He probably opened a facebook account this afternoon.
and is sitting watching the whole thing unfold, posting up a storm

it is bizarre, how did he get in and how did he get out? He was dressed in olive fatigues and has grey sideburns... That narrows it down a few million.

Brought the clothes in- changed at work? If there was a second gunman.

maybe, but it doesn't seem like they know who he is and now they say there could also be yet another suspect...

the woman who was shot in the head and the hand is fine, it didn't penetrate the skull she will go home later

the cop shot multiple times in the legs has come out of surgery but they don't know if he will ever walk again...

And some people say America doesn't have a gun problem? One thing that bothers me about these US shoot-ups is most Canadians don't know enough about guns and Canada's gun culture to know that we do not have a gun problem. Unfortunately these shootings eventually come back to haunt us here in Canada through the media. America and its gun industry is sick.

Peter Mansbridge on The National is comparing today's shooting to the mass killing of women and children in the Connecticut school last December. He also compared it to the shooting at the army base in Fort Worth, Texas. Interestingly the death toll from the DC Navy Yard today and the army psychiatrist at Fort Worth is 13 for each.

DC has the strongest gun laws in the United States.. Only if someone had a concealed weapon might the death toll be far less than the 12 murdered.

Very doubtful. It would probably be worse. This suggestion occasionally pops up from extremists after shootings. Think it through.

There has just been a shooting. Fear and probably panic are everywhere. People are trying to flee in every direction. Nobody has a clear and complete picture of what is happening. Nobody knows who are the bad guys and how many there are. Now a bunch of vigilantes shows up to add their gunfire to the milieu. They have no way of knowing who is involved or why. They have no established team structure, tactics and leader. When the police show up what do they see? How do they distinguish between good guy and bad guy? In a general gunfight who is responsible for protecting the public? How much chance do police have of catching the first shooters? Who knows which bystanders are shot by whom? When a good guy arrives at the scene with his gun drawn who does he shoot at first?

If the cops dig a bullet out of an innocent bystander and it comes from the gun of a vigilante, should he get away with the shooting? In a rule of law country the state has a monopoly on the legitimate use of force. No reasonable person wants armed total strangers butting into a shooting and turning it into a general fire fight. It sounds more like a childish wish to play cowboy with other peoples' lives and futures. Canada doesn't need or want mass gunfights. We can catch enough on US tv and news.
