Politically correct Manchester Airport has banned the use of such scanners for searching children, just in case the operators are paedophiles.

So if any Islamic terrorist (or Irish terrorist or, of course, ANY terrorist) wants to blow up a plane, all they have to do is strap explosives to a child underneath the child's clothes and board a plane at Manchester Airport. Easy peasy.

Blackleaf, it is not only Manchester, the original article stated that the technique will not be used on children for now (precisely because of pornographic considerations, there may be legal implications).

But that doesn’t mean that children will be let through without a search, they will be searched the old fashioned way.

PS That is not my IP but yours.. :) Each person should be seeing their own IP, Browser, Running System. The box mirrors what it sees from you..

Interesting. So you have arranged it so that anybody who sees your post also sees his own ISP in the box? When I quoted your post, it did not copy the ISP.

Anyway, it says I am using COGECO cable, which is fine. It says I am using Windows XP, again, no problem. But it says I am using Firefox, while I am using Netscape. I suppose it assumes that nobody uses Netscape these days, and Firefox is the closest approximation.

That is correct SJP..

Such as mine shows Shaw ( Shaw Cable ), Windows XP, Firefox which are all correct. Keep in mind it looks at the IP to the modem and not further..

Yes the base of Firefox is Netscape. Perhaps that is why it is fooled at this point. Is there still a Netscape at all ? I could not find a download site going to AOL.com - Netscape.

I don’t know if a download is available any more, Francis. I have been using Netscape for years (AOL was my internet provider for years before I switched to cable) and I have continued using it.

I downloaded Modzilla quite a while ago, but am too lazy to do the switch. And as long as Netscape works fine, why bother?

lol If it's a girl checking me out, I'll take the pat-down. If it's a guy, he can see my cartoon in the pic.
Nutscrape used to suck, not sure about now. Firefox works best out of the ones I have tried so apparently they took Nutscrape and improved on it.

If my kids were still minors, I'd rather have some perve gaping at their pics than patting them down.

Now you are talking nonsense, TenPenny. Are you seriously claiming that Sikhs are the reasons we have to take all these security measures when flying?

Not all of them, no.

But if you aren't familiar with Sikh terrorists and bombs on planes in Canada, then you're far stupider than even I suspected.

I really have to watch what I say here, but I'll keep it to publicly known facts; It takes quite a bit to blow an airplane out of the sky, they are fairly tough machines. Some have suffered catastrophic structural failures due to fatigue or stress from G forces and still made it to the ground with relative success. An Aloha 737 lost 1/3 of its pressure vessel from floor to ceiling and landed successfully. King Hussein of Jordan's 727 landed successfully after being hit with at least one air to air missile. The pilots of a DHL A300 landed successfully with a total loss of hydraulics after being hit by a SAM in 2003. Both aircraft were hit in the wing. Even KAL 007 flew for quite some time after being hit by a Russian heat seeker.

Although explosives on an aircraft will certainly cause havoc, it will still take a lot to bring an airplane down, and will have to be placed properly to do so. To carry enough on board a child will resemble a mini Michelin man, and will certainly raise suspicion.

I'm not trying to downplay the dangers of explosives, but only trying to instill a bit of reason and faith that even when disaster strikes, it doesn't always result in total catastrophe, Hollywierd movies notwithstanding.
