Luis Arce set to win Bolivia presidential election, returning socialists to power

Conservative candidate Carlos Mesa, 2nd among voters, concedes election

Bolivia's socialists all but sealed a dramatic election comeback after their centrist rival Carlos Mesa conceded the vote on Monday, with several unofficial vote counts giving the Movement for Socialism party (MAS) of ousted leader Evo Morales an unassailable 20 percentage-point lead.
The win, still to be confirmed by the official count, would sweep the party of leftist Morales back into power a year after he was forced to resign following a fraught election that sparked widespread protests and violence.
The socialist MAS party's candidate Luis Arce, 57, took more than 50 per cent of the votes, rapid counts showed, and Mesa with about 30 per cent, a far larger gap than pollsters had predicted.

That's what happens when you don't have an educated populace. They're going to learn the hard way and end up like Venezuela. It won't happen over night but it's inevitable. Poor suckers!

It's gonna happen in the Western World too if the so-called "woke" don't actually wake the hell up.

Socialism isn't freedom. It wasn't freedom in the USSR and its satellite states. It wasn't freedom in Cuba, or Venezuela or Bolivia the first time around. Socialism is enslavement.

But, let's not get carried away either. Healthy countries need both capitalist and social systems. Capitalism builds things, but unchecked capitalism only serves the wealthy elite and their political lapdogs. Social programs help people but unchecked socialism is little more than being a serf to the govt while really only serving the political elite and their cronies.

All systems suck as soon as you add the human component. Look at communism. On paper it's the purest form of govt. In practice on a national level it has been anywhere from terrible to utterly disastrous.
The sub-prime mortgage scheme that f*cked up the global economy in 2008 looked great on paper. It was even computer modeled and looked great. Then the human component got added and all those predictions went straight out the friggin' window.

There's two big things that can save us but it takes the morons running the shit shows to do it. Although we could always force the issue if need be. 1) Get pure ideology out of govt legislation. If you wanna run shit based on personal beliefs, go start a goddam religion. 2) Get govt out of the back pockets of corporations and other big money lobbyists. What's the point in voting and calling it a democracy when govts only listen to big money and any special interest groups who are the flavour of the month?
