Now its politician...and we should hang a few of them (in front of the other politicians....that might straighten something out).

Yeesh...A potentially great opportunity to keep Canada Great has been turned into a cause for a lynch-mob on Parliament Hill.

Sorry but I don't see how public hangings will help anything. But that's me.

RE: Belinda Stronach appo

I don't know if it's a great opportunity for Canada, Sy. The last thing we really need is another corporatist in government.

It is an understandable development though. Martin said he'd welcome any socially progressive, fiscally conservative members of the CPC to his party a long time ago. It has been obvious for a long time that Stronach wasn't a good fit with the Conservatives though. She worked to reunite the party in an attempt to make it into the old PCs with slightly updated views. She lost that battle and ended up in a party that would regress to a fictional version of the 1950's instead.

I wonder if she would have bailed out sooner if it wasn't for her personal entanglements.

This talk of her being a traitor is all nonsense though. It is pretty obvious by the bile and vitriole coming from the right and her reported battles with Stephen Harper and his minions that the Conservative Party had no loyalty to her. Why should she have loyalty to it?

She walked the walk and talked the talk.

If she wanted change, surely she didn't expect it to happen in 1 year. I know she hasn't had a lot of political experience per say....but things don't happen overnight.

I don't remember it that way.

My point that it could be a good opportunity for Canada is mainly because I like a lot of things this budget plans to bring forth and with it's passing I think more good will come to Canada than any bad a single party does or has already done.

I completely aggree we don't need another corporatist in government, but at least with Belinda being a "star member" within the Liberals people will pay attention to what she has to say. She has to be very careful about what she says and how she votes from now on or else a lynch-mob may just come gunning for her sooner than we think.

Sure, if you want to live 200years ago...I'm more partial to modern modes of ethics though...

I agree that guillotines get messy and gummed up.

It's a fact of life in politics. A lot of New Democrats are still pissed off at Dosanj too. I don't see the point, personally. He decided to join the Liberals and his reasons for doing so were complex. So were Scott Brison's. So are Belinda Stronach's.

Especially the C-48 part.

She'll vote with the party. That had some part in her gaining a ministership too, no doubt. Ministers are required to vote with the party.
