Who here has ever lived in China? I have, as does China from what he says. That does not mean that we were brainwashed while we lived there. I don't see why I cannot make positive comments about China without necessarily agreeing with the Communist Party. After all, China and the Communist Party are two separate things altogether, and so one can comment on China without commenting on the Party and vice versa.
Also, how does living or having lived in China reduce the value of any criticism of Canada?

He's wrong no matter how one views the US. We shouldn't jump to their system. And no matter how much someone likes Canada, our system isn't perfect either. Take the national saber rattling out of the picture, and neither system is good enough to sell a country on.

3 the insured middle class - get health care approved by the insurance company, not by doctors
4 the uninsured middle class - get the second mortgage on their houses to pay for medical bills, soon thereafter they go under and are moved to category #2 and thus, indeed, get free medical care, for emergencies only.

I have no idea what it's like in Alberta, but in Ontario, his opinion isn't that far off. I agree with his assertion that Canadians seem to need cradle to grave governing.
To top that off, just the other day, I was discussing how Doctors paid to testify in court cases balance what they say and know about the case, with their Hippocratic Oath. After watching an episode of House. Although I hadn't applied "moral bankruptcy". It could fit.
Joffen: How can you say the American system is better when it's the HMO's making the decisions on whether or not you can have a procedure rather than doctors? I find that incomprehensable! And yes, we have problems in our system - bigs ones too! But you know what? Unlike my girlfriend who lives down there, if I needed a Hysterectomy even if I had to wait for a time, I'd get it. Down there, she just suffers because she can't afford it and doesn't have the insurance she needs to cover the cost.. How is that right?
How is that right? Because it's the American way. If you have enough money, you get what you want. If you have no money, you get what you need. If you're in the middle, you get boned up the ass.
That all depends on why she needs a hysterectomy. If it's seen as elective, I can understand why an insurance company might deny the claim.
But I thought everyone was mandated to have insurance under Obama Care.
