Mostly that's what we get these days, from either side, don't you think? I think it comes, in part, of people being so polarized, maybe? It's more than that, though. It's everywhere, this need to distort and exaggerate, and we are exposed to it in every aspect of our lives, a sort of dramatic over-statement about everything. Have you noticed this?

Even around here? :p

Yes Haggis I have noticed this. I don't have a problem with revising history when new evidence comes to light, however, when historians seek to re-write history based on essential ommissions or misinformation, they receive no sympathy from me.

Haggis I read it a while ago and and had not the slightest idea that the man was a communist, I just thought he was a marvelous human being with deep insight and great love for his country.

Yes, sure you thought that, your all for people with a great love for their country, we know this from your posts....

the prick who wrote the wilkepedia article is a right wing fascist-- blow hole

Can't argue with that, but can't it be said that most, if not all, written history is a collection of omissions and misinformation, to some degree?

Zinn speaks to ITNs disease, many reading citizens of the world know more about American history than many Americans do, this is sad.

Your challenging ITN's knowledge of American history?

You are an appendage of ITN, one wonders which part of his virtual anatomy you are attached to, you applaude ITN's store of historical fact but do you have any personal awareness of your own, I think not.
ITN is ITN his words speak for him and about him, you however are a common camp follower, a groupie. ITN has four computers which he uses to good affect but that does not afford him correctness, only cheap speed.

Thats lovely DB....I'm glad your back to your old self so quickly after falling down the stairs.

Yes DB, I'm ITN's dick, but be careful or I just might urge the man to come over there and ram it down your throat.

Yes DB I have an awareness of Canadian history...I even have an idea about how our economy and laws work, don't sweat it my good friend....you have enough trouble as it is.

You are crazy do you know how rediculous it is to threaten me with someone elses pecker, I hardly think ITN is going to allow you that much familiarity, friend or not I think he would object, I hope.

Why is that DarkBeaver? Because he claims for over 100 years American governments have been blowing up its own people as a catalyst to war to rile up the population? Is that why he has a deep love for his country? BULLSHIT! The truth is, he fits your bias, hence he must be right.

Wikipedia is your friend:

Howard Zinn (born August 24, 1922) is a U.S. historian and political scientist. His philosophy incorporates ideas from Marxism, anarchism, socialism, and social democracy. Since the 1960s, he has been an important figure in the Civil Rights and anti-war movements in the United States. [1] He is the author of 20 books, including A People's History of the United States.

The truth is ITN that you can't handle the truth, to suggest that Howard Zinn has lied all the way through his career is sad,
I have great respect for him and many other Americans, I have only pity for you. You sir are a fanatic, a blooming bomber.

Only when there are alterior motives, like Zinn's article. And I am very particular when it comes to history, for example, regarding the War of 1812, I have read “The War of 1812: The War that Both Sides Won” by Wesley Turner and "The War of 1812: A Forgotten Conflict" by Donald R. Hickey to get varying perpespectives. History should not be revised for political reasons, that's unacceptable in my view.
