Ann Coulter's latest foot-in-mouth

Did anyone see the interview CBC had with her? She was slamming us for not going to Iraq, and brought up the fact that Canada went to Vietnam with the Americans. When informed by the reporter that Canada was not involved in that war, she was quite sure we were. When the reporter again said no, she said that perhaps she should check into that. It's true that Canadians served in the war, but not under the banner of the CF. I'd say theres probably lots she should look into before blurting out mental farts.

I am still out on Ann Coulter - to have all those brains and use them for such cruelty seems a waste - but it makes her portfolio bulge - yet she seems empty. I would not want to be Ann Coulter - even though I would enjoy having her brains - but they seem to hold her back from enjoying real life.

Regarding her physical attributes - Although I have no proof, I think Ann has Marfan's Syndrome - but as she has not disclosed it - or perhaps has a mild case - she may not realize and if she has none of the terrible symptoms of the disease, could be only exhibiting physical 'strangeness' such as elongated neck, fingers, torso, legs, etc. Still I would be surprised if her own doctor had not tested her simply because of the length of her neck and hands....

hmm... I'd never really thought about it Curio, you may be right. It's highly rare, but especially so in women isn't it? I had always thought it was a strictly male thing. But then, many things that are attributed mainly to males seem to crop up more and more in women these days. Ankylosing spondylitis is one that jumps readily to mind as it's touched my family.

Well according to the great tome of internet knowledge, it is a roughly even split amongst the genders.

When you have it, there is a 50/50 shot of passing it on to your kid(s) due to the genetic dominance it exerts. And further, 15-30 of all cases are due to the random nature of changing base pairs(duplications, deletions and inversion.)

Thanks for accepting what I said - I hate to mention it after what happened once before.

I met another woman who corresponded with me back and forth about her disease - her son also has it - and found her ( and her son as well) to be gifted with high IQ, many physical disabilities, bone and ligament issues, eyesight problems and a host of other seemingly unrelated things.

When I first saw Coulter I was taken by her very long neck, and then when she had her hands at rest on the podium during her interview - her the longbones of her arm were really long as were her fingers.

I still don't know that much about Marfan's and hope that is not the case - but only that she inherited a very elongated bone structure from another family member.

I don't think what Gopher said qualifies as Reductio ad Hitlerem. Striving for perfection is not necessarilly a bad thing, it is when it involves a focussed effort to either wipe out, or convert a group to your way of thinking. Not only does she think they should be converted, she says America would be a better place if there were less Jews. Maybe she doesn't realize just how similar that stance is to that of the Aryan Brotherhood. In this case the comparison of Nazis and Coulter's statements are correct.

I think Ann is getting a hard time here because she doesn’t speak in youthanisms. If someone believes that Christianity is a superior value system then why wouldn’t they believe the world would be a better place if more people shared that value system.

Believing that it would be a good thing if more people would practice Cristianity is far different then a mass genocide or inqistion of those that don’t. I don’t share Ans view that Crhistians have a superior ethic but why are we singling Ann out when just about any person in every relegion believes their releigion is the one relleion, the right relegion and the superior relegion. I detest people who attack the character of others rather then chalange their ideas. I strongly believe this is a case of Reductio ad Hitlerem and I think it is a week line of reasoning and thinking.

I could care less about her Christian ethics or lack of them. I do take exception to the bull she is spewing presently about invading us militarily.

The problem with Coulter isn't the fact she is a twit who makes things up on a regular basis and is about as intolerant as they come, it's the fact she probally has millions of readers nodding in agreement with her.

there are still enough dimwits out there that support the crazy republicans. Some clods recently started a movement to get Cheney and Bush reinstated for another term based on the idea that there were no competent presidential candidates.
Ann is not on the fringe but very much ensconced in the public eye. People do listen to her and even respect her views and ideologies.

Believing your religion is the best is one thing. Saying that your country would be better off if all citizens were the same religion is small-minded, and I don't think most people believe that. We can bring up many cases where moral superiority breeds hateful monsters. Gopher wasn't even suggesting she's evil because she said something like Hitler believed. She believes an ideal that is accepted as a hateful ideal, and that is what is wrong, not simply because it is similar to Hitler. That they both have similar evil thoughts is the comparison, and not a logical fallacy at all. "Well Hitler said the same thing, so she must be evil", is not the same as, "Hitler and Ann Coulter share similar evil rants."

Shes a bigot, admittedly intolerant and speaks with a heavy note of polemics. Very similar to heir Fuhrer. Only she knows the boundaries. While Hitler actually acted on those, she only profits from them.

Tonington in the best possible world what you are saying is true but America like a lot of Islamic countries has basically built up its entire way of life based on religion. You can see similar in places in Alberta which reflect this mindset.
There is a move towards less secular forms of gov in the states but as long as the religious nuts have the money then they also have the clout.
Christians who spout that shooting gay people, Muslims, black people, drug addicts etc is okay can be found in great numbers in the united states.

That's one of the problems with having such a huge population as the US does... any nut job minority is also in high numbers. It DOESN'T mean however, that they are the norm.

Well I broke down and watched the interview, only to discover that Coulter's comments were entirely unremarkable. Donny Deutsch came across looking like the bigger idiot by far.
