I just read on MJ's that Clay Aiken is going to be co-hosting The View tomorrow. I'm sensing a pattern, here.

I heard The Truth on a different station, today - Mix104.1 [rather than Kiss108]. I heard the last note, just barely. Then the DJ said it was Kris Allen and The Truth. No mention of Pat Monahan. Still don't get the publicity value of that. Especially when Pat isn't even mentioned. Just seems like people will think Kris is singing the whole song and that there's some kind of weird autotune thing on the bridge that makes his voice sound thinner and rougher.

Video is being shot in two days!

Wow, Red Rocks is packed. Do you think it might be SOLD OUT? Just curious.

People on MJ's getting their panties in a bunch because a few people tweeted negative stuff about Kris. In an audience of thousands. Apparently half the audience gave Kris a standing ovation. For an opening act? I'll take it. What do people want? That's pretty awesome.

Kris didn't do Heartless/GP! Wuut??

Exactly. These people have no idea who Kris is. He won them over. (at least half of them) It's good.

OMG! Next there will be no MITM. What in the world??? What will we do?

It's good. A lot of people still watch Idol, so it's not like no one there knows who Kris is, and I'm sure he even has fans there. But I know what you mean. He's not the biggest star, at this point. A lot of people don't know him at all. And yet I think he routinely seems to win over a lot of the audience at these things. It's good, it's good.

OMG! Next there will be no MITM. What in the world??? What will we do?

Haha! But has he ever not done Heartless?

I just take it for granted that he will sing Heartless, at this point. For some reason I never get tired of it.

The crowd tonight , via Steve Luna. And that's only half the audience. Big crowd!

I'm in work so I can only look at pictures of Jacob and Dave. I usually don't care what Jacob looks like, but he looks like crap! It's the first time a lot of people have laid eyes on him too.

I know!! LOL - put some clean clothes on. Seriously.

Doug Benson the comedian apparently brought Kris up in some conversation by saying that Kris may go into acting (IDEK???) and linked to the Best Day Ever from VH1 that he did with Kris.

YouTube - Best Day Ever with Kris Allen and Adam Lambert

Funny thing.. Justin is in this. Which I didn't remember - He's talking about a white shirt sent down from heaven.. LOL (IDEK...)

Until I watched the clip, I thought "Justin" was either Bieber or Timberlake. Justin G. doesn't linger in my memory very long, I guess! The white shirt that came down from heaven. Justin is in his own little world, isn't he?

SleepinIn, where was he having the conversation and doing the linking? Do you know?

I'm glad they're using this pic for some of Kris's publicity. It's cool.

Barenaked Ladies at Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre (Salt Lake City, UT) on 13 Jul 2010 ? Last.fm

The publicity from Red Butte is a little outdated, though.

foxcitieshub tweeted this
  1. Comic #Doug Benson told me he wouldn't be surprised if #American Idol champ #Kris Allen moves into acting. See why: YouTube - Best Day Ever with Kris Allen and Adam Lambert about 12 hours ago

  2. Writing a story on American Idol in Milwaukee and I need 3 people from the Appleton area who are going to try out - Know anybody??? Hit me!

Yes to the MTV pictures as publicity pics. :) And.. yay.. publicity for No Boundaries. Awesome. I'd like to bury that song deep in the ground. #1 on itunes or not.

also.. Justin who?

(kidding) I totally did not remember him from that clip though. D'oh.

Has any previous winner been on The View?

missaddicted, I just did a little research into this.

Kelly Clarkson was on twice (2004, 2009), Ruben Studdard was on twice (2004, 2006), Carrie Underwood was on three times (in 2005), Fantasia Barrino was on four times (from 2004 to 2006), Taylor Hicks was on twice (2006, 2007), Jordin Sparks was on once (2007), David Cook was on once (2008 ) and Lee DeWyze was on once (2010).

All the runners up from Seasons 1 through 8 have also appeared on the show. Justin Guarini (2003), Clay Aiken (five episodes, 2004, 2006, 2008 [twice], 2010), Diana Degarmo (2004), Bo Bice (2005), Katheine McPhee (2008 ), Blake Lewis (2008 ), David Archuleta (2008, on the same episode as David Cook), and Adam Lambert (2009).

Kris is the only winner never to appear on the show, in nine seasons. The only runner up not to appear (so far) is Crystal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, Barenaked Ladies fans, who tweet, suck! Bunch of snarky tweets about Kris tonight. Nothing positive.

I don't set a lot of store by concert tweets. What kind of people take out their phones and tweet at concerts, anyhow? There are over 3000 people at the concert and a few tweets don't destroy me or make me ecstatic. It is what it is.

But I've been of the opinion all along that Kris opening for BNL is not a great fit. I could never picture rabid BNL fans getting misty-eyed as Kris sang Man In The Mirror, or thrilling to his sincere, pure vocals or his subtle humor. I just don't think they're into it. They're there to throw rubber chickens (or whatever it is). I'm not being facetious, either. It's basically different from what they're there to see. I basically think they're only there to see BNL.

I think (hope, anyway) Keith Urban fans and possibly Maroon 5 fans would be more into the music and the quieter, more humble persona.

Like I said before, it was nice of Keith Urban (as well as Lady Antebellum) to give Kris tacit approval by inviting him back onstage for the encore. That's a nice gesture. But the response from their fans for Kris seemed to warrant it, too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not a good night for Kris, I guess.

yendiders @catalm4rm FB:Wayne Bishop: So Kris Allen sure is tanking with the audience here at the Red Butte! ... they're just being rude talking crap

I don't agree and I do agree.. how's that for an answer? I actually do think that they are a good fit. (You know I'm a fan right?) Regardless of the tweets. The thing is that I don't think BNL fans going into the concert would necessarily have a good opinion of Kris who they only know as someone from Idol - because Idol gets a bad rap - and because the people coming off Idol in the first - let's say 5 or 6 seasons - have been so different from Kris. While humour is a large part of their show - they're also all multi-instrumentalists. And their fanbase is hardcore. I've seen tweets from people who said that they were impressed, and being in front of that size of an audience you will make new fans.

BNL have been doing this for almost as long as Kris has been alive. They didn't start out with a big fanbase They started out like this

YouTube - Barenaked Ladies-Speakers' Corner 1990-Be My Yoko Ono

and got a big break when they were banned in Toronto because of their name. Every gig will bring new fans for Kris.

The one thing I would've liked is some kind of acknowledgement.. a sort of -- we like Kris and think he's really talented - don't pick on him. And yes I appreciated that from Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban very much.

I think (hope, anyway) Keith Urban fans and possibly Maroon 5 fans would be more into the music and the quieter, more humble persona.

Guess you don't remember the almost fist fight that broke out at the Keith Urban concert...

At the same time, Kris is the opener. No matter who he's opening for he's going to get tweets that are of the "who is this guy? Why does he think he can open for my favourite band" variety. That's a given.

and it's a VERY good night for Kris.. Paul McCartney! :) Don't think he'll forget Utah anytime soon.

Yes, I know you're a BNL fan, SleepinIn. I remember things like that, most of the time.

I'm about to sign off soon so I'll have to be brief, I guess (for a change. lol). I don't know if it makes any difference that I've actually seen KAB and BNL performing in a concert together. But from that experience, I didn't think they went well together.

The guy who manages Ironstone Amphitheatre (Murphys, California) may just have been blowing smoke when he said the KAB/Fray show was more like gettting two headliners, rather than a headliner and an opening act, but I think he was correct. That's an example of getting a chance to shine, as an opener. Not only was his set long (why, I don't know) but the headliner seemed similar musically.

I found BNL overbearing. I think this is not a good fit for Kris, because of that. The BNL fans may also be a bit overbearing.. KAB is laid back, as are their fans. BNL is not laid back, their fans are not necessarily laid back. That's the difference, for me, I guess.

Well, I can't really explain it, but I guess I'm just not that surprised at the tweets saying it was a tough crowd tonight for Kris. I don't necessarily think lot of these BNL fans want to be open to another act, at their concert.

Not being picky but I didn't get the impression they were saying "don't pick on him."
I think the audiences at these shows really liked Kris to begin with. The headliners also thought highly of him. I didn't get a "we need to run interference for him" vibe from it.

You do have a point there. Okay, I'll give you that one. LOL

and re the review: You win some you lose some. I'm not that worried. He's clearly not an Idol fan at all, and that's influencing his review.

Saccharine abomination's and pseudo-miscreant's don't come along every day you know. It takes a special level of hatred to get to that level of profound dislike. Ha! It's creative, I'll give him that.

I do love the footnote to the McCartney show review though. I'm glad that Kris had a ball. That's so cool.

ETA:
Which would you rather be a saccharine abomination or a pseudo-miscreant? LMAO. I really can't take the guy that seriously.

Plus the response was actually not at all bad. No one threw any fruit or anything. :)

Hee! Daniel's got himself another viral video. Apparently going to be on Jay Leno tonight (the video not Daniel)

Another viral video? I didn't know he ever had any. Is this something he choreographed, or what?

A psuedo-miscreant.

Plus the response was actually not at all bad. No one threw any fruit or anything.

Even if they did throw fruit, SleepinIn, I'm sure you'd find a way to put a positive spin on it. :)

(I don't know what was worse - that review, or Tess trying to make nice with the Kris fans on the concert thread today. Ugh. Kill me now.)

Someone on MJ's linked to this from way back. Blah-de-blah-de-blah.

Squee!

New Studio Vlog - David Cook Album Teaser | DavidCookOfficial.com

It seems the song David is singing is this song by David Hodges:

YouTube - David Hodges - Hard To Believe [ New Video + Download ]

Hm. Meh? Not what I was expecting David to record.

Oh, well.

Okay, more info about the song, it was also co-written by Lindy Robbins and another guy. Maybe Cook gave it a makeover though (hopefully!), Cook and Hodges seem really close. And we don't know if the music we hear in that vlog is the music that goes with the lines that David is singing.

Seems like a good song for David's voice.

Quiz: Who said this about Kris?

"We've done a few shows, and we have a couple more coming up," ____ tells Zap2it. "He's great! I love him. He's just got a good, real singer-songwriter vibe about him, and he's really finding his own way. He has a great voice and a good heart, and I like him immensely."

You guessed it...

'American Idol' Kris Allen still has a big fan in Keith Urban - From Inside the Box - Zap2it
