Well, I'm glad I didn't bludgeon you into a stupor with my posts from hell. You are still alert and responding. Hopefully in a few days you'll be able to take nourishment again.

Please don't compare this to Taylor/Daughtry. Well, I know you aren't. But that was about business. Taylor was probably not very marketable. Like I said, Kris is basically someone who, if you gave him to anyone but 19, they'd be plastering his face all over the world, and pulling strings to put him on every TV show. I don't know how many shows a guy has to do where girls are yelling "I wanna **** you" before his management figures out he's marketable. I remember girls yelling that at Eminem when I saw him about 8 or 9 years ago, and he seems to be doing okay last time I checked.

Anyway, Kristopher Neil Allen is infintiely more marketable to the actual people who buy what's on the radio than Taylor Hicks. And he's also more marketable than Lambert, who's a show-club singer, anyway, not a pop singer. I wasn't just saying why he's amazing, back there, I was trying to figure out why 19 or AI or whomever seem to be ignoring such a marketable commoddity who also happened to win the whole shebang.

For me, they are slackin' -- if they can't market Kris, then I really don't know who they're waiting for to fall into their lap.

I wonder if it has to do with different marketing styles JIVE vs. RCA ? I don't really know too much about either, other than RCA seems to be the big gun marketer and Jive seems to focus on radio. For Kris I think focusing on Radio is smart. He's much more radio ready than Archie was last year. I know Archie had the bigger song with Crush, but I don't know in person Kris just strikes me as more ready performance wise. If that makes sense. Anyway these relationships he's building will pay dividends even if it's years down the road.

Anyway with my Taylor vs Chris comparison I was just saying that TPTB picked who they wanted to win, and acted accordingly regardless of the votes. From watching the show last year, it's pretty apparent they didn't quite "get" Kris. Kris didn't let them write his storyline, he wrote his own. The ultimate rebel. :) For all that Adam is trumpeted as the Idol that's different for me it was Kris that was different.

Although I like both of them for different things, and really would have been happy with either outcome even though I'm more invested in Kris.

Petapalooza had quite a crowd. More than I thought actually.

Yes, there's a solidity to what he's doing on radio. It's paying off and will continue to.
Working hard and playing to a lot of different audiences has payoffs, too. There's something about seeing someone in person that registers strongly, too. It's actually the perfect system for Kris because he's a musician, a laid back person, and appears to be "just like us" as the kid I work with said once. He's not a movie star, or a larger-than-life personality.

I agree completely with that. I've always been surprised the media never picked up on that in any significant way. I was even more surprised they never celebrated the fact that he beat the system, beat Simon. I thought sure this would be the story the media would love. The David and Goliath story. I never thought the story had much to do with Adam. You probably could have plugged Gokey into the Top 2 with Kris and it would have been the same story. They "got" Gokey, they "got" Adam; they never got Kris.

Anyhow, I suspect that we see the essence, not the surface, or look beyond the surface, where a lot of people don't. I've always seen Kris as more the rebel on Idol than Adam, also -- which would probably be misunderstood by many people.

Today I read an article about Adam mentoring where the person suggested that he was a better choice than the "meek and sweet" Kris. I said to myself, "How can anyone secribe Kris that way?" That's how people would describe Archie (and I'm not sure it would be true). But what is meek about Kris? "Sweet," yeah, I guess, but not in the way they meant it! "Nice" would be a better word. "Laid back."

Yep, from Rwanda to Las Vegas. LOL

What? Kris didn't get his picture taken with Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead?? I'm kinda crushed.

I heard LLWD tonight as I was about to go into the grocery store, so of course I had to sit and listen to it. It was played between Coldplay's Yellow and Kid Rock's All Summer Long. On Mix104.1

I couldn't click on the link and watch the video. It wants me to download it.

It’s cool Kris has a gig at the San Diego Hard Rock…I was there a few weeks ago…

Tiger92 replied:

Did you get to see Adam’s AI outfit?

Isn't that typical? One freakin track mind.

That's weird, I only clicked and it opened in Windows Media Player. Do you have Windows Media Player?

I do.

Someone on TWoP wrote: It took forever for that video to download, and then I had to get QuickTime to make it play, but it was worth it. All of the pictures are incredible, and the song sounds great.

I'd have to get QuickTime to play it. Mine says the same thing.

From IdolsNow: KRIS ALLEN's "Live Like We're Dying" moves to Mainstream Top 40 Recurrents chart, where it enters at #1, giving Kris his 3rd Billboard #1.

When your song officially crosses into recurrents... timeforanewsingledammit. Congrats on the number 1 though!

What is the thing tonight from the Hard Rock? Audio, or video?

I don't understand the whole recurrents thing. (What does that word even mean??)
What's his #1 for --#1 recurrent song? How does a song get to be the #1 recurrent song, anyway?

I confess the whole chart-position thing started to get to me a while ago (and I haven't ever been a very statistically oriented person, anyway), so I haven't followed any of this lately. But congrats to Kris for his 3rd Billboard #1.

Recurrents charts basically mean that the song is "old" for this format. They take the song from the regular chart and put it on the recurrents chart. So LLWD won't be on the regular top 40 chart anymore. But since it was still pretty high on the top 40 chart, it means it still has a lot of airplay and has enough to top all the other songs on the reccurents chart.

Recurrent rotation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I guess each format has a time limit that and after that time the song is retired.

I'm on the Radio Sophie page but it's not working. Can someone help??

(Thanks for explaining recurrents. Good explanation.)
