And what member of the Kennedy family then went on to try and kill off America's breweries, distillers and vintners?
Well, you got a point there. The Brothers Kennedy were enthusiastic supporters of the brewers, vintners, distillers, moonshiners, whatever-the-hell-you-call-people-who-make-cider, and in a pinch, shaving-lotion manufacturers.

Can anyone explain how the Gov. is pushing forward with business as usual while the Gov. is prorogued?

Trudeau defends announcing $37B income-support plan after shuttering Parliament

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is defending his choice to shut down Parliament shortly before unveiling a $37-billion plan to replace a key emergency aid benefit.

Ottawa announced new measures Thursday to support Canadians who have lost income or employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic — or need to stay off work for illness or caregiving — as the Canada Emergency Response Benefit winds down.

That includes benefits that must be introduced in legislation — something that cannot happen until Parliament resumes late next month.

Speaking in Brockville, Ont., on Friday, Trudeau said his government wanted to take the time to get this plan right and argued that a new direction by the Liberal minority government needs to be supported by a confidence vote.

But he also said opposition parties will have the opportunity to voice any disagreement with the proposed income-support measures through debate in the House of Commons when MPs return to Ottawa in late September.

"I think Canadians can be confident when they look across party lines that everyone seems serious about supporting Canadians. There's different approaches on how to do it, different perspectives on how much to do, but I think Canadians have seen from us that we will always be there for Canadians, we will have your backs, we will be there to support, whatever it takes," he said.

"Other parties might not believe that, might not agree with that and I'm sure there will be important debates around that and I encourage those and welcome them."

The new support measures announced Thursday outline what the Liberals intend for the four million workers currently receiving the $500-a-week CERB, which is set to wind down starting next month.

The CERB will be extended another four weeks, and a new benefit that pays $400 a week for up to 26 weeks will replace it for those ineligible for employment insurance, such as contract, self-employed and "gig" economy workers......More

Can the opposition parties carry on their committee inquiries because Canadian's support it and really want to know?

Why is it that CERB pays more than CPP? Spend a lifetime paying into a pension for $1100/mo.while people that never even worked full time get $2000/mo for nothing.

Here is another head scratcher for a shut down Gov. How can he travel on the taxpayer's dime when he is not working for the taxpayer until Sept. 23?

Foreign affairs minister heading to Lebanon for 1st overseas trip since start of pandemic

The opposition parties should be allowed to carry on with their committees into the Trudie scandal if the Gov. is allowed to carry on as usual IMO

No, I am describing the fiscally irresponsible left that is only interested in how much they can get for themselves right now with no concern for future generations that have to pay the bill. People like you.

Oh yea, the party that can't even get their ballot machine to work and you think Canadians want them taking care of their money lol

As opposed to the party that would rather give work to a state-owned Chinese corporation rather than a Canadian corporation just because said corp. is in Alberta, even though they put in a lower bid than the Chinese.

Travel is what they do best. At least 20% of the job duties. Occupies time, makes people important to travel on other peoples money, zero payback on investment. Write a letter already.

An even bigger joke was the $5 million Canada pledged in aid after the explosion. The minister will be toured through the destruction. big deal. Stay home, save money, watch it on the news.

I agree except for the little fact that there is no Government right now and there should be no taxpayer money being spent on Government cabinet ministers working for a shutdown Gov.

Same as approving spending on anything that can not be reviewed because there is no Gov., wanna do this stuff reopen Gov. and get the proper approvals.
