"Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says children are dead after shooting at Catholic school
“Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now,” Frey said at a press conference outside the school. “These kids were literally praying. It was the first week of school. They were in a church.”"

And the saddest of all... no one gives a damn anymore.

It's just another Wednesday.

And the most popular long gun in the U.S. is the AR-15, a purpose-designed mankiller.
What is an AR-15?

An AR-15 is a lightweight, magazine-fed, gas-operated semi-automatic rifle based on a 1950s ArmaLite design. The "AR" in AR-15 stands for "ArmaLite Rifle," not "assault rifle". These rifles are highly modular, allowing for extensive customization, and are popular in the United States for hunting, sport shooting, and home defense.

The last three words above are enough to have that banned in Canada.🙁. We do not have the castle law up here, as seen by that recent case in Lindsay Ontario, where a father defended his home in the middle of the night from somebody who broke in through his daughter’s bedroom window, with a crossbow (the guy breaking in had the crossbow), and the father got charged along with the guy who broke in. Good times. This probably deserves its own thread.

The AR-15 was part of a competition between Colt Firearms and Ruger Firearms to provide the Army a new standard rifle to replace the M14 of the Korean War. Ruger produced the "mini-14," a smaller, lighter version of the M14, but lost to Colt's Armalite design. The military rifle, which has a selectable full-automatic setting, was designated the M16, and served throughout the Vietnam War, and is still the basic design of the current U.S. military rifle, the M4.

The "castle doctrine" is a matter of state law, and varies from state to state. For example, in Maryland and many other states, one can only use deadly force in in-home self defense if no safe exit is possible. This is called the "duty to retreat."

It's not as bad as it seems. Usually, if the intruder is armed, the court will presume that no safe retreat was possible.

Me, I adhere to the "I'd rather be tried by twelve than carried by six" doctrine.

I started a thread about this, so it’s not the sidetrack this thread.

How many do you have ? Maybe you prefer pistols and don’t carry long guns , but if you do , how many ?
I don't like the AR action. My rifle has the P90 action. I also have four handguns and my "fun gun," a carbine that's a pistol with an extended barrel and a folding stock in 5.7mm. It's my fun gun cuz the mag holds 50.

I cut down a couple of years ago.
