Absolutely, Trudie must put a request in to the Queen to have her removed, or get her to resign

Be careful what you wish for comes to mind, TM though I too think she should be shown the door and the sooner, the better for all. That said, judging by the type of person that appeals to the uneducated mind of our little potato - her replacement could very well be much worse. Also, it does not appear that thorough of vetting of personnel is a high priority with this minority government else they would have detected the many red flags on Payette's file when she was being vetted for the position.

Another hit piece on Payette I think she will be asking Morneau for a bite of his apple and ask to see a peak of his road map

Governor General's scorn for RCMP driving up unnecessary costs, sources say

Gov. Gen. Julie Payette's disdain for the Mounties paid to protect her has resulted in added security risks and unnecessary taxpayer costs, according to RCMP and Rideau Hall sources.

Payette's secrecy and resistance to working with the RCMP routinely sends her protective detail scrambling to fulfil last-minute requests and drives up spending on overtime, hotel and plane tickets, multiple sources told CBC News.

Payette has even made repeated attempts to slip away from her protectors in Canada and abroad, sources say. The force has also had to apologize for her behaviour to foreign security abroad because she treated them so poorly, said sources.

The latest revelations come as the Governor General's office is under an extraordinary workplace review by the Privy Council Office after CBC News reported claims Payette has belittled, berated and publicly humiliated employees. She's also under fire for spending more than $250,000 on renovation projects for her desire for privacy, though after three years in office she still hasn't moved into her official residence.

Sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, now list a litany of avoidable expenses that left taxpayers on the hook. They include:

RCMP paying double or triple the price for flights abroad because Payette hadn't decided if she was going on personal or work trips until the last minute. Some international flights have cost up to $12,000.
Hotel rooms with a $400 price tag sitting empty near the Citadelle — her second official residence in Quebec City — because Payette suddenly decided she wanted to go to her cottage north of Montreal, but it was too late to cancel the original booking.
The cost of an additional officer — ranging from an estimated $4,000 to $15,000 per week — on international trips to guard Payette's door because of her repeated attempts to slip away from her protective detail.
"It's infuriating," said one RCMP source with direct knowledge of Payette's protective detail. "She incurs costs that are unbelievable. It's Canadians' money that is not well spent because of someone who is difficult." .....More

Yow! Bet ten bucks she is a member of the mile high club.

Why does Canada need this. They spout off about tradition when Canada is only 150 years old and having so much change in recent years that 50 years ago was another world.

Bank of Canada Act is 135 yrs old but it is good because they can manipulate it to their benefit. That is the tradition they want to hold onto.

By appeasing the NDP certainly will stem off a confidence defeat below is a start to it, Gov. shutdown but as of yesterday still doing business how does this work? If Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough can sit in her office and layout a new program while Gov. is being over seen by Payette right now is not right, why can't the committees carry on there work as well then?

Liberals to replace CERB with new benefit, simplified EI program at cost of $37B

OTTAWA — The federal Liberals are rolling out a $37-billion income-support plan for workers whose earnings have crashed during the pandemic, providing a hint of future changes to the social safety net — and igniting a debate about what should stay.

The details released Thursday outline what the Liberals intend for some four million workers receiving the $500-a-week Canada Emergency Response Benefit, which is set to wind down starting next month.

The CERB will be extended another four weeks, and a new benefit that pays $400 a week for up to 26 weeks will replace it for those ineligible for employment insurance, such as contract, self-employed and "gig" economy workers.

Anyone eligible for EI will get the same minimum for at least 26 weeks and will need to have worked 120 hours to qualify, well below current EI requirements, since many Canadians have been unable to work to the pandemic.

There will also be $500-a-week sickness benefit and caregiving benefit for anyone who has to stay home because they're ill, or because school or daycare is closed.

Changes are also coming to people to keep more of their benefits even while they're working, eliminating the earnings cliff created under CERB that acted as a disincentive to work.

Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough said the changes were designed to give Canadians a longer-term view of the support they could receive, while also acknowledging the outlook beyond 2021 is uncertain.

She said the government's upcoming throne speech will outline plans to close the gaps in the decades-old EI system, and redesign it to reflect how Canadians work now and into the future......More

I can't believe how far off the mark Venezuela is on this claiming Canada wants their Oil wealth while Trudie doesn't even want ours.

Venezuela's foreign minister says Canada causing his country's collapse to 'take control' of its wealth

OTTAWA — Venezuela is staggering in the face of a years-long power struggle, food shortages, hyper-inflation and an exodus of its citizens.

The country’s foreign minister says, Blame Canada.

Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza is part of Nicolas Maduro’s government, which most Western countries no longer recognize, but it does still control most of the country’s institutions. He was speaking through Zoom to a Canadian audience on Thursday, in an event organized by the left-leaning Canadian Foreign Policy Institute.

Canada and most other Western nations have backed Juan Guaidó, a former member of the country’s national assembly who declared himself the interim president in 2019 after Maduro’s re-election in what many say was a fraudulent vote.

In 2017, Canada helped to form the Lima Group, a group of countries, including most of the major countries in North and South America, to call for Maduro to step down and for free elections to be held in the country.

In a lengthy speech Thursday, Arreaza said the Canadian government was attempting to undermine Venezuela to take the nation’s wealth.

“Canada has been in the centre of these events and this means that they want to create the conditions in order to attack Venezuela, to invade Venezuela, because they want to take control of our country and its wealth.”

The Lima Group specifically rules out any type of violence of force as a means to change in Venezuela. The U.S. is not a member of the group, but has said it supports its aims.

Canada hosts Lima Group, appeals for world's help on Venezuela crisis
Embattled Venezuelan president thanks Canada for support, asks world for more help restoring democracy
Arreaza accused the group of being nothing more than a front for U.S. action.

“No one is going to give any credibility to this group, because they will believe that it is the United States with its regime change policy trying to attack Venezuela.”

Most observers believe the Maduro government’s policies are to blame for the economic crisis hitting the country that has led to food shortages, mass unemployment and a complete collapse of the country’s currency. There have been several large protests in the streets, which the government has met with force. Millions of Venezuelans have also fled the country.

Arreaza said Canada’s push for a change in government and the economic sanctions the country faces are the cause of the country’s problems.

“We have a high inflation level because of the disturbances in our economy. We are threatened with invasions,” he said. “How could you expect not to have economic migration?”.....More

SIU clears all police officers in the death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet

29-year-old's father 'absolutely disgusted' by report as his lawyers say criminal liability possible

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has cleared all police officers of wrongdoing in the death of 29-year-old Regis Korchinski-Paquet, it announced Wednesday.

The agency, which investigates incidents involving police in which death or serious injury occurs, launched an investigation after the Toronto woman fell to her death from her 24th-floor apartment balcony on May 27 while police were in her home.

That day, her mother, Claudia Clayton-Beals, posted a video online, stating that she believed police officers pushed Korchinski-Paquet off the balcony.

"The police killed my daughter, came into my apartment and shoved her off the balcony," Clayton-Beals said the day her daughter died.

The agency, known as the SIU, has closed its investigation into her death and cleared the officers. The Fifth Estate asked the SIU for comment but has not heard back.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, SIU director Joseph Martino said he concluded there were no reasonable grounds to believe any of the five officers who were in or around the apartment had committed a criminal offence.

"There were allegations in the wake of Ms. Korchinski-Paquet's death that she was pushed off the balcony by the police. The evidence establishes that this did not occur," Martino said in his statement.

"Instead, the evidence indicates that no one other than Ms. Korchinski-Paquet was on the balcony when she scaled over the railing and attempted to sidestep along the outer ledge over to her neighbour's balcony, lost her balance and fell."

However, at the same time as Martino released his report, her family members were inside the SIU's headquarters in Mississauga for a briefing. Korchinski-Paquet's brother, father and sister, as well as their three lawyers, attended.

Korchinski-Paquet's death triggered large anti-police protests across the country, with thousands taking to the streets demanding justice for her.

Her death came just two days after George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer, with that timing connecting her death with the worldwide movement against police brutality.

"It was unbelievable when I saw the huge crowds and everyone walking peacefully together in the midst of COVID, in the midst of George Floyd," the family's lawyer, Knia Singh, told The Fifth Estate before the investigation's conclusion.

"It simply means that her death cannot go unanswered."

Martino said investigators interviewed all six officers who were in or around the Korchinski apartment at the time that she died, as well as 15 civilian witnesses, including her mother and brother.

'Narrow' task

Korchinski-Paquet was on the phone with her father moments before she fell, Martino said.

Investigators also reviewed 911 calls, security camera video, police records and two post-mortem reports.

"I accept that systemic racism exists and continues to challenge the relationship between racialized communities and the institutions of our justice system, just as it does in other sectors of society," Martino said. "However, the task before me was a narrow one."

He said that his job was to identify any criminal wrongdoing, which he did not find, rather than to look at systemic racism in the police force. He did note that Korchinski-Paquet is a member of the Black and Indigenous communities, and that her family said she told police that her father was white in an attempt to "court favour."

Family's lawyers investigate

The family hired a team of lawyers, including former SIU director Howard Morton, who conducted their own investigation, including ordering a second autopsy.

At a media conference earlier this summer, Morton said that based on the evidence he had seen to that point, he supported criminal charges for the officers involved.

"Our investigation leads us to believe that there is a sound basis for criminal liability against the officers who burst into the apartment," Morton said on July 15.

Members of Korchinski-Paquet's family spoke to the media in July.

Shortly after Korchinski-Paquet's death, Toronto Police Services Chief Mark Saunders, who has since retired, took the unusual step of holding a news conference before the SIU had completed its investigation.

Saunders held the conference two days after she died, and slammed stories circulating online of her being pushed to her death as
"lies" spread by "opportunists." He emphasized that police are legally forbidden from speaking about cases that were the subject of probes by the Special Investigations Unit, yet the chief proceeded to speak about the case anyway.

Saunders told the news conference that three 911 calls for an assault in the apartment had been made that evening, with two of the calls saying a knife was involved.

He went on to say that weapons-related calls take the highest priority and that he hadn't sent a mobile crisis intervention team because "there's no way I would put a nurse in the middle of a knife fight."

The Toronto Sun newspaper ran an article with additional details of Korchinski-Paquet's final moments that were leaked to them from police sources.

The family had become outraged and delayed their interviews with the SIU over their concerns that a police campaign was underway to compromise the integrity of its investigation.

Family says woman yelled, 'Mom, help'

The family's lead counsel, Singh, said that when Toronto officers arrived on the building's 24th floor, they were met by Regis Korchinski-Paquet, her brother and her mother.

The Korchinski family told The Fifth Estate that her mother asked the police officers to take her daughter to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health for treatment.

Shortly after, Korchinski-Paquet entered her apartment to use the washroom. She was followed by several police officers.

Minutes later, her family claims they heard her yell, "Mom, help. Mom, help. Mom, help," three times.

The SIU director said he was unable to determine "whether these words were, in fact, uttered." He said the officers' microphones did not pick that up, nor did the officers say they heard such words.

"There is indication, however, that Ms. Korchinski-Paquet, while on the phone with her father, did ask him to help her," Martino said in his statement.

When family members tried to enter the apartment, they said an officer prevented them from entering.

They learned shortly after that Korchinski-Paquet had fallen from the balcony to her death.

I was actually surprised to see that the cbc was allowing comments on the story but happy to see that the overwhelming amount of support was for the report - most especially among those who bothered to read it, like I did.

This is the final report of the Inquiry

As the 911 calls were all recorded they can be taken as fact. They set the scene for what the police found when they arrived. The mother is identified here as CW #7

911 Call Recordings [3]

A total of five 911 calls were made between Ms. Korchinski-Paquet, and her mother and brother.

In the initial call, at 5:13 p.m., CW #7 said she needed the police at her home. When asked what the problem was, she said, “My son and daughter are fighting,” and that her daughter was throwing bottles at the time. Yelling was heard in the background. CW #7 said she only needed police to attend and said, “You can take them both the hell out of here. I can’t do it no more. I’m done,” and, “I want them both gone out of my ****ing house.”

At about this point in the recording, a second 911 call was received, this one from Ms. Korchinski-Paquet.

Still in the initial call, CW #7 again asked for the police to attend immediately. She maintained the open line while yelling was heard between a number of individuals. When the call-taker asked what was going on, CW #7 said, “Listen, my son and daughter are fighting and I can’t take it. I’m a [age]-year-old woman and I’m too small... My son and daughter. My house is all broke up. And I can’t do this no more and I won’t. Too old. I’m a [age]-year-old woman.”

CW #7 identified her children as Regis Korchinski-Paquet and CW #2.

While on the call, CW #7 yelled at someone, “Get out of my ****ing house,” “Never come back to my ****ing house. Never,” and, “You will never get back in my house. Ever.”

When asked if anyone was injured, CW #7 said, “Yea I guess somebody’s injured. I don’t know.” When asked if she needed an ambulance, CW #7 said, “I don’t know if I need an ambulance because I left my house. I can’t stand in there. I’m [age] years old.”

CW #7 also told the call-taker, “They got into an argue [sic] and all I know a fight broke out. They were just fighting and I - like I seen it too many times and I can’t deal with it no more.” When asked what they fought over, CW #7 said,
“My daughter had a seizure this morning and so this is how, basically, it all started. And he knows just to leave her alone. But now she’s calling me all kinds of names, calling me a bitch and everything else, right. So, I don’t want her -- I want the police to take -- literally take her out of my house. I don’t want her here. I don’t want no kids living in my house… Okay. She’s got to go tonight.”

When asked again if an ambulance was needed, CW #7 said, “I just want the both of them out of my house. I don’t want no contact with neither one of them again.”

When asked if anyone had weapons, CW #7 said,
“No, no weapons. But bottles were thrown, knives were pulled out, my -- punches in the face. All kinds of foolishness… I don’t know who treats people like this. Glass is all over in front of my door, they broke bottles. Like just no -- no respect. And -- neither one of them can stay here. I just want the police to come and I don’t care where you take either one of them but I don’t ever want them back here. None of them. I don’t care where they go to live but they’re not coming here. I’m done.”

Ms. Korchinski-Paquet placed the second 911 call. At 5:15 p.m., while her mother was on a separate 911 call, Ms. Korchinski-Paquet said she needed police to attend as she was being attacked. Panting, she said, “I can’t breathe,” and that her brother attacked her. She said she needed an ambulance to attend and yelled at someone, “You can’t get in you dumb ****.”

Shortly after the end of that call, a third 911 call was placed. CW #7 was still on her call when CW #2 called 911. He requested police attend as “there’s a physical altercation between me and my sister.” He said, “She initiated the assault with two knives, right. But I also did protect myself, right. So. But I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to stay right here.” He said he was in the stairwell while his mother was in the corridor and his sister was in the apartment with two knives and broken bottles. When asked if anyone was injured, he said he was but did not need an ambulance.

CW #2 said this was not the first time this occurred, and that they fought over the television volume being too loud. He said his sister had two epileptic seizures that day, and that they have to leave the apartment after she experiences seizures so she can calm down. On this day, she had not calmed when they returned.

He identified his sister as Regis Korchinski-Paquet and said he had taken the knives from her and throw them into the apartment before he exited. To the best of his knowledge, Ms. Korchinski-Paquet had the knives in the apartment.

When asked if Ms. Korchinski-Paquet had any mental issues, CW #2 said, “Not that she’s diagnosed with, no. Besides – besides the elepsy [sic], right. It’s a health condition.” When asked if anyone consumed alcohol or drugs, he said, “No. No. My sister has been smoking weed. That’s about it. Nobody else has. But she smokes weed because she’s epileptic, right. So, it’s not like she been doing it for, to get high or anything like that. She’s been doing it for pain, right.”

The fourth 911 call was received at 5:22 p.m. from Ms. Korchinski-Paquet while her brother was still on the third 911 call and her mother was on her initial call.

In her second 911 call, Ms. Korchinski-Paquet said, “I need to call the police. My mom just attacked me.” When asked if anyone needed an ambulance, Ms. Korchinski-Paquet said, “I’m not sure. I can’t even speak right now but my mother she just attacked me and so did my brother.” She said when she told her brother to turn off the television, he jumped up and started punching her in the head and choking her. When asked if any weapons were involved, Ms. Korchinski-Paquet said, “Yes. They – they – they pulled out knives.”

In response to an inquiry whether children were present, Ms. Korchinski-Paquet said there were as her brother just moved in with his children. With respect to whether anyone had been drinking alcohol or using drugs, she said, “Yes, my brother and my mother both have been drinking. They’ve been drinking all morning and smoking weed.” When asked about her own drug use, Ms. Korchinski-Paquet said she was only taking magnesium for her seizures. When asked if anyone was diagnosed with mental health issues, Ms. Korchinski-Paquet said, “Me. Yes. I have epilepsy.”

Ms. Korchinski-Paquet placed a fifth 911 call at 5:30 p.m. By this time, police were already on scene. She identified herself as Regis Korchinski-Paquet and said she was just attacked, punched and choked by her mother and brother, who had been drinking since 10:00 a.m. She said, “I need to pee. I have to piss,” before ending the call.

While on the call, CW #7 yelled at someone, “Get out of my ****ing house,” “Never come back to my ****ing house. Never,” and, “You will never get back in my house. Ever.”

Five of the six cruisers that responded to this incident were equipped with ICCS. [5] WO #1 and WO #4 were the only responding police officers who wore their activated ICCS-wireless microphones when they exited their cruisers.

Examination of the recordings revealed an episode of chaotic dialogue during which nothing resembling pleas for help were heard before a female voice, believed to be CW #7, asked, “What is she doing?” A male responded, “She went to the neighbour’s,” to which the same female said, “She can’t get to the neighbour’s.” A male, believed to be CW #2, then added, “It’s blocked off,” before CW #7 repeated that.

The dialogue suggested CW #7 was nearby and aware Ms. Korchinski-Paquet traversed the balcony railing and may have been attempting to access the neighbouring balcony.

After Ms. Korchinski-Paquet’s fate was known, CW #7 was heard on WO #1’s ICCS audio as she knocked at CW #10’s door saying, “[CW #10’s first name]. Regis jumped.” Later, she called her pastor and a relative to tell them of the death."

Navarro slams Canada in book interview: 'What's good about Canada?'
BY ZACK BUDRYK - 08/26/20

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro was sharply critical of Canadian policies toward the U.S. in interviews with CNN’s Jim Sciutto for Sciutto's new book, “The Madman Theory,” the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported.

In an interview, Navarro reportedly dismissed the idea that Canada is “doing us a favor” with its military presence in Afghanistan.

"Were they doing us a favor, or were they brought into the idea they needed to do that as part of the global effort against terrorists?" Navarro told Sciutto. "I mean, if they were just doing us a favor, maybe their government should have been thrown out of office. I mean, every time that a Canadian shows up in a uniform, it's doing us a favor? How's that work?"

Navarro also blasted the United States's northern neighbor on trade issues, accusing the country of serving as a way station for Chinese products that would otherwise be subject to stiff U.S. tariffs.

"What’s good about Canada?" he told Sciutto, according to the CBC. "It's like this blue-eyed brother kind of thing. It's just Canada. It has its own national interests and self-interests."

Leon Panetta, who served as Defense secretary and CIA director during the Obama administration, pushed back on Navarro’s characterization in an interview with CTV News. Trump, he said, “sends a strong signal that he is not a trustworthy member or a trustworthy ally, and that raises a lot of concerns with regards to those strong alliances that are critical to peace and prosperity.”

"Instead of an America that is a world leader, the rest of the world is looking at the United States as a rogue nation that cannot be trusted," Panetta added.

Navarro and other Trump administration figures have frequently blasted Canada on trade issues. In 2018, Navarro accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of “bad-faith diplomacy” and said there was a “special place in hell” for him at the Group of Seven summit in Quebec.

What else would you expect from a shyster lawyer and an entire family that appears to be mentally unbalanced. After cursing out her kids during the 911 call the mother went on to accuse the police of throwing her daughter off the balcony in spite of reports that there is video evidence of the woman simply trying to cross over to a neighbor's balcony, miscalculated and fell which witness testimony supports. Of course there will be no backlash against the family's erroneous comments considering the current climate that allows some people of color to say anything they want without a single shred of evidence to support same.
