we're really serious about our music career and so something had to change. The other 50 minutes was basically a love letter to their fans. Jacob talked about how Idol really shaped how they dealt with their fans and really created a the great relationship they have with them, it's interesting but it's the first time I've seen him talk seriously about it. He said when he was on Idol, the fans were really dedicated and had posters and wanted to meet and talk to them and that continued into Hedley and really created the dynamic that they have now. A lot of the DVD was concert footage and meet and greet footage - it was interesting.

I think Idol does a lot for the contestants whether they win or not. They always learn something.

And I noticed and I have no idea why Kris's album sells for so much - it never made sense to me either - but I never noticed the spine thing, probably because I bought the itunes pass (lol) and the mess that entailed. I do have a copy of the album, but I never play it since I already have the songs on the computer and the ipod.

currently watching some local late night talk show that Brian Melo is supposed to be on. I've never heard of this show.. it's so random. LOL

Brian Mellos (as the host called him) was on - the host asked him what it was like to meet Al Pacino (who was also there) then Brian sang the national anthem (random) BUT Brian took off the hat for that. Hee! I feel like I win.

What was under the hat? Hair? Voldemort's face?

I don't have a physical copy of Kris' album, so I never noticed the spine thing either!

I thought you guys each owned at least thirty-three hard copies of KATA. Wait - you used to , but you "gifted" them, right? Phew. Thought so.

I own 2 - the regular, and the one with Send Me All Your Angels (Wal-Mart special). Interestingly, wherever I have looked for KA the album, recently, there is only one copy. Best Buy, Newbury Comics (not counting the two used copies), Wal-Mart. I'm kind of surprised used CDs and DVDs are allowed to be sold in real stores (when I was younger they could only be found in Salvation Army or Goodwill stores, or yard sales, etc.)

What was under the hat? Hair? Voldemort's face?

Haha! I want to know, too. For all we know, under the hat he may be as hairy as Tyler Mullendore.

The Hedley DVD sounds like the opposite of Do This At Home. I kind of liked them crazy. To me, that was their version of serious. But I saw it starting to change around the time they were on CI6 and did Old School. Something about Jacob's attitude was more professional. I liked that, too, actually.

I don't know what it is about Jacob, really - he has done some really stupid things. I'm sure some people can't stand him. But for the most part anything he has done has worked. I'm not sure I understand it!

He sang the NA on a late night talk show? Why? Was he accompanied by anybody? wtf?

PS - Do you remember the other day when I said there were inexplicably all these Spanish posts on twitter about Kris and I didn't know why? I just figured it out. I was looking for stuff about the E! interview and I searched "Kris Allen E"

Well "e" is a word, in Spanish. So Spanish posts are what came up.

I just searched Canadian Idol on Google and up came this awful article giving negative publicity to Brian Melo.

http://www.edmontonjournal.com/entertainment/Canadian+Idol+proves+match+cookies/3887460/story.html

The poor bastard is just out there trying to work. I would rather they sent someone who likes music to cover this stuff instead of someone who just wants to cover the crowd. Nobody who plays early at these things ever attracts a crowd. Why should they? They're not presented as important. They're just doing their thing, but do they get credit for persuing the arts in a hard climate for the arts? Nope.

Kalan will be performing here:

LOL - Just a head - sans hair. It was anticlimatic, and yet I feel like it was a big moment to see his actual head. That whole issue was distracting me. :) I can now let it go and move on. His head exists.

I thought you guys each owned at least thirty-three hard copies of KATA. Wait - you used to , but you "gifted" them, right? Phew. Thought so.

I thought I'd stop at two copies, but I also own 2 copies of LLWD, and TT and AWM and the various videos :) Clearly not going to cause him to rise up the Billboard charts.

Something about Jacob's attitude was more professional. I liked that, too, actually.

Yes, I liked it too, he was looking very clear eyed in the DVD - serious, and actually really grateful.

I
don't know what it is about Jacob, really - he has done some really stupid things. I'm sure some people can't stand him. But for the most part anything he has done has worked. I'm not sure I understand it!

There is a clip at the end when Jacob is talking to the sound guy making the video, and you can tell he's still a brat, LOL - but it's tempered with some grown-up sense.

He sang the NA on a late night talk show? Why? Was he accompanied by anybody? wtf?

YouTube - The Being Frank Show Nov. 26, 2010 with AL PACINO promo - Frank D'Angelo

No mention of Brian in that but there was a full page ad for the show in the Toronto Star (full page! Very expensive! and that mentioned Brian) Brian Mello, Al Pacino parts were filmed at some banquet hall (and looked it) and I think they were the guests of the banquet not the talk show. The talk show is so random, and seems like it's privately funded by the host. IDEK.

I'm not surprised by the turn out for Brian, he disappeared from view for a long time, and CI is so much harder to come from since there isn't the tour to build fanbases with and It's almost like you need to hook them up with another band or something right away to tour with. Like Disband did with These Kids Wear Crowns and San Sebastian when they sent them on tour with Hedley.

Kalan on the other hand is hanging out with very interesting people. Bret (the guy in the article) has quite a bit of money and is really philanthropic - he's also on the Tv show the Dragon's Den - where entrepeneurs pitch ideas for money. Kalan has also been hanging out in LA with people who know people. I'm nosy, but it's interesting. I wonder what is going to happen.

Thank God we've established he has a top to his head. Now if he's wearing a hat, at least you'll know his brain is not dribbling out and making a mess.

Well, Brian did open for Faber Drive and he appeared (and sang) in one of their videos. I have no idea who Disband or San Sebastian are but if you say hooking them up with TKWK and Hedley helped them build fanbases then I guess you're right. As for Brian.. I just objected to the article. The writer must have been sent to cover the festival and the acts, right? Not to cover Brian Melo. But that's about all she seemed interested in. I hate people like that, that's all. (By the way, did you notice she said a crowd of about 300 turned out for Stereos? That's not exactly a stampede, either.)

Kalan...well, the event he performed at was in Calgary, and he's from near there, originally, so I just thought that's why he performed. But you may be right to see more in it. As for LA, he recorded his second album there and lived there for half a year, back then, and he loves LA. So maybe LA is lucky for him. He does seem to have cool connections, there.

Now you're just being silly.

LOL.

(By the way, did you notice she said a crowd of about 300 turned out for Stereos? That's not exactly a stampede, either.)

Meh, Stereos. I wouldn't bother either, LOL Seriously though, Disband is a TV show that Much does that's sort of CI for bands. I don't think it's an accident that several of the bands on that show have done tour support for Hedley. I think they're following Hedley's model for winning fans. I forgot about Brian's Faber Drive connection. But I guess if she was only interested in Brian - that's a good thing really. Even if she was negatively interested, don't they say that all press is good press?

Speaking of Faber Drive I just downloaded a Christmas album that has Faber Drive and Carly Rae Jepson on it. I really like Faber Drive's Christmas tune. It's called Sing in Celebration. Carly Rae's is called Mittens - and it's good too.

I didn't really like Faber Drive's Christmas effort. Disco-fied hymns are not my favorite things (unlike whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens).

You think that article was a good thing for Brian? Well, it may have gotten him some sympathy, I guess.

Now I want to change the subject and talk about stuff I don't understand - such as why Mike Posner should have second hit on the radio after Cooler That Me. And he sings it (and everything) in that same annoying baby voice. You guys remember that review I linked to, when he played in Boston last summer? About how bad he was, live? If the review was to be believed. I was just looking at the VH1 countdown and his new song, Please Don't Go, is at #6. Why do these people make it? This guy is like a Brian Austin Green clone, only worse.

Today I found myself wondering why Jive (or whoever it was) took from June to September to make a video for The Truth, and why all that effort was finally made for a song that had begun to stall by that point. I was also wondering why they took so long to release a second single in the first place. No, they were not trying to decide what the single should be. That doesn't take weeks and weeks. When decisions need to be made, they're made, even if it means flipping a coin. So - any speculations, about these things?

Because to me the failure of The Truth to reach big hit status seems to be the reason why, as you say, Jive doesn't want to spend a lot of money on this current one. It seems a shame to let one song (TT) mean so much. Even that doesn't seem to be a good reason. So the guy had one massive hit and one disappointment. Many artists do just that. And the labels just ignore the disappointment and try again.

Anyhow, it seems they're the ones who screwed up The Truth, in so many ways, from release date to video to adding Pat Monahan - even the fact that they released it as the second single at all. So why does Kris need to assume all the blame for it? If he is. And it seems he is.

(And anyway - this is all I'm gonna say, I promise - I'm done: the song was hardly a colossal flop. It wasn't Ishtar. It did a lot better than what they've been releasing for Archie. I think Kris even gets a plaque from Billboard for a Top 20 HAC song.)

Okay.. quick...who's better?

YouTube - Alex Lambert American Idol Top 12 Boys Compete

YouTube - Lee Dewyze American Idol Top 12 Boys Compete

To me, the one who doesn't sound like a sick cow giving birth is better. But Simon...ohh, that Simon...

Here's a list of what Kris has been doing since November 2009.

krisallenmedia: Summary of Kris Allen's Calendar 2009-2010

PS. I think if you look at most of the Christmas shows from last year, they were in fact with the full band, except maybe a couple (like the Florida one - I don't think that was. Even the acoustic stuff here in MA and in CT was full band).
