The winter builds character, standing around waiting for a bus at -30C with a -45C windchill tends to toughen you up. We are the most Northerly major metropolis in North America and proud of it.

It doesn't matter where they were from the Oilers in the 1980s were one of the best sports franchises of all time. Pocklington was an ass for trading Gretzky.

Edmonton also has a rich cultural life too with many music and arts festivals.

Calgary's not all bad, it's just never going to match the glory of Edmonton.

When he played here he turned hockey into an artform, I'm not sure we've seen the same combination of talent on one team since.

Sitting in Rexall place you can't help but be impressed by all the championship banners hanging from the ceiling.

It was really cool meeting all the oilers and getting all their autographs and pics of Gretz in the cockpit on the way to LA
