Gosh, am I relieved and glad to know, that it is the bush administration we both condemn..... as it is not the Americans that should be condemned. Reality is *very unfortunately) that by re-selecting him.....it kinda spoke of the American population. just the way it works .
One simply has to differentiate between the insane gov't, the population, the real positives of the US along with the negatives. Things get off balance too quickly.
Ya see, it is Bush and the Iraq invasion that has turned things so sour for the US. One bad move can erase a lot of previous good. But I have faith in the American people to eventually do what is the honorable thing, and if my faith is illfounded, that too will speak for itself.
I hear you Ocean, but I have to give you my opinion to be clear. I didn't vote for the bastard, I find him to be dangerous. However, leaving Iraq now, is worse than invading it. We cannot and should not leave, until the mess created is fixed, at whatever cost and time it takes. Thats our burden.
One thing I want to say to you, you will find a great many Americans can oppose the war but support the troops and sometimes it is misinterpreted as being war mongers. Who the hell wants to send their sons and daughters to be killed half way around the world? Not me, not Americans, not any people of any country.
Now, Canada didn't participate in the war. You may have heard many of my countrymen fling cheap shots for this. I for one was glad Canada didn't, hurt, but glad, and I say hurt, because many Americans regard Canadians to be a brother nation. When you hear some Americans say Canada is an extension of the US, it is perceived by some to mean, we "own" you. Some mean it that way, lets face it, idiocy transcends borders, but most see Canadians as a brother nation.
Back to the issue, I think Saddam Hussein was a threat, not for WMD's, now, but someday. Bush boy screwed up, he didn't allow more time and didn't handle diplomacy the way he should have, some will say he had guts and resolve, bullshit, he's arrogant in my opinion and has no sense of war, how people suffer in war. I dont pretend to understand, but I served in the army and have a pretty good idea. My opinion is he should be impeached, the problem with that is Cheney is no better.
One good thing Bush has done, he's forced people to alienate themselves from extreme right or left and have fallen more center lately. Once the Bush era is gone, we need to rebuild and think carefully what we have lost and what we have gained.
And one last comment, the world isn't black and white and their isn't one big evil force manipulating everyone and everything.
