One of the BIGGEST falsehoods that continuously comes up in these discussions. The Taliban did not fight the Soviets. The Taliban did not emerge on the scene until AFTER the Soviets left Afghanistan. The Taliban was created from young boys fleeing into Pakistan and training at islamic fundamentalist maddras. The bulk of the Taliban were too young to fight the Soviets and emerged as a young fighting force in the ensuing Afghan Civil War.
