Coastal gaslink rejected a pipeline route proposed by hereditary chiefs because it would cost too much.

I wonder how many billions of dollars the people of Ontario are on the hook for at this point over a pipeline that has nothing to do with them.

I know BC is getting crushed by it.

Running this country for the sake of oil and gas companies has to stop.
Again, you're an idiot.
The letter — dated Aug. 21, 2014 — also outlines reasons Coastal GasLink rejected the route, including:

  • It would increase the pipeline's length by as much as 89 kilometres, upping both the environmental impact and as much as $800 million in capital costs.
  • The pipeline's diameter, at 48 inches (121 cm), is too large to safely be installed along the route. (Pacific Northern's pipeline is between 10 and 12 inches (25-30 cm), and the proposed upgrade would be 24 inches or 60 cm.)
  • The McDonnell Lake route would be closer to the urban B.C. communities of Smithers, Houston, Terrace and Kitimat.
  • Re-routing the pipeline would impact an additional four First Nations who had not already been consulted by Coastal GasLink, which would add up to one year of delays to the construction process.
Those same reasons were laid out in the B.C. Supreme Court injunction issued Dec. 31, 2019, which allowed Coastal GasLink to proceed with construction of the pipeline.

But yeah, to f*ck with the rule of law, right? Who needs laws when you have your idiotic, dehumanizing ideology to justify acting like a f*cking little child.

F*ck that. They should be federally charged with interfering in inter-provincial and national commerce. But of course as we all know, the Groper govt has a serious lack of balls and will simply consider it their "right" to protest.
And by the way. CALLLLLLLLED IT!!!

"As researcher Vivian Krause has detailed over the years, environmental groups in Canada have received millions from U.S. philanthropic groups like the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and Tides Foundation."

A good deal of that funding was part of the Tar Sands campaign launched in 2008. According to Krause, of $40 million doled out to environmental groups by the Tides Foundation and Tides Canada since 2009, $25 million was for anti-pipeline activities.

The Tar Sands campaign's stated aim was to limit the growth of Alberta's oilsands by halting pipeline and refinery projects, and raising the cost of oilsands production to make it uneconomic."

""Here's the reality: anti-energy activists have long been funded not only by foreign money, but also by Canadian governments and companies in Canada's energy sector," Milke wrote in an opinion piece in October 2018."

"That is one of the problems in Canada - a lack of transparency on funding sources for non-governmental organizations, regardless of their political stripe. Unlike their counterparts in the U.S., Canadian non-profits are not required to disclose funding sources or spending details."

So the question is why are they allowed charitable status in Canada at all? Why are we allowing foreigners to tear down our economy? Where are our politicians who should be defending our economy and our right to determination? This is absolutely disgusting and we should all be outraged that this is allowed to happen. We have nothing but cowards in Ottawa and we willing elect these clowns to represent us. Why are we so determined to destroy ourselves from within?

.

Why is Ottawa or Ont. on the hook for any of it? It's private not public company like TMX, unless the protestors are participating in the sponsor employment programs that the Libs. got caught offering a couple of years ago?

Northern Ontario,
I wonder why nobody got the bright idea of anonymously calling in a bomb scare for the area that they are picketing...
The police would have to respond and clear the area!

I hope someone takes a cue from the Charlottesville protests three years ago:

Well I personally wouldn't do that myself, but I wouldn't think badly of the fella that did it..

I hope they don't, Girth. As pissed off as I am about these ignorant thugs on the blockades, I would much rather see them left to stew in their own juices when the media finally decides that their interference in this mess is fueling the punks and refuses to attend anymore of the blockades. That would send a message to the mobs.

How ya reckon Sports fan? If it's only Alberta that leaves, then 3 of the four directions for pipelines would run through Canada.
If Alberta and or Saskatchewan leave Canada folds into three or four entities .

Nice Cherry Picking. From your own LINK above from the Communist Broadcasting Corporation:

  • It would increase the pipeline's length by as much as 89 kilometres, upping both the environmental impact and as much as $800 million in capital costs.
  • The pipeline's diameter, at 48 inches (121 cm), is too large to safely be installed along the route. (Pacific Northern's pipeline is between 10 and 12 inches (25-30 cm), and the proposed upgrade would be 24 inches or 60 cm.)

The route decided upon by this company does not make it responsible for the illegal actions of criminals in eastern Canada or elsewhere. What's happening in Ontario actually has little to nothing to do with this pipeline route and I'm fairly certain the majority of the people illegally blockading railways and highways and intersections and commuter trains in Ontario would be hard pressed to find the Reservation they're claiming to be protesting for on a map let alone have read or understand the issues surrounding it. Outside of a few (not all) of the Hereditary Chiefs (=not elected representatives of the Band) from this Wet'suwet'en Rez....how many Band Members (on a %'age basis) do you think are in favor of these protests on thier doorstep let along in their name (not that they've asked for this) wherever someone chooses to break the law over their own causes using the Wet'suwet'en name to justify their own domestic terrorism and leaving law enforcement too afraid to enforce the law and do their jobs over concern of optics???

The trains are stopped in Ontario because they wouldn't go for the more expensive route that the hereditary chiefs said they were ok with

they didn't figure that cost in.

No, the trains are stopped in Ontario because those doing so are getting away with it. Full Stop! That's what we're seeing.

They are stopped because yet another pipeline is being forced on people.

ALL 20 of the Reservations along this approved route approved this route, including the Wet'suwet'en Band through their ELECTED Band Council & Chief (Elected by the Band members themselves).

Some, not all but some, of the Herititary Chiefs of ONE Rez along the route aren't happy enough that thier pockets won't be lined enough (& Screw their own people) so their through proxies (almost none of the protestors in BC are even Native let along from the Wet'suwet'en Band). Are in from all over Hells 1/2 acre (many from Ontario, a handful from the US or Vancouver, etc...) causing shit. How is this "because another pipeline is being forced on people?"

All they have to do is cancel that project and the trains can run on time.
