The unsinkable Patrick Brown has surfaced in the Brampton mayoral race.
Just hours after Premier Doug Ford officially announced that he was cancelling regional chair elections in Peel, York, Niagara and Muskoka, Brown registered to run against incumbent Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey.
Brown, who had planned to seek the regional chair position in Peel, said that he wants a Brampton where citizens can have good jobs and feel safe.
“We need leadership for that and that’s been lacking at Brampton City Hall,” Brown told CP24 Friday.
He said he has a residence in Brampton and practices law there.
The former leader of the Ontario PCs was pushed out earlier this year after two allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced, claims that Brown has said are false.
He is currently writing a book and suing the media outlet, CTV, that first reported the allegations.

Ex-Ontario Tory leader Patrick Brown attempts political comeback in Brampton

TORONTO — Patrick Brown is down, but he may not be out yet.
The embattled politician, who was forced to resign as leader of Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives months before the party won a majority government, is trying to resurrect his political career with a run for mayor in Brampton, a fast-growing city northwest of Toronto where over 70% of residents identify as visible minorities.
Brown faces an uphill battle against incumbent Mayor Linda Jeffrey, a former Liberal cabinet minister who has the support of high-profile politicians from major parties, including some of Brown’s former colleagues.

The 40-year-old’s foray into city politics followed a short-lived campaign to become chair of Peel Region, an elected position Premier Doug Ford, who succeeded Brown as Tory leader, abruptly turned into an appointed role just three months shy of Monday’s municipal election.
“In the minds of many voters in Brampton there may be a question of whether Patrick Brown is more interested in taking on Premier Ford and perhaps some retribution against Mr. Ford more so than serving the residents of Brampton,” said Myer Siemiatycki, a political science professor at Ryerson University.
“This might be the preliminary round as far as Mr. Brown is hopeful for a featured match with Premier Ford.”
Brown — who represented residents of Barrie, Ont., municipally and federally before becoming a provincial legislator for an area north of the city — insists he cares deeply about Brampton, where he now resides with his newly wed wife.
“I’m worried about Brampton,” he said during a recent debate. “You used to talk about Brampton and it was the envy of the (Greater Toronto Area) and they certainly don’t talk about it that way today.”

Jeffrey, meanwhile, has called Brown a political opportunist, accusing him of using the Brampton mayoral race to rehabilitate his political career.
“The ink barely dried on his lease before he decided to seek our city’s highest office,” she said after Brown entered the race.
Despite Brown’s efforts to turn the page on the scandal that erupted in January when CTV News reported allegations of sexual misconduct levelled against the then-Tory leader by two women — claims he has denied — his days at the provincial legislature are still making headlines.
A government document leaked to the media this week — just days before the vote in Brampton — showed Brown spent nearly $300,000 on support staff and office operations after resigning as leader and being turfed from Tory caucus. The expenses were in line with legislative rules and involved severance payments to staff, Brown said in a statement.
He is also suing CTV News for defamation, although the broadcaster maintains it did nothing wrong when it reported the allegations against him.
Brown, who did not respond to several requests for an interview, is also writing a tell-all book about what he has described as his “political assassination.”
If Brown emerges a winner on Monday, he could be a thorn in Ford’s side for years to come, said Nelson Wiseman, a political science professor at the University of Toronto.
“If he becomes mayor, it gives him a platform to make a lot of noise,” he said. “It’s something politically that Ford and his office would have to deal with.”

Wiseman said Brown’s hopes to win could hinge on his connections within Brampton’s politically active Indo-Canadian community. Brown is friends with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has visited the country more than a dozen times.
“He’s got all this baggage but on the other hand he’s got name identification, which helps people municipally,” Wiseman said.
“Some people might feel, getting someone like this, even though he’s infamous in many ways, is an asset … some might think it will be bad for the city’s image and for dealing with the provincial government.”

WARMINGTON: Brampton home to Patrick Brown's big political comeback
Joe Warmington
Published:
October 22, 2018

October 22, 2018 11:33 PM EDT
BRAMPTON — Patrick Brown thought he was going to take office in 2018.
Just not this office.
True, he won’t be called Mr. Premier — but instead Mr. Mayor.
Mayor of Brampton, that is.
The 40-year-old former leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative party was successful in knocking off incumbent Linda Jeffrey.
And was he ever emotional when he took the stage with new wife Genevieve Gualtieri, in what was a remarkable turnaround in a turbulent year.
Just call him the comeback kid.
And what a comeback it was — one from not only the depths of politics, but personally too.
One day they will write books about Patrick Brown’s 2018.
In a way he was like the Pete Best of the political world, in that he missed the big show by mere months — same as the former Beatles drummer.
With Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne failing in opinion polls, the smart money was on Brown to be the province’s next premier.
But an alleged sex scandal which later fell apart, a party coup and public shaming left the man on the verge of winning the top job, out of a job.
It was a massive fall from grace. He should have been the king of Queen’s Park, but ended up in the back benches — shunned and shamed.
He kept on fighting. Now he promised to fight for Brampton, sending a message to Premier Doug Ford and Prime Minister Trudeau that if “you want to visit Brampton. we deserve investment that comes with that visit” and “we want our share.”
Interesting times are ahead.
Ending up as Brampton’s mayor was not on anyone’s script — not even his own. His eye was on being the Peel Regional chair.
But the new boss changed the game and eliminated elected regional chair positions along with the shrinking the size of Toronto city council. Brown hustled to get his name on the ballot for mayor of Brampton, a place his background in was limited but a centre where a lot of his supporters hailed from.
What a campaign they ran. When the votes were counted, Brown had about 44% compared to Jeffrey’s 41% — a three per cent win.
What a year it’s been for Brown, who was up and down and then back up again. Now not only is he a married man (our honeymoon was knocking on doors, he joked) but now the mayor of one of the GTA’s most important cities.
Meanwhile in another key city, Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie won a second term easily with more than 75% of the vote, with closest rival Kevin J. Johnston gaining just 13%.
“I am proud to be the Mayor of Mississauga and to lead our City into its next chapter,” said Crombie in an online message. “I hope you will join me as we work together to build Mississauga into an even better place to call home.”
For Crombie, it’s big because it marks a re-election to a second term. She was ecstatic with her huge reaffirmation.
But the big story of the night was Brown, who may not be premier but will instead be dealing with Premier Ford in his new role as mayor of Brampton.

Good for Patrick Brown.

Now we'll see what the vindictive Doug Ford does to Brampton in punishment. He hasn't finished getting even with the Toronto who rejected him, yet.

Ford says sexual misconduct allegations against minister are ’smear campaign’
Canadian Press

TORONTO — Ontario Premier Doug Ford defended his finance minister Wednesday, saying allegations of sexual misconduct against the veteran legislator referenced in a book by former Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown are nothing but a “disgusting smear campaign.”
Ford threw his support behind Vic Fedeli in a series of tweets, calling him “honourable, ethical and decent” and denouncing the allegations in Brown’s book as “lies.”
“I would rather have the endorsement of Kathleen Wynne than Patrick Brown,” Ford tweeted Wednesday evening.
“The lies in this book are disgusting.”
Fedeli, meanwhile, called the allegations “categorically false and without any merit,” and said he was prepared to take legal action.
Brown stepped down as party leader in January amid allegations of sexual misconduct he continuously denies, paving the way for Ford to succeed him and lead the Tories to a majority.
He announced shortly afterward that he would pen a tell-all book, then returned to politics this fall, winning the mayoral election in Brampton, Ont., northwest of Toronto.
In the book, Brown alleges Fedeli was accused of “inappropriate behaviour” by a party staffer in December of last year.
Brown, who was still party leader at that time, said the accusations “were not anything I could picture being consistent with Fedeli’s character” but that he could not disregard them and told Fedeli he would look into the matter.
Brown alleges that when he spoke to the complainant, she asked that the matter go no further.
“I respected her wishes and certainly without her involvement an investigation would be less than productive,” he wrote.
Brown further alleges that the woman was let go shortly after Fedeli was named interim party leader, but that she was kept on the legislative payroll.
Opposition legislators said that if anyone made such allegations against the finance minister, the premier should order an independent investigation and remove Fedeli from cabinet until it is concluded.
“If there is any truth to allegations that the Conservative government is protecting Mr. Fedeli by buying the silence of his victim, Ford needs to come clean with the people of Ontario,” NDP deputy leader Sara Singh said in a statement.
In denying the allegations, Fedeli suggested Brown was using his book to carry out personal vendettas.
“Facts related to Mr. Brown’s lack of credibility are well documented and on the public record, as are his motivations in using his book to pursue old grievances,” he said in a statement.
“Throughout my career I have held myself to a high ethical standard in my interactions with others. There is no validity whatsoever to any of these allegations.”

So when a conservative is accused of sexual abuse he redeems himself by reveling he also covered up another instance of sexual abuse.

That whole crowd is pretty easy to please.

========================================================================================================

POO)R STUPID HOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wrong about things as usual!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brown did not sue the Conservative party because THEY ARE NOT THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The PROBLEM is the rabid bigotry of the LIE-beral legal system that allows a pair of bimbos to make damaging allegations in a TV STATION and then walk away with NO repercussions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would cost Brown at least one hundred grand to sue the 2 bimbos who have slandered him.......and they OWN NOTHING so he has NO WAY to recover costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As it stands now- many Cdns simply assume that the attack on Browns reputation was probably the last ditch, desperate, sleazy effort of a dying LIE-beral Wynne-bag govt to save itself- or at least slow down the Ford political machine that was rolling over them!!!!!!!

PC MPP Lisa MacLeod, left, and Patrick Brown (Postmedia files)
Ontario cabinet minister Lisa MacLeod says she wants to ensure anyone who discloses their mental-health struggles isn’t ridiculed, undermined or made fun of.
She made the comments at the legislature after former Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown wrote about her mental health issues in his new tell-all book.
Brown alleged that some party organizers believed MacLeod made up her mental health issues in order to garner public support.
Brown’s sexual misconduct allegations against Fedeli ‘smear campaign’: Ford
MacLeod, who has long been public about her mental health struggles, called Brown’s comments disgusting and cruel.
She says mental health is not a laughing matter and added that she wanted to encourage anyone seeking support to get the help they need.
Brown says today that his team supported MacLeod when she faced mental health challenges despite internal opposition.
