Voting for PCs or the NDP shows a smaller IQ

So voting Libtard shows zero IQ?

I'm getting so fed up with politics in general. Is there ANY hope for us out there?

Our society has become so selfish and mean, that there doesn't seem to be anyone out there that has any desire to run who has an ethical bone in their body. (Mind you, even if there was, who can blame them for not wanting to run?) Its a mean sport. And it seems everyone is in it for themselves. Or is it that they run with good intentions and then something happens to them? Seems that way. Obviously, the meanness needs to change as well. It will take someone with a strong sense of who they are, a willingness to compromise and demand the best in others and tolerate no BS.

Political correctness has also ruined discourse because, god forbid, you might say the wrong thing and "offend" someone. No one can say ANYTHING any more without total honesty. How sad is that?

Who will have the intestinal fortitude to tell people - look - pull up your boot straps and get to work - we'll help you if you help yourself but that's it.

We need someone who will stand up to the eco-extremists - (the David Suzuki's et al) who themselves leave large carbon foot prints on the planet but demand the rest of us to leave less; someone who will challenge (and charge big time) companies who damage and/or destroy the environment but also work WITH companies as is being done now by utilizing new technologies that help mitigate environmental damage.

Universities (and I know the U of A in particular) are working with industry, always looking at ways to make our energy development more sustainable. The Oil Sands aren't mining and processing the stuff the way they did 10 or even 5 years ago. They're much more efficient and environmentally friendly but you'd never know that by listening to the news.

I'm frustrated that our children aren't learning the 3 R's in school anymore; they're classroom experiments for various politically correct "theories" - learning practical stuff? No way - that's so "old school".

Is there ANYONE out there that can gain the trust of the population anymore? I don't see anyone right now and that's the scary part. What of our future and the future of our kids?

Ah, just one of those "ranting" mornings. Gotta go - but thanks for letting me get it out of my system!!

I get what you are saying but I'm not convinced a willingness to compromise is a good thing since the first thing politicians seem willing to compromise is their integrity, assuming they had any to start with.

Our education system is screwed largely because the people in charge are "educators". Meaning they have never done anything except school. They have a total disconnect from the real world. Also the best way for a bureaucrap to protect his/her job is to create more work.
And there have been some good changes in the education system such as trades training while in high school. It is just all the lefty touchy feely crap that has ruined things.

you had me right up until this part...you are dealing with people thus touchy feely crap is important...it's just that you have to strike a balance which neither the right nor the left seem capable of doing since they are more entrenched in making the other side seem wrong than they are in solving the problem...it's extreme views that are fuking things up. That what ruins everything. When we have evolved enough to compromise things will improve. Until we do that, we are all just a part of the problem.

It is part of it, but a very very small part. It is estimated to make up about 3% of the cost of energy.

The largest contributors to the extra costs tacked onto electricity bills has been guaranteed payments to Nuclear generators, gas generators, and hydro generators.

Yet is only 0.1% of the total energy produced in Ontario......not too cost effective?

Does throwing one party's BS back in their face absolve another party?

The Hydro Electric Power Commission of Ontario was formed in 1906 under Mowat (PC) to give Ontario industry an competitive advantage over American companies and provide power to the people at reasonable rates. The Harris destruction was just that.

What McGuilty's Liberals did was just as wrong - but then it wasn't Liberal propaganda I challenged. Both of them are money ahead of people parties and both of them deserve their own kicks in the behinds

Wind actually accounts for 3.4% of our electricity supply.

Regardless, you are just moving the goal posts. In reference to the Green Energy Act, you said "That's why your hydro bill is so high and going higher".

That is at best a misleading statement. It does account for a small part of the increase, but 97% of the increases are coming from elsewhere.

Nobody ever claimed that paying higher than market rates for alternative energy production was going to be price competitive with existing generation methods. The goal of the program was about more than just creating electricity in the cheapest way possible.

It's pretty much a guarantee that when the facts come out, the Cons are always in the wrong.

It's the same thing with Republicans.

There's the trick that's employed for short term gain. The fallout from said trick, and then the inevitable replacement government. It's why other governments usually have longer tails.

Northern Ontario,
There is no date on that site, but it looks extremely old.

It has Coal and Oil at 29% of our energy mix, which is very far from the current number. That would be what it was somewhere around the year 2000.

They have an infographic here.

Supply Mix | Nuclear Up Coal Down

A quick search during TV commercial has got me numbers from .5% to 3.5%.........who to believe.................................

Well, certainly not you, since you just tried to pass off extremely outdated numbers in your last post.

What exactly are you trying to argue now anyways?

Yes, we can all agree that 80 cents per kilowatt hour is expensive, but this program clearly isn't "the" reason that rates have gone up as much as they have.
