To be fair, a while back I worked for a door staff headed by Little old ladies "out on the desk", and that was regarded as one of the best run hotel bars security Vs gallonage in Ontario at the time.

So women can do it, but they have to realize why and WHEN a woman can be better, and when a man has to do HIS part of the job, then thing can go extremely well.

you don't have to be the best to be the leader.

probably the first thing you learn in the military is that the smartest guy in the room is irrelevant.

If it was always the best man getting the job they wouldn't keep rotating what branch of the service they come from.

Not to take anything away from the woman I hope she does well, but I'll bet she wasn't the "BEST".
Politically timed choices like this are seldom the best choice.

What evidence do you have that she wasn't the best?

This is a positive step towards cleaning up this organisation and restoring public confidence in it.

The military could sorely use a once over as well. Maybe a female CDS could put the entire sexual harassment and abuse situation to rest there as well.

The Old Boys Clubs need to be demolished.
Is that what you (pardon the exaggeration) think? Around the time the allegations against Patrick Brown came out, the Premier's office was notified by legal document that one of their high ranking cabinet ministers was being charged with sexual assault AND sexual abuse. So far, the only word about it that has come from the Premier's Office is a denial of any knowledge of any such legal communication.

Yep, because when women want to hang onto power, they'll happily throw their sisters under the bus. The Wynned Bag is certainly proving to be equal in that department.
So was Hillary. Here's a women who stayed with a sexual pervert, deviant, predator, whatever term you want to use, just to further her own political career. While she also verbally attacked the women that Bill bunted.

To put it bluntly, a woman in a position of power does not automatically equal a change in the status quo. If you think it does, you're a sexist.

And then there's Justin. Playing that feminist card for all it's worth despite the fact he's about as much of a feminist as Hoid is a supporter of Alberta oil.

Leaders are the result of public opinion not simply special interest druthers. How did some gals achieve their goal(s) on their own initiative, Hazel the former mayor of mississauga needed no mans' crutch, on the contrary she gave many guys lessons on how you get things done. We could use a gal like her in ottawa.
Gals given jobs on a patronizing basis will of course expect continued pandering, why strive to excel when merit is passe, thankfully I'm sure many gals will ignore justyns' handouts preferring to paddle their own canoe.

Where is the feeling of accomplishment for reaching one's goals when it is done not on one's own merit but rather by the fact that they were given a leg up simply due to an accident of birth. I have always paddled my own canoe and proudly continue to do so. Glad you to see you agree, 10larry.

Women executives, especially in situations that have tendency to become politically embattled, tend to surround themselves with protectors.. and flatterers.

They can excel in situations that are in a steady state and benefit from grass roots nurturing. That is not the RCMP. The same can be said of some especially weak male executives. Justin Trudeau comes to mind.

But aggressive, turbulent assignments require great confidence, forward vision and delegation.. the wherewithal to hire and trust talented expedition leaders and to give them the leeway to perform and the honesty to hold them accountable for their results.

Women will always be 'nesters'.. men will be 'hunter and providers'. No feminist sophistry will ever change that. Only fools and incompetents like Justin don't understand that.
