It's just a few who 'think' like Republicans. I use the word think advisedly for that crowd.
For the most part Canadians are cool.:angel8:

This is expected to be the ''coolest'' weekend of the year with temperatures and wind chills well below zero.
But we like it!
Thanks for sending us that ''cool'' Canadian air!
this is so hilariouse !! the people such as the British idiots writing on this saying ' oh the yanks are useless and pathetic'
hahah i have lived in England for 9 years and i have seen the stupidity of the British !
and i have trained with both the US and the UK military and there is a HUGE difference. the equipment used in the US military is much more advanced and better than the British.
the training we went through in England was pretty intense but im sorry to say in the US you can die in the training. thats how harsh it can me.
and yes fine but every single country has friendly fired. The British have friendly fired in wars many times ! but when American forces do its everywhere ! this is because America is such a huge and well developed country it is a huge thing !
England is small so it doesnt matter what happens.
but i just wanted to say this because of all the un-intellagent people on this forum !

Welcome to CC, Steve.
Well if the US is really so much better, why does the US military have such a difficult time winning wars in recent history? Let me think .. Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq... hrmm, I can't recall any victories.
If the soldiers are so well trained and are equipped with the best ever military technology, why can't they win a war against relatively tiny opponents? Furthermore, why are there so many friendly fire attacks by the US on their allies over the past 5 years? It all makes me wonder.
Your examples can all be answered the same way.
Gutless, entitlement-driven civilians, and the politicians that hug their nuts.
Not sure where you're getting the idea that we lost Korea or Vietnam. Last I checked, North Korea is still starving its residents, and it would be a stretch to say we were defeated militarily in Vietnam. Saddam's taking a dirt nap, and Bin Laden is running for his life and making videos in his plush cave studios.
All at the regrettable cost of just over 3000 service members lives.
We had around 21,000 casualties in two days or so of fighting at the Battle of Antietam during our civil war.
I'd say we are winning in the body count if you lined up all the jihadis next to our dead.
yes but like in vietnam the US go in with good intentions, to help the country sort out their own problems.
yes but like in vietnam the US go in with good intentions, to help the country sort out their own problems.
in iraq the US are teaching their army to fight and gain control of their country.
and the US are very well trained. just because they have made mistakes doesnt mean you can call them guttless and mindless and useless.
and in ww2 the US saved the Brits. you gotta keep that in mind that if we didnt come in you would either be speaking German right now or you would not be here today.
you have a LOT to thank the USA for. so when all you people say stuff like 'the yanks are pathetic and useless'. just keep in mind what we did for you. and what we are doing right now to help you.

That was very nice Tonnington:smile:There's a couple quotes I like about good intentions. Basically they are all variations of [/font] 'Hell is full of good intentions or desires.'
A good intention is to help those less fortunate. A desire is to help those lest fortunate if it suits our purpose, and this belongs in the deep pits of an inferno. Those can both be twisted to the converse.
Viewing history through rosy glasses is a poor bias. All 'truths' contain a portion of themselves anyways. If we only desire to be good, or intend to be good, without actually doing good, then the exercise is of lessened, perhaps even no value.
To make each of our countries better places, one ought to recognize our own hypocrisies, and duly note them so we don't continue faulty notions of feel good wrapped disasters.
With us or against us split a great civilization in two, it can happen again with those rosy glasses;-)
