California Just Became the First State to Require Solar Panels on New Residential Construction

California just became the first state to mandate solar panels on nearly all new residential homes.

The mandate is part of California’s “Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan,” which includes the goal that both residential and commercial construction be zero net energy by 2030—meaning the buildings’ annual energy usage is either less than or equal to the renewable energy generated onsite. California was also the first state to require net zero energy through building code.

The solar panel requirement, which applies to new single and multi-family home construction up to three stories high, was included in an update to the state’s building energy efficiency standards. The California Energy Commission approved the standards today and they will become effective January 1, 2020.

California has been a leader in statewide initiatives to combat climate change, including setting aggressive goals like lowering carbon pollution to at least 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, as well as requiring that utility companies get at least 50 percent of all electricity from renewables by the same year. About 20 percent of California’s new homes are built with solar arrays and the state has held about a third of the nation’s total jobs in solar since 2013, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. A state energy department analysis estimates the new building code will add about 5,400 jobs to that market.

They must be up your

Funny, how they didn't aggressively prove CO2 has anything to do with climate other than that it goes up BECAUSE of temperature, and when we have warmer times the earth and civilization does the best.

Just watch inconvenient truth and zoom in on LIAR Al Gore's chart in the movie, ( he bought a seaside estate with the profits!), you'll see the truth right there for yourself.

The Crux Of The Global Warming Fraud: Global Warmingistas Claim CO2 Drives Temperature, But Just The Opposite Is True

You can clearly see that temperatures were significantly warmer in the last interglacial warm period compared to today’s temperatures, in spite of the fact that CO2, today, is higher. If Gore’s argument that CO2 controls the temperature is true, this fact, alone, should make you question his claim.

There there, It's Ok, there won't be many new homes built once they stop the quantitative easing Obama (the solyndra guy ) started, and the resulting SUPER COLLAPSE that that has made certain, hits full force.

Solar might actually work in aliforinia since they get lots of sunlight. Does the law say they have to work or just be there?
You do have to wonder about their usefullness if it requires a lawyer to get them installed.

Attitudes like this is why over half the structures in Floriduh cannot withstand a Category 3 hurricane.

You mean requiring it to be usefull and not just an expensive add on? Smoke alarms are usefull. In my experience solar panels are expensive add ons and as I said in Calafornia they might be efficient, but if they are they why the need to legislate them into construction?

We like that up here. You can slap your ridiculous tariffs on softwood lumber all you want and we can still sell the stuff, thanks to the Three Little Pigs Construction Code.

Works for CA. No doubt good for builders who will no doubt get their markups on them. One little correction to the OP. California did not put their emission control laws in place to tackle CO2. They did it to tackle smog. But revisionist history sounds better for the narrative I suppose.

If traffic laws are needed, why the need to legislate them into being?

For your response, I suggest you parrot the Kinder Egg thing. Again.
