What's the point of only being there for six months?

The British have said they will be there for years, as that's how long it will take to defeat these terrorists. What good will being there for six months achieve?

We've found that for most endeavours Canada can accomplish in 6 months what it takes the Blighters 6 years to achieve!

I've got a feeling I'm going to come back and haunt you in six months' time when Canada pulls out of the conflict having achieved little and having completely and utterly wasted everybody's time.

With a conflict that's going to take years, the Canadians deciding just to participate for six months (at the most) is completely and utterly ludicrous and pointless and won't achieve much. It seems that the days of Canadians' much-vaunted (on this forum, at least) fighting prowess are now long over, judging by this ludicrous decision. Either stay in for the long-haul or don't bother taking part at all.

It seems that, in this day and age of Canada being oh so wish-washy, cringy, and liberal, the Canadians just don't have the fight in them (and the military capability) anymore. Six months is the best you can do nowadays, even against a group of poorly-armed terrorists. It's embarrassing.

Yes, Hitler wanted what he strived for but you are missing the point on Goering and Propaganda.

Goering was a master at propaganda and his personal files and records indicate that his mission was to create a hysteria amongst a segment of the Germans and it worked.

A good recent example was the build up to getting Saddam (yes I agree he was a piece of c r a p) to going after him for 9/11 and for extra emphasis they said he had all of the Chem weapons the USA had sold him over the decades and he was ready to attack Freedomland.

You are in England?

I would have thought you'd be well informed on the concept of Propaganda in Germany and Goering.

Start here...

Controlling Thought:

Read one of his speeches.

Nazi Propaganda (1933-1945) - Joseph Goebbels

Cliffy, that is simply idiotic.

I saw a film clip of a town retaken from ISIS. Crucifixions in the town square. Dozens of heads on pikes. Genocide against Christians, Yazidis, Shia Muslims. Sexual enslavement of girls to be gang raped.

Pull your head out of your a$$

Does that mean you are leaving for 6 months.

Right- It appears UK aircraft are stretching the UK to the limits of their capabilities.

Parliament backs air strikes against ISIS by 534 to 43 | Daily Mail Online

The debate comes amid warnings the RAF has been reduced to the 'bare bones' by defence cuts.
Former head of the RAF, Air Chief Marshall Sir Michael Graydon, said the RAF was at rock bottom after years of cuts.

He said the RAF was already committed to defending UK air space as well as operations in Afghanistan, Nigeria, and the Falklands.
'The lack of combat aircraft is a major weakness,' he said. 'This has been raised time and time again and basically ignored. We really are at rock bottom. To sustain this operation is going to be quite a stretch.'
Air Commodore Andrew Lambert added: 'I think it's do-able, but we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel, so let's hope Ukraine doesn't bubble up into something nasty.'
But Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond denied the use of only six aircraft suggested Britain was not fully committed to the operation.
'We are not contributing in a half-hearted manner,' the Foreign Secretary said. 'There are many aspects to this campaign, it isn't just about airstrikes.

The last time we sent Canadian troops to one of these clusterf--ks we lost 160 killed and about a thousand wounded. I would like to know more about the mission than I do now. Can we win?

Bugger off bear! Who died and made you an authority on anything? In any case, we don't know what Harper will say on Monday. Obama has asked for help and I think t\he wants boots on the ground. I will be very surprised if we get away with a half dozen CF - 18s

Bugger off bear!
You sound angry.

Who died and made you an authority on anything?
No body died teaching me how to read and listen.

You should try it some time. You wouldn't post so much stupidity.

In any case, we don't know what Harper will say on Monday.
He outlined the bulk of the mission plan on Friday. See, reading and listening is helpful, and no one died.

Obama has asked for help and I think t\he wants boots on the ground.
And Harper said NO!

I will be very surprised if we get away with a half dozen CF - 18s
I will be very surprised if you Liberals ever stop being so obtuse.

We have boots on the ground- parliament was advised of such.
Advisers- not in a Combat role
So when Harper states no Combat troops, what will you have to say then?
