Likely it's more about how the Catholic Church was corrupt (and didn't want to give certain Nobles *cough* what they wanted) and thus they left the church to form new ones where the leadership of the church - the Pope - wasn't going to be an issue.

Protestants are protesting against certain Catholic practices such as the crucifix and the worshipping of Mary, which Protestants see as idolatrous. Protestants also don't like the gaudy, extravagant interiors of Catholic churches and cathedrals. Protestants ones are more plain and bare.
There are about 1.2 billion Catholics and 800 million Protestants. Protestants comprise 37% of all Christians. The largest Protestant country is the USA, which has around 160 million Protestants.

Again, it was more about Power, NOT "Catholic's do this and we shouldn't".
My father is Anglican, which I see as Catholic Light. My mother is Baptist (not the wackadoodle Southern type) though as she said, she doesn't need some minister in front of her telling her how to worship God.
I don't really see any difference, though, between Catholics and Protestants, when you get to the meat of the religion. They all believe they have the one true way to God, and they don't, and the power of Men is more important than the worship of their God.
Protestants are protestants against various Catholic pracitices.
Another Catholic practice that Protestants protest against is the authority of the Pope.

Exactly. Because the Pope was head of the Church and thus had more power than Monarchs.
Monarchs were supposed to hold all the power, not some Church.
That's why England became a Protestant Land instead of staying Catholic.
But you don't know your own history, so....
Catholics consider the Pope to be the head of their church.
Protestants consider Jesus to be the head of theirs.
