These same companies peddling the flu vaccines are the same ones that are trying to peddle the polio vaccine in Pakistan. Luckily, the Taliban are killing off the volunteers providing teyh poli vaccine. The vaccines come from evil conglomerates like GlaxoSmithKline--companies who make billions every quarter and have repeatedly been guilty of fraud. As well, the vaccinators are often CIA moles. Not to mention, of course, that the "vaccine" itself is actually a poison designed to sterilize Muslims.

Are you saying that the next step we should expect is to observe the Taliban in Canada hacking-off the arms of vaccine recipients?

You made the allegation, prove it.

Perhaps later. I'm eating supper right now and I'm not sure I have time to play with you tonight. Besides, you will just embarrass yourself like you did on the other thread last night and run away once I do.

I did not embarrass myself. But as you brought it up, what did you do to assist, care, sought help, protection order for your wife before she tried to kill her father.

This thread is about flu shots. I understand it may be difficult for you to focus but if you want to discuss mental health issues perhaps you should post your questions on the proper thread....and yes, you definitely were embarrassing

Nope. I moved it. Threads go off topic all the time- like yourself.

Immunization is not about "YOU"

If you are young and strong what do you care?
You can shake off the flu in a few days.
So why is it your problem?

Because it is really all about the old, the weak and the sick.

It's the old and sick that pay the price.
The immune suppressed .
HIV patients.
Transplant patients.
Cancer patients.
Diabetics.
Your grandparents.
And on and on.

How the hell do you think those people do when they come down with a full on ripping case of H1n1?

I have said it once and I will say it again.
It is not about "YOU".
It is about slowing and reducing transmission in your community.
For the benefit of the truly weak and needy.

Grow the hell up, spring the $20 bucks and get the shot.
Ignore the internet a$$holes.
Think a little bit about your family, your friends and your neighbors.

I still say that 50% of getting the right virus strains and then only a 60% immunization, is far from acceptable. Millions spent on something that does a half assed job.

Fortunately you aren't in any position to steer public health policy

I got the flu in November and I do not want the experience again.
My wife has COPD and its a serious risk not to get the shot.
I went out tonight and got it along with two other family members.
Here in BC the N1 is included in the vaccine

Influenza is a highly variable virus...and the efficacy of the seasonal influenza against laboratory confirmed influenza ranges between roughly 60-80%. That is damned high for a virus that mutates as quickly as influenza does. Think about that for a second. The seasonal influenza is often trivalent, and in some cases quadrivalent. Having three or four sub-types improves the liklihood that by the time the flu season hits the antigens that were injected will provide some protection. The WHO sets the recommendations for which antigenic strains should be included in the vaccines each year, based on the best surveillance available. The manufacturers must then provide equivalent strains in their vaccines as a condition of the license to sell the vaccines in Canada, and of course take the time to grow the viruses and manufacture the vaccines. There are 8 seasonal influenza vaccines authorized in Canada. This year, the strains are:

- A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus

- A(H3N2) virus antigenically like the cell-propagated prototype virus A/Victoria/361/2011 (A/Texas/50/2012 viruses, which are antigenically like the A/Victoria/361/2011, will be used in manufacturing the influenza vaccine)

- B/ Massachusetts/2/2012-like virus (Yamagata lineage)

Well another one at work "bit the dust" so now we're down to 1 who hasn't been ill. Even the boss who says he "never" gets sick was kiboshed by this flu. Makes him a bit more human lol.
