It's obvious that the member did not read your post fully. Most people do that. He would have seen that you were talking about the beaches on Vancouver Island where, as you say, are pretty much dead looking even in the summer time. At this time, it is even quieter.
One cannot compare beaches in Florida to beaches in BC. Plus the fact that the population is ten times higher than what the population in Canada is. Something most Canadians seem to not take into account much. Aw well.

The official reason from Parks Canada for closing the beaches was they couldn't ensure surfers would stay 2 meters apart on the water.
Could they ensure that anyone injured could be saved by emergency response?
Because getting someone from a remote west coast beach to a hospital can be a tough one.
There is a hospital in Tofino with a perfectly good helipad . There are never lifeguards on Pacific Rim beaches .
Well, it might as well be seen as the authorities do not want anyone walking on the beach if they are closing off all the parking lots.
