You'd kinda think so, yeah.

The media is doing trudeau a disservice by keeping this in the limelight in that the questions in the ADs are real and all this attention only them in the minds of Joe Q Public.

The purpose of an attack ad is to negatively influence the public perception of your opponent.

Sure it does, but in this case, there is no speculative factor here - it's based entirely on who trudeau is from an experiential standpoint

A failed attack ad negatively influences the public perception of the party that bought the ad.

It's fair to say that those that hold a negative opinion of the Cons because of these ADs would never have voted Conservative anyhow

All this hype about just-in. I bet you couldn't fill a taxi with just-in supporters west of Ontario. Probably not east of Quebec either.

And I bet he's got a shxtload of supporters from the Bloc and other separatists.
Plus all the hippy lady's that loved Pierre, and have voted NDP for the last 25 years.
They all just switched their vote back to liberal. No word of a lie. That fast.

So that pretty much guaranties him Ontario.

Harper is helping him win Quebec with his attack ad. Duh!

Quebec + Ontario = majority government
Case and point.

Seems to me, some people left their thinking caps in someone else's house. If Justin hasn't got a chance, why spend money on attack adds? If those who support attack ads are going to vote for the cons anyway, why waste money slagging a loser? Since its more than 2 years until an election call, why are we even seeing election ads at all? Has Harpo taken a page from the endless electioneering from his heroes to the south? If the cons on here really think Justin is a loser, why are you even talking about it? Seems to me some are not being honest even to themselves.

Maybe he is actually scared of Junior. Or maybe he is just trying out ChRETIeN's tactics. Or maybe he's just goading Junior into showing he can be just like CHRETIeN or Martin. Best ask him rather than us.

My guess would be because the Liberals just elected a new leader, so rather than leave it to the Liberals to shape a narrative unimpeded around that, the Conservatives have gotten in a narrative of their own. Nowhere in the "rules" does it say that just because your opponent is high on election-type hype, you can't get in a jab of your own.

Good point.

Case in Point?
Really? Hippy ladies?
Seems a tad simplistic to me.

Quebec is unfathomable.
The BQ will pick up steam by next election.
Some of the Dipper kiddies are working their a$$es of in rural ridings.
Mulcair is politically plugging fortress Quebec to try and lock in his ridings.
The few Con ridings will probably hold because they are anglo and care about business
The rest is all over the map.

Ontario is in serious play.
Provincially the Horwath/Wynne train wreck is unfolding in slow motion.
The public debt in Ontario is going through the roof and really the only people who seem to be pulling strings right now are the Dips.
And the only people who are going to benefit Federally out of this unfolding Provincial fiscal disaster are the Cons.
It's pretty much a sure thing that there will be a Provincial election in Ontario in the next year or so.
Followed by multiple ehealth, orange, green power and gas plant investigations.
All at the Provincial Lib doorstep.
Right in time for a Fed election.
And all that will matter Federally.
Big time.

So there is that.
So a slightly offensive Justin attack ad gets run.
Big deal.
Get ready for 2 1/2 more years of those.

And now Justin is sucking up to Allison Redford in Alberta.
Backing the pipelines.
Trying to present himself as a fiscally Conservative option that is pro resource development.
To try and split off and seperate some of the Con vote.

Case in point? Hippy ladies?
I think not.

The long game is just warming up.
Political theatre really is the best theatre.
Because it's real.

So did Kim Campbell's Chretien ad. It's true, Chertien suffered from partial paralysis. Didn't help their case though. That ad was disastrous for Campbell.

Really? Does that go for the all the Conservative MPs that want nothing to do with the ad? They won't be voting Conservative?

The 2 scenarios are entirely different. Besides, Campbell was the sacrificial lamb for the Cons. She got in at the end of the Conservative self-destruct cycle

Intra-party rifts exist all the time and within all parties. If those Con MPs don't like the direction the party is going, they are free to jump ship at any time, including what party they want to represent in an election
