Yup, the Conservatives here have never really been conservative when it comes to fiscal matters. With the exception of Ralph Klein (who was liberal) they've been spending money like drunken sailors and have very little to show for it. Yet people keep looking the other way when it comes to crooked dealings and shafting taxpayers because "we have no alternative". I don't believe it. While I'm not a big fan of the other parties, they could hardly do worse and by not punting the conservatives we are, in effect, saying that corruption is quite alright.

Not surprising really that you would make such a silly comment. Is the topic a little over your head?

Don't bet on it. We had 10 years of dipper mismanagement in BC over a decade ago and we are still suffering the after shocks.

That's BC though. You guys just seem to have a tough time managing yourselves regardless who is in powers. Look at a place like Manitoba that has continually bounced back and forth between PC and NDP governments and things seem to transition quite easily. I'd rather live under a Manitoba dipper government than any BC government.

No, I don't drink every day. Why would you consider asking you a question, insulting? Are you really that thin skinned?

I am sure you drink every day. Please note I do not recall stating I drink alcohol every day, now have I?
Now what was your point about making assumptions??
Please note the question marks.

Considering we've had this discussion numerous times, you are well aware of the fact that my question was in regards to alcohol and that is why you found it insulting....or do you find me asking you if you drink water insulting? Are you sober this morning?

The Wild Rose Party? You can't be serious.
Wild Rose is a collection of ultra conservative misfits.
They want to wander back to some simpler time that
never existed You want to see a hell of a mess give
them power for four years and see what happens

Aren't they just a variation of the Reform Party?

I don't vote conservative but in terms of government Redford has not done a bad job
that I have to admit, she also put another Premier in her place when it came to how
the money was going to be divided. She has done better than most.
Ralph Cline there was a piece of work, like Ford he was a drunk and in my view was
not that great a Premier.

Can't quite agree about Klein. He was down to earth unlike Rob Ford. He stood up for the working man but didn't take any crap from Unions and had a firm hand on the public purse. He also didn't back away from decisions. He's what we need in B.C.

Former Alberta premier Alison Redford’s ill-conceived anti-union project is in shambles tonight, with an agreement to send two bills attacking public sector pensions to a legislative committee where they can die with dignity.

With the car in the ditch, wheels spinning and headlights pointed skyward, the Progressive Conservative government of Premier pro tempore Dave Hancock agreed this afternoon to send the two controversial pension bills to the committee, which is supposed to report back in the fall.

If sanity prevails within the PC caucus and the party remains mired at current levels of unpopularity, it seems likely this will lead to the eventual demise of both Bill 9, the Public Sector Pension Plans Amendment Act, 2014, and Bill 10, the Employment Pension (Private Sector) Plans Amendment Act, 2014.

The agreement by Mr. Hancock’s PC government and all three Opposition parties also suggests the repudiation by Mr. Hancock personally of the radical program attacking public service unions and employees that emerged unexpectedly in the second year of the leadership of fired premier Redford, who finally reappeared in the Legislature today.

This is not to say the Tory caucus does not remain deeply divided over the issue, with cabinet members like Finance Minister Doug Horner and Labour Minister Thomas Lukaszuk likely content with the idea of a major fight over pensions while other caucus members deeply fear the potential fallout.

Tory heir apparent Jim Prentice, meanwhile, is said to want nothing to do with someone else’s bonehead fight. But who knows? Mere Alberta voters are seldom consulted in such matters.

Some knowledgeable observers suggest the development means the PCs will move quickly to end the agony of the current Legislative sitting.

As for the Opposition, despite major differences of philosophy and policy, the Wildrose Party, the New Democrats and the Alberta Liberals all opposed the bills and promised to repeal them if elected.

Canada's own Marie Antoinette

Alberta taxpayers were billed $150,000 just for design concepts on a planned penthouse for former premier Alison Redford, show documents tabled this week in the legislature.

The total bill for all consulting work on the suite, dubbed the “sky palace” by the opposition and media, was just over $173,000.

The documents were tabled Tuesday by former Infrastructure minister Ric McIver.

There has been confusion over who killed the penthouse project. Wayne Drysdale, the current Transportation Minister but Infrastructure minister at the time, has said he thought he cancelled the project in late 2012.

Drysdale, ironically, is now Infrastructure Minister again. McIver resigned from cabinet Tuesday to announce Wednesday he will run in the PC party leadership race to replace Redford.

Opponents have held up the suite as the symbol of the excess and entitlement of the governing party. Since the project was reportedly killed twice, the Wildrose party refers to it as the “zombie sky palace.”

Premier Dave Hancock admitted Wednesday the project went off the rails.

“It wasn’t appropriate,” said Hancock.

Redford has refused to comment on the planned penthouse, saying she has moved on with her new life as a backbencher for the riding of Calgary-Elbow.

All members of Redford’s inner circle have left the government, sharing $1.3-million in severance.
