Mostly that's what we get these days, from either side, don't you think? I think it comes, in part, of people being so polarized, maybe? It's more than that, though. It's everywhere, this need to distort and exaggerate, and we are exposed to it in every aspect of our lives, a sort of dramatic over-statement about everything. Have you noticed this?

Yes Haggis I have noticed this. I don't have a problem with revising history when new evidence comes to light, however, when historians seek to re-write history based on essential ommissions or misinformation, they receive no sympathy from me.

Haggis I read it a while ago and and had not the slightest idea that the man was a communist, I just thought he was a marvelous human being with deep insight and great love for his country.

Only when there are alterior motives, like Zinn's article. And I am very particular when it comes to history, for example, regarding the War of 1812, I have read “The War of 1812: The War that Both Sides Won” by Wesley Turner and "The War of 1812: A Forgotten Conflict" by Donald R. Hickey to get varying perpespectives. History should not be revised for political reasons, that's unacceptable in my view.
