They ware also 200 years ahead of Western injuns.
The Cree adapted so well they took Dene as slaves. That is how Great Slave Lake got its name
All that peace, love and harmony ya know.
The Inuit only entered the Canadian Arctic around the same time that the Norse arrived in Greenland. The Inuit totally wiped out the physically different "Dorset People" who were here for thousands of years and they even have an historic memory of hunting and killing them all off. There is archaelogy all over the North that confirms this.
There is even a theory that the presence of the Norse, who traded iron and steel goods drew the Inuit ever Eastwards right into Greenland from Siberia, wiping out everyone in their path and eventually, the Norse of Greenland.
