RE: Bush Appoints Bolton,
It's called the United Nations, WC. It is not called the Organisation of States that WC likes. It also has no power of its own. All of the power regarding armed conflict resides in the Security Council. In the Security Council, 5 permanent members have a veto. The US has used their veto extensively, and not to spread democracy.
The US has also been instrumental in blocking any changes that would mitigate the power of the 5 permanent members.
Those are called facts, WC. They aren't opinion, and they aren't the spin you tried to put on things with your last post.
So to answer the "working or ignoring" question in your last post...The UN, as an organisation was doing what they could. The most powerful members of the UN, including your beloved United States, were blocking attempted actions for political reasons.
Nobody is claiming that the UN isn't flawed. The organisation needs reform and everybody recognises that. The wishes of some, yourself included, to destroy the UN because you do not understand what it does, how it operates, or what it has achieved are a major roadblock to meaningful reform. Worse than that, they are a destabilising force in the world because you are working to undermine what really is the only game in town.
