The latest Leger poll, the polling firm Postmedia works with and the most accurate in the last several federal elections, shows the Poilievre-led Conservatives with 41% of the vote to 33% for the Carney-led Liberals. Leger also found that Poilievre beat Carney on who was best suited to deal with Trump, to handle inflation and the cost-of-living crisis and to understand the “concerns of voters like me.”

That’s not the narrative the rest of our national media are trying to spoon-feed us, the same national media that didn’t bother vetting the man who was selected — not elected — to become our next prime minister.

Their cheerleading for Carney will likely continue into the general election campaign, which could kick off as soon as a week from now, according to the tongues wagging in Ottawa.

There is no doubt that polls have tightened and the Liberals are getting a bounce as Trudeau departs and Carney takes over, but the Conservatives are still the favourites to win the next election despite what the press gallery narrative will try to make you believe.

I will offer a caution to the nervous Conservatives and the overly buoyant Liberals: It’s best to remember the three key rules of elections.

Voters are fickle, polling can change, campaigns matter.

Between now and Easter, Canadians will get to make a choice. Please make it a wise and informed one.

A source in the Carney camp said the prime-minister-designate will send a clear message to the White House that Canada is under new management. The source said Mr. Carney’s approach to dealing with the President is to remain calm, cool and steady, pointing to how he managed the global financial crisis in 2008 at the Bank of Canada and steered Britain through Brexit while heading the Bank of England.

The Globe is not identifying the source, who was not authorized to discuss internal talks.

So back to the same old shit of liberal governance through TikTok, and unauthorized leaks for announcements?

Interesting. In the CHEK News daily poll, which they admit is not scientific, but strictly how viewers vote, it was 60% liberal. But Victoria has a high lefty infestation.

Carney insiders have told The Globe and Mail that an election will be called for either April 28 or May 5.
Trying to get him across the line well he is still fresh .

Before he has to answer any questions. Unscripted questions I mean.
There had been talk of the Liberals calling an election as early as March 16, this coming Sunday with voting on April 22, just after Easter. Yet, with so few candidates nominated, the Liberals are in a scramble to ensure they have representation in every riding in the country.

Now there is discussion of Carney calling an election on March 23, to give the party more time to get organized. Voting day would then either be on April 28, or given the lack of candidates, May 5 to allow more time to recruit and vet potential Liberal MPs.

The one thing the Liberals don’t appear to want to do at this point is to face the House of Commons and a series of confidence votes on March 24…or even just have to answer questions in a less than tightly controlled setting.
(YouTube & LILLEY UNLEASHED: If you haven’t heard, Jagmeet Singh has ripped up his agreement with the Liberals)

That could change given the musings of NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh who — back in December — said he was definitely voting the Liberal government down. That comment came after the NDP propped up the Liberals for two years and only when it was too late to force them into an election with Justin Trudeau still as leader.

An NDP official, speaking on background, said the most the party would be willing to do would be to help the government pass supports for workers, such as expanding employment insurance for workers impacted by the Trump tariffs & whatever other handful of magic beans the liberals throw their way to justify dragging this out for another handful of months or more…

“There’s no blank cheque,” the official said.😉

Speaking to Liberals, Conservatives and NDP operatives in Ottawa, no one expects the House of Commons to resume, though, through a democratically representative Parliament.

At some point between now and March 23, the expectation is that Carney, our soon to be newly minted but never elected Prime Minister, will seek a mandate from the people.

While I fully support an outcome that would see Pierre Poilievre replace Carney as PM, we need a head of government that has an actual mandate from the people. Can you imagine Carney trying to negotiate with Donald Trump without a mandate from the electorate, selected to be PM by just 131,674 “registered Liberals?”
