PET and Chretien had balls but they were Liberals so Cons would never admit that. Both of them told the Yanks where to go.

And then turned arroud and sent troops anyway;). At least Harper tells you exactly what he intends to do. And then dos it ;)

Pierre never sent troups to Vietnam and Chretien kept us out of Iraq. He sent troups to Afghanistan for peace keeping and Harpo turned it into a battle field.

Harper turned Afghanistan into a battlefield?

How can one even respond to such a foolish statement?

Typical cons. Can't dispute the OP so attack the messenger just like a bunch of little kids in a sand box. Keep it up. Mom will be by soon to change your diapers.

SUre we can. No right thinking person is opposed to what Harper is doing. The terrorist loving jew haters OTH are not so thrilled. Fortunately Canadians don't care what they think.

Why did Canada go to war in Afghanistan? Was it simply a case of bandwagoning with Uncle Sam?
I guess Canada's pharmaceutical companies needed the opium too, but it may have been because Uncle Sam guilted out our guvment for not joining him in his well planned and executed invasion of Iraq.

Canada and much of NATO looked at the quick removal of the Taliban from power in Afghanistan after 9/11. They saw an easy way to pretend to garrison Afghanistan while the US invaded Iraq without having to support America in Iraq. I think the idea was to pose as a faithful ally without bearing a serious burden. They didn't realize that the war in Afghanistan would metastasize and they would be required to actually fight a serious foe. The Canadian Armed Forces fought with honor and distinction, but without an attainable political objective. In retrospect it all seems much like the First Anglo-Afghan War in the 1840s.

The Afghans are not ten feet tall. One has a choice with the Afghans...kill them all or leave them alone. Any other course of action is doomed to defeat.
