The Fair Elections Act makes it more difficult for people to vote and prevents Elections Canada from encouraging people to vote.

As you said:

The Conservative Party has calculated that suppressing democracy is good for their democratic aspirations. That should tell you enough.

I took a look at it and couldn't see a single thing that would make it more difficult for me to vote. I agree that someone should be able to prove where they live beyond someone else's say so. That's just a good business practice. From what I can gather the fair elections act just ensure a higher percentage of legitimate ballots among the total ballots cast. To me, anything that will curtail the sh*t that went on in Ontario last election for which some A$$hole is current spending some time in jail, is a good thing. I don't see where legitimate voters have anything to fear. If voting is important to a person, picture I.D. is fairly easily obtainable. With a right should also be a responsibility. :)

I would add that anybody who thinks that, has lost all contact with reality.

Harper has done nothing to stop Vancouver and Victoria from dumping thousands of tons of raw sewage into their bays each and every day... Oh wait, that's right, it isn't a jurisdiction that he has any power over, just like the oilsands

Our water ways can be protected: no pipelines and no tankers.

If you want to go back 500+ years North America would have been protected if they hadn't given Chris a passport!

Apparently the tidal action of the ocean takes care of that crap! (Mind you I'm not sure what prevents it from floating to the top)
