Hey, not to alarm anyone but that teensy-weensy border dispute between those two teensy-weensy nuclear armed states may be headed for a teensy-weensy little war

NEW DELHI, India — Five Indian soldiers and one Pakistani civilian lie dead, victims of skirmishes on the disputed Kashmir border.

But the real target of the violence may well be Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, as Pakistan's military and intelligence services try to thwart the newly elected leader's aspirations for peace with India.

“The intention here is to sabotage the peace process,” said Michael Kugelman, an expert on South Asia affiliated with the Woodrow Wilson Center.

There has been skirmishes since day one when the border was drawn. Same goes for Nepalese border where Buddhist terrorists have been blowing sh*t up for quite sometime as well.

The site of the Bodhi tree was attacked bombed about a month ago.

India is bending over backwards to prevent a war.

As Afghanistan endgame looms, India-Pakistan tensions rise

(Reuters) - Pakistan-based militants are preparing to take on India across the subcontinent once Western troops leave Afghanistan next year, several sources say, raising the risk of a dramatic spike in tensions between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan.

Intelligence sources in India believe that a botched suicide bombing of an Indian consulate in Afghanistan, which was followed within days last week by a lethal cross-border ambush on Indian soldiers in disputed Kashmir, suggest that the new campaign by Islamic militants may already be underway.

Members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit in Pakistan, the group blamed for the 2008 commando-style raid on Mumbai that killed 166 people, told Reuters they were preparing to take the fight to India once again, this time across the region.

They have no choice. Either bend over backwards or lose their energy supply. What would you do?
What energy are you referring to. There is the proposed line thru Afghanistan.
If it was not for nukes India would have gone to war a few years back.

It is not fully built is it?

Nope. Not the TAPI.

NEW DELHI--India's federal cabinet approved the formation of a company that will build a multibillion-dollar trans-Afghanistan pipeline project to bring in natural gas from Turkmenistan.

Thursday's decision takes the estimated $7.6 billion project one step closer to being built. Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India have been holding discussions for more than two decades on building the 1,800-kilometer pipeline, commonly referred to as the TAPI pipeline.

In a statement, the cabinet said it was also allowing GAIL (India) Ltd. 532155.BY +1.92% to join the company, which will be known as TAPI Ltd. The three other countries in the partnership have already approved the company's formation, the cabinet said.

TAPI Ltd. would undertake feasibility studies and prepare the project report with the target of making the pipeline operational by 2018.

Gas/oil/electricity. Without co-operation both are screwed when it comes to energy for industrial growth. Pakistan needs electricity badly and India need the gas. They won't be going to war.

Pakistan has 4 major tribal areas-and they could eventually all split off.
Then the question arises- who really runs the place?
Pakistan created terror groups that have come back to bite the hand that fed them- and still does.
The attack in Mumbai was coordinated by the ISA.

Kashmir is another flashpoint.
Never say never.

Read over the cold war and how close it came on a number of occasions.
And then each was not dealing with crazies.

Iran is a big part of the picture too. You'd almost think somebody was trying to stop them from being a major supplier to both Pakistan and India by fabricating a bunch of BS.

We've seen what trying to stop NG flowing to Italy and pipelines to Spain through N. Africa did for Libya and now we're seeing what Syria is going through due to trying to stop Israeli gas from flowing.

Do you still believe in the boogieman?

The Stans are diversifying their gas pipelines and customers- they cut Gazprom out where they were losing big money as the Russians were reselling it to the EU.
The line from Turkmenistan to Turkey is one. It will supply Georgia, Turkey and others in the EU.

The Stans- Turkmenistan, Kaz, Uzbec, Aber, all want the gas out. And it will flow to China, India (??) and the EU.
Russia has signed long term gas deals with China and If I recall another big line is being built.

The N African countries, as well as Israel, Lebanon and Cyprus all want in on the action too.

None of the unrest is because of some Muzzie boogieman, it's all about energy and getting that energy to markets. Yes Russia and China have inked deals which S. Korea and Japan want in on as well but since both are US friendly and have massive US industrial ownership, they use N Korea to keep them out of the Russian gas supply.

How do they do that. Russians will sell to anyone with cash. Japan is trying to set a differing price (lower, much lower)on Cdn gas from the LNG plants starting up in BC, due to the glut in NA.

Personally, I think that when Pakistan and India go to war it will be over water which is fast becoming a scarce commodity in both countries.

The friction began in 1947 and has continued to this day.
There is no side to take here both sides have gone out
of their way to provoke each other at one time or another.
