What about teenagers having sex. Should a 17 year old face charges for having sex with a 15 year old???

Thats different. Teens will always have sex. And if they are around similar age, no problem.

I don't like people who are 25, 30, 40 ,50,60+ years old having sex with 14,15,16,17 year old girls. They are not mature and are easily taken advantage of for what they think is real "love".

I know it will be hard to enforce or differentiate.

No, That's called a cougar cub....right? am I right?

Not if you're the boy...then it's just called a chance. I don't wanna brag though.

And there should be a line there. We've drawn that line at fourteen. That may or may not be right (I lean way to the "not" part of that), but I doubt we can come up with any realistic legislation to control it.

Teen prostitutes aren't out there because they have an emotional attachment or felt a little horny, they're out there because they have to be.

The men that pick them up? I'd love to see a psychological study of them. Why the hell would anybody want to be around a teenager if they didn't have to be? I can think of no worse way to spend time than with a teenager. Having sex with one of them is bizarre to me.

None of that really matters though. We are talking about laws to punish f*cked up people who are abusing other f*cked people. Here's an idea...why don't we quit f*cking people up instead? As a place to direct our resources, it'd make a lot of sense.

And...I've been meaning to ask this for a while...what the heck has it got to do with polygamy?

Well I thought because of places like Bountiful and the likes, that have young girls marrying men a lot older than them. How mature is a 15 year old to decide she wants to get married unless she was brainwashed. Some of those men have 3 or 4 wives or more.

RE: A question about plig

Yeah, that goes back to why an adult would want to spend around a teenager if they didn't have to, as well.

I really see what amounts to rape and polygamy as separate issues though. One might be used as an excuse or justification for the other, but they aren't connected to one another in any necessary way.

Is anyone that chooses to do something you don't agree with brainwashed? How mature is a 15 year old who decides she wants to have sex with a classmate and then ends up pregnant with no choice but addoption or abortion? How mature is a 15 year old that decides they want to smoke or drink? Maybee all teenagers are being brainwashed. Also, 15 year olds don't marry men alot older than them in Bountiful. They tend not to get married until after at least 16. Normally they marry at 18 and they just about allways marry someone a lot closer to their own age. The majority of men in Bountiful only have one wife.

Well, I am inclined to agree with you most of those points - but it is a slippery slope because you're essentially deciding when someone knows that they "want" to be with someone, either on a sexual basis or a long term relationship type basis.

What about someone who is about to turn 23 and someone who is about to turn 17? What if we jack that up a few years? What makes 30, or 40, the magical number? It's hard to say.

Again, I do agree with you...I have trouble with allowing a 60 year old to be having sex with a fifteen or sixteen year old, but I think you need a more sound reason than they "don't know what true love is"...because that is definitely not the government's water to tread.
